There is 0 concern for what is actually happening to prostituted women. How rampant is rape, mistreatment, abuse. How legalising buying of sex (eg. Germany), at least based on the criticisms I’ve seen, but correct me if I’m wrong, does not help the women in sex trade one bit (trafficking and said abuse does not diminish). Most of the articles I’ve seen (once again, correct me if I am wrong) disclose a strong correlation with sexual abuse or child abuse and poverty with the later choice of the woman to enter the industry.

Their warped idea that they are somehow entitled to sex no matter the damage it does to those women is really disturbing. The fact that you cannot question the ethics of prostitution in a general feminist setting nowadays is just as disturbing.

The obvious aside, I think it's telling that he keeps using the word "intimacy" when he really means "sex." He's so obsessed with only the physical act and doing it to someone that he would rather change laws and cultural mores to facilitate his ability to treat women like sexual objects than, I don't know, be a good partner and have a relationship with a woman. Which would require him to respect women as human beings in the first place.

Why is sex work always centered around straight men? I’ve noticed it’s only ever men who think sexual intimacy is a need but you rarely see women go to the extent of getting a prostitute to relieve their sexual desires. Maybe we’ve been socialized out of expressing our desire but a part of me feels like male sexuality is engineered around imposing needs on others and feeling some sort of power. Either way, socialized male sexuality just seems so gross and vapid to me. There’s no sense of intimacy or closeness for them but just the predatory aspects of sex.
