Finally got a judge with common sense. Let this be an example to all teachers, male and female.

[–]NetPotionNr9 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Have you ever talked to people about that issue? I have, and it is stunning how few people know just how prevalent female teacher child sex crimes are. It's because we are on the other side of the break point and the reality does not fit the narrative that men are predators and women are the caring, look bing, nurturing ones that cannot harm a fly as are always innocent and of course never should be hit. We currently live in a perverse, perverse world. Our, western, "civilized" culture of European origin is sick and rotten and mentally ill because men have not stood up for themselves for a longtime and tolerated way too much for way too long. For any good that came from all the tolerance and acceptance; so much more deeper and more sustained rot and perversion has set in

It's interesting to see how social conditioning can result even in a Men's Rights poster saying "female impregnated by male".

The way the sentence is arranged, he is the object which was acted upon by the subject. She was passive, he was active. He did something to her.

This is not a dig at the OP; just an observation on societal norms and language can influence each other in unhelpful ways without us realising.

Gynocentrism is probably biological, unfortunately, so it'll always slip in there, even with people like us who strive to be aware of it.

[–]Kyrond 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

On the other hand, we use "guys" for group containing both men and women.
Similarly, other languages (like Czech) have priority for men in a group.

It's better to leave the language as it is, its ancient, but it's not gonna change.

[–]ProfessorFog 13 points14 points15 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I view it the other way, where she was the cause. The title could be changed to say that she raped the student. Because of the law, it should be viewed as she sought him out making her the active and not the passive.

The teacher did something to him, and that was rape.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes, that's the point I was trying to make.

Teacher impregnated herself by (raping) student gets 10 years in jail?

[–]ohgodineedair 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Teacher impregnated...," I think is the most effective way to word it. They used her status over her gender. Inherently whether at the age of consent or not, teachers should not be having relations with students and that makes the use of the word "teacher" effective and seemingly unbiased. The only thing that would be more effective would be, "a teacher, who became pregnant after inappropriate relations with a student...," but that's a mouthful of a title, don't you think?

[–]Yoyo117 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Teacher impregnated herself" additionally puts responsibility for the pregnancy on the adult, instead of "victim-blaming".
"inappropriate relations with a" -> "raping" (shorter and, if convicted of, more correct)

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points29 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I disagree.

I read the headline yesterday and thought it was a win as well, then I read the article.

First off, she is eligable for parole in 3 years - let this hang over your head.

In the beginning she potentially had a life sentence. She admitted to the rape so they would agree to no more then 30 years and only a judge trial - no jury trial (umm a bench trial is what it is called).

Then the judge said that she isn't a typical sexual offender, not likely to reoffend, and not a danger to society.

Then I read the article. She is all of those things.

[–]InDurdenWeTrust 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The fact that she got actual jail time instead of probation is definitely a win.

And no, she doesn't deserve our sympathy. An adult in charge of teaching/supervising 13 year olds should not be raping them. There is no such thing as consensual sex with a 13 year old because 13 year olds legally can't consent.

[–]x4nTu5 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Isn't this the premise of that one Adam Sandler movie with Andy Samberg?

[–]Deansdale 12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (92 children) | Copy Link

A "win" would be if the laws were revised to assign lenier sentences for both sexes in cases like this. This is the perfect example of a lose-lose situation, where men are unfairly shafted by stupid laws and instead of lobbying for fair laws for men some people are happy when women are also shafted by stupid laws. If you think a 10-year jail sentence is appropriate for having consensual sex with a teen you're out of your mind. Describe to me please the danger this woman presents to society that justifies locking her away for a decade. Oh my god, she might consensually fuck other guys as well! She should be executed!

[–]Squiddlydiddly56 27 points28 points29 points 9 years ago (72 children) | Copy Link

If you think a 10-year jail sentence is appropriate for having consensual sex with a teen you're out of your mind.

This "teen" was 13. That's barely pubescent. That's a 7th grader. There is a line, and she crossed it.

Describe to me please the danger this woman presents to society that justifies locking her away for a decade. Oh my god, she might consensually fuck other guys as well! She should be executed!

She lacks the self-control to discern between sex partners on a moral/logical basis. That's a danger to me. Is 10 years overkill? Yeah. That's a long ass time.

