I see lots of people suggesting moving out of the country to evade child support.

I get the emotion behind this. However, it is TERRIBLE advice 99% of the time.

If you're in a situation where the courts have been completely unreasonable and you're facing an ultimatum you'll never be able to meet and prison is guaranteed, then at that point flight may make sense.

There have been people who have done it. However:

It requires a lot of preparation.
It requires having either a TON of money saved that the courts haven't been able to take, or the ability to find work overseas. Note that the US is one of the easiest places for foreigners to find work - in most countries they don't want foreigners coming in and taking jobs.
You will lose all your family and friends, and all contact with them. They will think you are scum for running. They won't understand. And if you have communications with any of them they will conspire with your ex to track you down.
Many countries have extradition for child support. You will go to prison if you end up in one.
Your US passport has an expiry date. When that date is reached, you will not be able to do basically anything anywhere without either returning to US jurisdiction where you will be arrested, or having a passport issued elsewhere.

If paying support is an unjust hardship, but you can still do it, then you're best off just paying it. Yes, it is unfair and sucks, but you don't have a better option.

Fleeing the country is really a non-option that should only be used as a last resort if your life is basically over anyway. It is better than putting a bullet in your head, but it won't be an easy life.

Support payments are temporary most of the time. Life will suck for a decade, but you will get through it.

Every time I see or hear some story similar to this I'm so happy that I both never married and never had children.

For quite a while during my adult years I felt a bit like a loser because I never found a woman with whom to engage in a long-term relationship, just women I would sleep with intermittently or for several months and then it would be over.

However, for the last few years I have learned that this was actually the best thing for me, and since I never really wanted a family certainly I never really wanted a bunch of kids and the concept of being involved with a woman or married just never sounded like fun. I would suggest not paying for child support and opting for the prison. Consult a lawyer.

Also you can ask for receipts of child support payments so that you can see where the money is going. That way you can sue your ex of child negligence and thereby reduce child support payments or even ask back for child custody and make her pay child support. I am not a lawyer. Just some common sense.

Otherwise you can just spend your money somewhere else from where you can get returns later on and reduce your net worth so that child support amount can be reduced.

Although, your mindset should be about fighting legally against paying child support first with whatever you have at your disposal.

I wouldn't advise trying to escape (reasonable) child support payment. It's not the child's fault and they can't support themselves. However, it's really up to you if you want to keep trying to visit and potentially exposing yourself to constant demands for more money and being set up for accusations of abusing the child etc. It may be time to just walk away with (hopefully) most of your money and future earnings still intact. It's not a total waste as you got to send some of your DNA into the future and nature usually demands a high price for this.
