Well in all honesty the narrative of police being oppressive by stopping such things is kinda a BS wrong think. I see nothing wrong with police stopping crime. I also do not think that people who use their race as a 'get out of responsibility' card is doing anybody any good.

The great thing now about most police services having body cams is the narrative of rampant police discrimination is just not panning out as activists have described things. Not even in the slightest. Sure their are outlyer cases as one would expect but they are getting dealt with. The real funny bit is now activists are complaining that police body cams are tainting the process as they show exactly what happened and that police are allowed to view the footage and write reports based on the events and not memory alone. Memory is fallible so the problem is the accused has to go on memory and the cops do not which removes a long standing avenues of defense, ie the cop was prejudiced, racist, heavy handed, unlawful arrest etc.

Personally I love when racist or bad cops get their asses handed to them. I dislike when good cops get attacked for doing their jobs. I also love when criminals get their asses handed to them with cold hard facts. I dislike when an innocent person is wronged.

So please continue to thought police people by where they are on the political spectrum.

Nobody is going to disagree with you that any physical traits are encoded in our genes. Skin colour is not a social construct.

Arbitrarily drawing lines and groupings based on diverse sets of physical traits and calling it "race" is a social construct, though. Redrawing "race" lines as tall/short, fat/thin, blue/non-blue eyes, bornBlind/bornSighted, hasCancer/notHasCancer are all valid genetic groupings but we don't use them for "race". There is nothing intrinsically "special" about the genes that when expressed account for the traits we associate with race. The concept of race that we have today has been (and probably still is) a useful way to associate physical traits with assumptions of culture and history... but it's still a social construct.

This isn't a new concept, or even confined to social sciences. There is the concept of a morphospecies in paleontology where we use physical structures for grouping, but it is well understood that these are subjective measures.

Colloquially people get referred to based on the actual color of their skin, their genetics don't matter. A black skinned person is called black, and a white skinned person is called white. All of the shades of brown in between get grouped into various ethnicities: Latino, Arabic, Indian, Asian, and all the others.

My question is who gives a shit? Why do you care enough about the difference between black and mixed that you bother to list it as an exception?