But the obvious issue is this:

15-17? No problem, that's high school. They know what they're doing and they're essentially adults physically anyway. That's why 16 is the age of consent in England.

But 13 fucking years old? If you think 13 is an acceptable age for a grown adult (>30) to have sex with, you need help.

[–]functionalsociopathy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

This is something that has continually annoyed me with this subreddit. The thing that's truly damaging to these victims is having everyone shove a victim label down their throat. Was the kid broken because of this? No. How about the perpetrator, was this an act of predation for her? No. Well if it's a decade sentence surely the family is instigating this. Oh, they were okay with it because their culture lacks puritanical roots. So this is all a matter of all parties involved being culturally incompatible with Puritan inspired US law.

Are there white knights in Feminist circles? Absolutely. That's where you would expect to find an army of braindead, fedora-clad puritans. Are there white knights in the Mens Rights community? Unfortunately there are. And the white knights infesting MRA communities are just as cringey from an opjective lens as the guys that say "Cat-calling is literally rape." There are cases where a harsh sentence like what was handed down in this case is warranted, but there is zero nuance when it comes to white knights of any kind. It's just like the Brock Turner case where the MRA white knights came out to say "Sure, he was drunk too. Sure, they left the party together. Sure, she was conscious and participating until the witnesses showed up. Sure, they didn't actually have sex. But he's still a piece of shit rapist. Don't try to convince me with facts and reason, I've already made up my mind."

As a general PSA for all the white knights here: If you travel outside of the US shave your neck and take the small brim trilby off because unless you're in an even worse country, like Canada, the people there aren't going to share your Puritan mentality of sex.

[–]Squiddlydiddly56 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Was the kid broken because of this? No.

Didn't know you were telepathic and could see the future.

How about the perpetrator, was this an act of predation for her? No.

An adult taking advantage of a 13-year-old kid sexually? An act of predation? Naaaaaahhhh, couldn't be

Well if it's a decade sentence surely the family is instigating this. Oh, they were okay with it because their culture lacks puritanical roots.

Like those cult families that let their children get raped by the "elders" of the cult. If the family is cool with it, it must be all good.

So this is all a matter of all parties involved being culturally incompatible with Puritan inspired US law.

Right. Just keep saying puritan over and over again to try to normalize this morally reprehensible act. The law acts as an objective standard by which society enforces its rules. It doesn't matter how endearing any one individual case might be. If you break the law, you broke the law.

Don't like it? Change it. Until then, stay away from 13-year-old genitals.

[–]functionalsociopathy 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Don't like it? Change it.

Yeah, no fucking shit. It's like you don't even think before you type.

The reason I keep bringing up Puritans is because their prudish mentality of sex has influenced US culture. Which is clearly indicated by you sentiment that their culture is "Like those cult families that let their children get raped by the 'elders" of the cult.'" If you hate their culture so much maybe you could give Stormfront a try. From what I hear about them you probably have a lot in common with them. Yeah, nevermind that the kid considered her to be his girlfriend and was more upset about the fact that she was being taken out of his life than all the victim rhetoric being spat at him. Yeah, sending him into the foster system where he's at a highly increased risk of actually being raped or molested is the correct move here. Destroying the life of him and everyone else involved is clearly the proper course of action. If the child had actually been traumatized by the relationship or the teacher had been predacious like in this case a punishment like what happened here would be appropriate.

Until then, stay away from 13-year-old genitals.

I wouldn't be interested in anyone that young you pompous ass, so I would never find myself in a relationship with them. To be honest I doubt I'll get into a relationship ever because when I was growing up my parents took the "Oh, he's exploring his sexuality. Better beat that out of him." approach. They did this because they, like you, thought that sexuality is inherently damaging and any child exhibiting sexual behaviors are wrong and must have their behavior corrected. So forgive me if I understand that US culture is not the only culture that exists. Forgive me if I see a mentality like yours cultlike instead of the family in question. Forgive me if I view filth like you in the same light that I view actual pedophiles.

I'm not sure what part of that article supported your side of the argument.

More than 800 years after the first recorded age of consent laws, the one constant is the lack of consistency. Laws around the world define the socially appropriate age of consent anywhere from 13 to 18. Some differentiate between heterosexual and homosexual acts while others do not. Some apply to young men as well as young women and others remained focused on the lives and actions of girls. And beyond the legislation lies the world of practice, an even more complex story.

