Ahh...the avacado. In its current breed it's a creation of a genus bred by A.H. Whitley of the American Agricultural Reseach Centre (AARC) in the 1970s. Thanks to that man's reseach the avacado has become the most popular crop in California.

So feminists can thank a man for that one.

Google was created by Sergie Brin and Larry Page. Two men.

Oceans 11 was written by George C. Johnson and Jack Golden Russell, and based in the book by Harry Brown, Charles Lederer, George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell.

Yep, that's a massive track-record of women's achievement there. Well done girls.

Also worth mentioning who planted the avocado, watered it, harvested it, boxed it, drove it to your store, put it on display, and so on.

I'm going to guess behind the cameras of the movie set has a lot of heavy lifting and the writer isn't proposing they hire extra women to do the work fewer numbers of men can if it makes the ticket cost more.

[–]PaisleyBowtie 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Mexicans? I've seen a fair number of female Latinos working crop picking and the like.

[–]nick012000 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe until The Wall gets built. ;)

[–]electricalnoise 44 points45 points46 points 9 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Lol the phrase "all-female _________ reboot" just sounds like failure.

[–]Krwebb90 13 points14 points15 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Didn't the all female ghost busters tank hard?

[–]Dis_mah_mobile_one 25 points26 points27 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not as hard as it deserved to, but yes it failed to recoup its budget plus ads costs, destroyed the planned sequels and tarnished fem-centric films, all good things.

[–]Taco474 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think it absolutely deserved to, but mostly because of the part that it was a reboot. It felt like it was simply copying scenes and ideas straight from the original movie(s), which I think is a horrible way to do it. Compare that to the Judge Dredd reboot, Dredd. It was much more it's own movie, and it was great.

[–]Halafax 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Compare that to the Judge Dredd reboot, Dredd. It was much more it's own movie, and it was great.

It had the advantage of matching the source material much better than the Stallone movie did.

This is different. Ghostbusters >was< the source material. With a slightly lighter hand, they could have done a lot better.

The real issue is that when cracks started appearing, Feig went too far out of his way to instigate trouble. It was an ego trip, and a poorly thought out one.

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When you put it that way, the remake may now be my new favourite film of all time!

[–]cuteman 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Put it to you this way, if it was the first Ghostbusters, they never would have made a second.

[–]JestyerAverageJoe 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Male films tank hard. It tanked heavily. ;)

[–]Krwebb90 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Savage.....

[–]electricalnoise 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I believe it didn't quite perform to expectations

[–]jaheiner 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, that was all the patriarchy's fault tho. It had nothing to do with the fact that it was a shameless cash grab and complete shit compared to the original.

[–]baskandpurr 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've already made a mental note to never watch that film.

[–]d4m4s74 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have more faith in the female oceans reboot than the Ghostbusters reboot. At least enough to wait for the reviews before dismissing it

[–]tothecatmobile 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're not even correct, its not a reboot, its a spin off.

[–]Booty_Canoe 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well, if they did an all female Expendables spin-off, I'd be throwing my money at the screen.

You know, a team with accomplished action actors like Lucy Liu, Michelle Yeoh, Uma Thurman, Lucy Lawless, Michelle Rodriguez, Kate Beckinsale, Gina Carano, Judy Dench and Geena Davis. Maybe Linda Hamilton if she's still fit. But definitely not Melissa McCarthy.

Incidentally, a movie like this would work much better if the script was written with male actors in mind. Gets rid of the gender agenda.

[–]zfighter18 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That doesn't sound really horrible. Maybe if that Wonder Woman actress was there too, I forget her name.

[–]Booty_Canoe 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gal Gadot. I like her and apparently she has some military background, but to me she just doesn't cut it as an Amazon warrior. The worst in that regard is Zoe Saldana (Uhura, Gamora) though. Super skinny.

And I should add Carrie-Ann Moss to that list.

Don't worry fascists, hell be cast as either a bumbling idiot or a crook. Everyone take a deep breath.

[–]RobDog101 11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol this is the first I've heard of this upcoming feminist flop. I'm sure watching its abject failure will be every bit as satisfying as not watching the newest Ghostbusters.

Now let's talk about how men are apparently annoying for asking women questions they could Google the answer to. So if you do this—let's call it "manquiring"—you're assuming it's women's job to know everything, I take it, which I'm sure women will argue is misogynistic (somehow)? But then they complain about "mansplaining" because it assumes women don't know things.

You can't win. The only winning move is not to play. Oh wait, no, not interacting with women isn't an option either. Sadly.

[–]jaheiner 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look, there goes another shameless estrogen fueled attempt to take something that was great and feminize it then bitch when it's a flop.

[–]DoItLive247 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe they just don't want a repeat of the awesome all-female ghostbusters! /s

[–]BDMR_lurker 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Jezebel has writers?

[–]darkgatherer 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, they have bloggers. They try to do what writers do but don't have any actual talent.

[–]Ontrus 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It will be funny if AI advances and write articles taken seriously. See for instance the postmodernism generator.

[–]2-4-6-0-1-1 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, but he's a fat dumpy and weak man so the all female cast won't have their fragile female egos threatened.

[–]fengpi 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He'll be the incompetent comic foil, Joxer to everyone else's Xena. His job is to once again illustrate that Wimmenz Do Everything Better.

[–]zfighter18 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He's gonna be the same guy as Ghosstbusters Kevin.

[–]frankmullins 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

wasnt Joxer also the producer of Xena? but yeah, i get what ya saying

[–]frankmullins 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i was wrong, his brother was the producer. Damn patriarchy giving em the same last name.

[–]mojo_juju 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What if there were no feminist reboots?

What if...

What if instead, Women got together and created original works of their own, without trying to piggyback on the branding success made entirely by men (Ghost Busters, Ocean's series, etc.)?

[–]Atheist101 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That takes too much work

[–]tothecatmobile 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well its not a reboot, its a spin off.

A spin off of a reboot no less.

[+]Moneysubs points 9 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Look, there goes another man, asking you a question that he could just Google the answer to.

Is this a big problem in America? I had no idea things were so bad over there.

[–]DredFX7 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

"Excuse me, m'am. Is there a McDonalds near he--"

"UGH. Why can't you just Google it?"

Assholes online. Assholes offline.

Edit: No idea why the guy deleted his comment.

[–]prostate-apostate 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
