Both those numbers seem insanely high, maybe if you only count fortune 500 companies. The vast majority of companies make less than $100M in revenue, I don't see how they can justify spending >10% on a single person.

Ok, here's why shitty, no-work-done stats like this hurt our cause.

For starters (and as is taught in first level economic classes) you need to contextualize statistics.

This is the median pay of a small subset of elite people vs the median pay of a much, much larger subset incorporating elite and non elite people.

How can we know that? Well in 2016 only 4% of CEOs in the Fortune 500 were women (Fortune) and given the price points on this median graph, its clear they were definitely involved in the statistics.

So what you're looking at is a comparison between the highest paid, most successful individuals - the 21 or so female CEOs in the fortune 500 - and comparing it to every type of male CEOs - successful, unsuccessful, etc. Its not a comparable subset.

Secondly, there is something called market value, and since the supply is so low for females CEOs and the demand so high (which is an actual gendered issue, unlike this post) their value skyrockets. So of course those 21-ish women would be able to negoatiate high salaries.

I expect better from our community.

The pay gap only exist because of women who don't choose to work since they can leech on their husbands and the state. The women who do choose to work are a lot more likely than men to be gifted with high earning potential.