This is the last paragraph and summary of the article, and it's absolutely correct. Ever since age of consent laws were introduced they have been wildly inconsistent. What's of note about the trend of age of consent is the push for anything above 13-14 was strictly a British/US led thing. Most of Europe kept the lower age of consent. Are people from those countries all fucked up from their childhood? How about just the ones that had older boyfriends/girlfriends when they were young, are they all fucked up?

Edit: I done fucked up. I'm leaving myself a dislike on this comment since I had the wrong person.

Just because it's legal in these places, doesn't mean it is common. Do you know many adults having sex with preteens out there?

I now realize that the main point of contention is whether or not adults should be able to have sex with 13 year olds. I, along with every other person of sane and moral mind, say no.

[–]functionalsociopathy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And you honestly don't see the self-righteous arrogance of that statement when countless functional societies disagree with you?

[–]Squiddlydiddly56 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Countless is a subjective term.

Also, I wonder what the social norms in those societies are? Do they actively encourage having sex with barely pubescent minors?

[–]Squiddlydiddly56 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

What I learned from your comment:

-Not wanting adults to fuck children makes me a nazi

-Adults should be able to fuck children

-if a family agrees that the adult should be able to fuck their child, it's OK

-Not approving of statutory rape makes me a prudish puritan who wants everyone to remain celibate and have sex only for procreation

They did this because they, like you, thought that sexuality is inherently damaging and any child exhibiting sexual behaviors are wrong and must have their behavior corrected.

You need to seek help. Sexuality in children is one thing. Exploiting those newfound feelings for your own sexual gratification as an adult is some thing else entirely.

So forgive me if I understand that US culture is not the only culture that exists. Forgive me if I see a mentality like yours cultlike instead of the family in question. Forgive me if I view filth like you in the same light that I view actual pedophiles.

Let me get this totally fucking straight:

An adult having sex with a 13 year old child is wrong.

Any culture that disagrees with this is fucked up.

I am not a nazi for agreeing with this

You are fucked up for thinking that not approving of statutory rape is worse than pedophilia.

[–]functionalsociopathy -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

You're not a Nazi for your drive to turn non-victims into victims, you're just an ass. Is Europe fucked up for having a lower age of consent than your socially driven line in the sand? Are they pedophilic cultures for having ages of consent as low as 12? If you feel that they are inferior and need to be purged there might be something to the whole Nazi thing.

There is a difference between a teenager that is coerced into sex by an adult and a teenager that is in a consensual relationship with their parents knowledge and permission. You apparently can't see that difference because you're blinded by social conditioning and kept blind by your own unwillingness to see anyone's point of view but your own.

[–]Squiddlydiddly56 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Is Europe fucked up for having a lower age of consent than your socially driven line in the sand? Are they pedophilic cultures for having ages of consent as low as 12?

This is only in some parts of Eastern Europe, but as an answer to your question, Yes, that is fucked up. 12-year-olds aren't even sexually mature (neither are 13-year-olds for that matter). There is no logical rationale whereby this behavior isn't horribly fucked up.

If you feel that they are inferior and need to be purged there might be something to the whole Nazi thing.

Purged? No. Informed and given new legislation? Yes.

There is a difference between a teenager that is coerced into sex by an adult and a teenager that is in a consensual relationship with their parents knowledge and permission. You apparently can't see that difference because you're blinded by social conditioning and kept blind by your own unwillingness to see anyone's point of view but your own.

Here's the thing. I'm all for lowering the age of consent to 16. 16 year olds are sexually mature and old enough to understand the reality and consequences of sex. My problem is that 13 year old aren't even really teenagers. They're inbetweeners. High School is the real marker for me.

My problem with you is your increasingly disturbing position that adults should be able to have sex with barely pubescent children. There isn't even a natural backing for this. If a 13-year-old were to get pregnant, she or the baby would most likely die. Why? Because she isn't sexually mature.

[–]functionalsociopathy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You have a very odd view of how puberty works. Some kids are early bloomers, these are the kids that would make use of the lower age of consent, like say a schoolboy having an older girlfriend. If instead of having an older girlfriend he had a girlfriend his own age and her 44-year old obese mother forced or coerced him into sex, that is clearly not a consensual relationship and the 44-year old mother should face consequences.

Lowing the age of consent to 16? That runs contrary to your argument. If we're going strictly on physical maturity and risk rates the age of 20 is when our bodies start to calm down and the risk associated with pregnancy levels off. Following your logic we should raise the age of consent to that since that's when people start to reach full maturity, and anyone that wants to fuck an 18-19 year old is just some sick child fucker. Apparently physical maturity and pregnancy risk factors (mortality rate is well below 50% btw, so no to "would most likely die") are just deflections to defend an emotional conclusion.

Purged? No. Informed and given new legislation? Yes.

Ah, so not genocide. Just a unilateral dictate to a number of sovereign nations from an organization somewhere between the old British Empire and the European Union. What happens when they say no? Do we go over and pop 'em then and hope that Russia and China don't declare war on us?

[–]Squiddlydiddly56 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The pregnancy issue was not the crux of my argument. It was a supporting detail as to why 13-year-olds shouldn't be guided into a sexual context by adults looking to exploit their new feelings for their own gratification.

There is a world of difference between a high-school junior and a 7th grader. A lot of 16-year-olds have cars and jobs, adult responsibilities. It is only 2 years away from the age of majority. These different responsibilities and social expectations create separate sociological environments, the differences between them being substantial enough to create a more mature mental state in the older group.

Ah, so not genocide. Just a unilateral dictate to a number of sovereign nations from an organization somewhere between the old British Empire and the European Union.

We've made unilateral dictates before on similar matters, like the UN declaration of human rights or the Geneva convention. It wouldn't be unprecedented.

What happens when they say no? Do we go over and pop 'em then and hope that Russia and China don't declare war on us?

Sanctions and shaming always seem to work with big world powers on these issues.

I can see the campaign now:

(Country) REFUSES TO CHANGE AGE OF CONSENT LAW TO PROTECT CHILDREN! MOLESTER'S SAFE HAVEN?

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Didn't know you were telepathic and could see the future.

Here's the problem. If the kid says "no I don't feel harmed by it", the courts and court psychiatrists, who are in the pocket of women/feminists/SJWS mind you, and thus want to make everything out to be rape, say that the kid can't possibly be telling the truth, has been brainwashed and "groomed".

See, every relationship iis "grooming", groomig the other person for sex or a romantic relationship. They're calling it a new name today like child grooming just to make it sound worse.

Back to the story. So if someone his age says he doesn't feel like a victim and enjoyed it, they just claim he's a victim of manipulation. If he says he felt hurt and damaged and betrayed, then they say "aha! See!".

Basically the problem is that sex predatory language and beliefs are based on unfalsifiable claims. If people are saying they enjoyed it when young, they're a lying victim. If they say they didn't enjoy it, they're a truthful victim.

Thus you can't really trust the judgement of the older people involved in persecuting them, either in court or out of court and on forums, since they'll override the situation with their own bias.

Let me just say one thing. I am willing to accept what you've said as long as you agree with this one thing:

Age of consent should be above 13

There is a line, and she crossed it.

Yes, and she should be punished by maybe a year in prison, not 10 for fuck's sake.

She lacks the self-control to discern between sex partners on a moral/logical basis. That's a danger to me.

There's a possibility that the kid's psyche might be affected by the sex itself, but the judicial proceedings inevitably cause way more harm than that. We "help" the kid by traumatizing him 10 times more seriously than he was before.

If you think 13 is an acceptable age for a grown adult (>30) to have sex with, you need help.

Luckily enough nobody said anything like this.

By that logic, why would we prosecute anyone ever? Why would we even have trials? Trials are pretty brutal, but that's kinda the point. This woman committed a sex crime and now must pay the price.

[–]Deansdale 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Don't tell you don't understand the concept of the punishment not fitting the crime.

By that logic

What I said was there to make you think about how some people in their moral indignitation cause more harm than good. I said she should be punished, yes, but the moral crusade is retarded prudishness at its worst, the prototypical "won't somebody please think of the children?" bullshit non-argument. 10 years prison for having consensual sex with anyone is mindblowingly out of proportion.

I'm well-aware. I'm just saying that this case is serious enough to warrant serious jail time. Maybe not 10 years, but 5? You won't get any sympathy from me. At what point is the cut-off? 12? 10? 8? These apologetics for clear-cut statutory rape are getting out of hand.

the moral crusade is retarded prudishness at its worst, the prototypical "won't somebody please think of the children?" bullshit non-argument

This is a case of an adult taking sexual advantage of a child. Nothing more, nothing less. This is the exact time for a moral crusade.

10 years prison for having consensual sex with anyone is mindblowingly out of proportion.

The point is that 13-year-olds are not in a position to give meaningful consent. It was, by legal definition, non-consensual.

[–]Deansdale 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

These apologetics for clear-cut statutory rape are getting out of hand.

Nobody is excusing statutory rape but people have to realize that it "protects" biologically mature teenagers who are in fact capable of consenting, we just like to look at them as children in need of our protection. Statutory rape is not "real" rape, it does not involve coercion or violence, it's just a belief that although the "victim" is old enough to have sex we think s/he shouldn't. This is reason enough to have different sentencing guidelines for statutory rape than those used for actual rape. Nobody argues for unlimited child rape, in case you didn't notice, I just said 10 years for what is practically consensual sex is insane, regardless of legal definitions.

[–]Squiddlydiddly56 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

13-year-olds are not biologically mature. Most can't even ejaculate yet. This argument would be better suited towards >16-year-olds.

[–]Deansdale 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If the kid impregnated the woman I reckon he was biologically mature enough.

[–]Squiddlydiddly56 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The ability to ejaculate does not and should not be taken to indicate biological maturity, but rather a step on the way to it. Biological maturity is when you finish puberty.

I'm sure you made tremendously mature life decisions at 13, and had enough context and knowledge of the world to do extremely worldly things. I bet that you had a credit card so you could manage your debt. A mortgage so you could start the process of owning a home. You probably drove to your job, and took care of your kids at 13.

I bet you even had a bit of a smoking habit you were trying to kick just a few months prior when you were 12 but would occasionally stress out at all the responsibility you had thrust upon you at 13, break down, and smoke half a pack every month or so.

You probably hung out at all the cool bars around then, and had started to develop a taste for various microbreweries and their beers, but would call an uber if you drank too much to come pick you up and take you back home so you could wake up before your middle school bell rang.

No. I'm not.

Sex has very real long term consequences. STI's, pregnancy (which was the case here), and emotional and psychological damage.

At 13, you are not mature enough to make those decisions about your life. It's why you didn't have a mortgage, drive a car, drink, smoke, or have a credit card then.

13 has always been too young. Even in antiquity. Do you think you were going to find 13 year old heads-of-household at any time in history? Do you think a 13-year-old boy is capable of defending his family from attackers, let alone securing an income/providing for the family? Most 13 year olds can't even ejaculate yet. This is a moot point. 13-year-olds are still essentially children.

Boys at that age are a lot smarter than we give them credit for.

This isn't a question of intelligence. Kids as young as 8 are smart enough to understand the mechanics of sex. That's not the point. This is a question of emotional maturity and sexual abuse.

I'm willing to bet he brags about this to any of his 'friends'.

Do you think that this is, in any way, a justification for a grown adult taking advantage of a naive child for her own sexual gratification?

The main reason we prosecute people who have sex with teenagers is not that they might damage the teenager's psyche. It's that they might produce a child.

13-year-olds are not capable of understanding the depth of those consequences, nor are they capable of raising children effectively. They don't even have income. If she's female, there's a high probability she will die in childbirth, along with the child.

So how does the term 'child rapist' fit into that narrative? 6 months in jail seems like a pretty good punishment for possibly getting a teen pregnant, as teens do it with each other all the time and there's tons of teen mothers where I live (ironically where the age of consent is 18, we also have the lowest average teen age of pregnancy and highest teen birth rate).

I mean, pregnancy must be a truly terrible human rights violation to encourage 10 years prison time.

there's a high probability she will die in childbirth, along with the child.

Nope. you're pulling that from false stats.

And if its such an atrocity, we'd better redouble our efforts to put teenage males in the slammer and slap them with sex offender status for 25 years when they fuck their girlfriends, because they could so irredeemably harm her with pregnancy.

Just switch the genders. Do you think a 30+ year old man who has consensual sex with 13 year old girls is dangerous? As an adult, you have to be able to not have sex with minors. If you can't do that, you're a danger to society, regardless the gender and regardless of wether or not it was consensual.

[–]uptokesforall 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reverse your thinking: If there's a law against having sex with minors, only those who "can't control themselves", in your words, and therefore "are a social danger", in your words, are going to accept sexual overtures and passes from underage teens.

Therefor the law encourages teens to who are interested to seek out those who can't control themselves and are a danger, as you have described them to be. Therefore the law exposes them to more danger, not less.

Its just like anti-prostitution laws.

[–]Deansdale 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Do you think a 30+ year old man who has consensual sex with 13 year old girls is dangerous?

It's unetchical no doubt, but it's nowhere near "dangerous" enough to warrant a 10 year jail sentence. Just imagine losing 10 years of your life as punishment - would you say that's appropriate for seducing a teenager?

If you can't do that, you're a danger to society

IN WHAT FORM??? You might seduce other teenagers as well? Oh gees, on with the firing squad then, we can't have people that dangerous walking around, who knows, some consensual sex might happen.

Also, you can bet your life savings that the judicial procedure is way more traumatic for any teenager than having consensual sex with an adult could ever be.

[–]Tolosuka 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Having sex with minors is against the law. So as an adult you should be able to "withstand the urge" to seduce minors. Let's say everything is consensual - even then you just have to say "no" to yourself because it's against the law for very good reasons. I'm not a judge so I have absolutely no clue whether 10 years is too much or just about right. But just imagine your underage child having sex with an adult as old as it's parents. That's pretty fucked up, right?

[–]Deansdale 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Having sex with minors is against the law.

You don't say.

I'm not a judge so I have absolutely no clue whether 10 years is too much

You don't have to be a judge to realize that 10 years in prison is absolutely out of proportion for the "damage" the "criminal" has caused. Just imagine right now how you'd feel about spending the next 10 years of your life behind bars. You're of a certain age now, add 10 to that and think about losing everything in between those two numbers. Do you think it's proper punishment for consensual sex with a teen? Murderers regularly receive shorter sentences.

But just imagine your underage child having sex with an adult as old as it's parents.

That's immoral, sure, but if there was no coercion involved I'd still say a year in prison is plenty enough.

[–]Tolosuka 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Murderers regularly receive shorter sentences.

Well that's a problem indeed. But it's a problem because murderers should get sentenced to more. Other criminals shouldn't be sentenced to less because of this.

[–]Deansdale 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You have to punish criminals according to the severity of the crime, and having consensual sex with a teen does not warrant 10 years in prison. The justice system is not a race to punish lesser and lesser crimes ever more harshly.

Just for a thought experiment: if a teenager wants to have sex with you and although you know it's illegal you realize s/he's mature enough mentally to understand what sex is and really wants to do it with you, so it happens, would you say you deserve to lose the next 10 years of your life? What is the "danger" you would pose to society in that scenario? Would having consensual sex with a teen turn you into a rapist with an insatiable hunger for children?

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hold on, you think that parental permission makes criminal actions against a child exempt?

So if your mother sold you out as a 7 year old prostitute to make money on the side that is okay with you?

There is a reason it is called statutory rape, its because children are impressionable and most of those children grow up with psychological issues. Even if it is accepted by the family. You can read it in one of the articles...

"Lawson said Vera's history of seeing domestic violence situations as she was growing up, coupled with a deep need for love, led her to a relationship with the young man who flattered and seemed to adore her."

So she herself has a messed up head because of seeing domestic violence (which is often a common trait with sex offenders who do these things to children). It also says that the young man flattered and seemed to adore her. The entire reason he adores her is because she is a grown woman having sex with him, thats how many children feel in this situation and thats exactly the problem. Children don't have the emotional maturity to have extensive live in relationships like this and it can really fuck with them from a mental standpoint.

I'm not even from the US and I don't particularly like going there (sorry guys) but if you come from a country where its okay for a teacher to move in with a student and suck their dick and let them fuck you but also remain impartial enough to grade their tests and educate them then you wherever you are from is a fucking piece of shit place and I would never want to visit.
