There also is plenty of guro porn, snuff porn and all sorts of things online, frankly, not even feminists seem to have tried to promote the idea of murder and torture culture.

Better yet, pornography featuring "rape" are produced and consumed by women in great numbers. And a lot of that explicitly aims to appeal with the idea of the consumer taking the point of view of the "victim".

All of that seems to not really combine well with what feminists claim about rape culture.

Because porn is not necessarily an accurate representation nor reflection of society. There's a ton of incest porn online, too, so by your logic, this must mean we live in a culture where incest is normalized and socially acceptable. You know what? There's a ton of femdom porn online--far more than male domination--so by your logic, this must mean we live in a female dominated society

"Rape fantasies" are called such for a reason: they are fantasies, and most people with them don't actually support real, legitimate instances of rape--like how people with BDSM fetishes probably don't support genuinely assaulting people and random acts of violence in the real world

Additionally, the vast majority of porn is not even "rape porn"; even if we interpreted society by the porn it watches, it still wouldn't mean that we live in a rape culture because that would still be a small minority of all sexual activity

If there is a "rape culture," perhaps it is because women perpetuate it. Your statement assumes that men are the viewers of rape porn. It very well could be a high or higher percentage of women who is viewing it because they might enjoy the fantasy of being dominated.

Take, for example, 50 Shades of Grey, a sexually graphic novel written by a woman. Guess the percentage of men who bought the novel? 20% in the US and 30% in the UK. So, that means women make up between 70 and 80% of the purchasers of a novel which gets really close to the line of consensual vs. nonconsensual acts.

Based on the popularity of the 50 Shades series with women, my hypothesis would be that women greatly assist in creating a market for rape porn. I haven't seen any studies that analyzes the demographics of the viewers of rape porn, but I would imagine that women would make a strong showing.

"rape" and "rape roleplay" are very different things. "Rape Fantasy" and "Rape Roleplay" is something a LOT of women enjoy. this is very very different from actually being "raped". in Rape Roleplay and Rape Fantasy the so called "victim" is fully consenting and acting out a fantasy. Rape roleplay is negotiated in advance, limits are respected and the 'victim' always has the option to use a 'safeword' if things get overwhelming.

I personally don't think we live in a "Rape Culture" because rapists are pretty much universally despised by everyone; we know this because the mere accusation of being a rapist destroys the mans reputation and career forever regardless of whether he is ever found guilty of anything. actual 'forceful' rape is quite rare; most of the "rape" claims cited by feminists are "date rapes" or "acquaintance rapes" where in many cases the 'victim' never made any objections and was often a seemingly willful participant but later claims to have been 'impaired' for whatever reason (i.e. got 'caught' by a spouse or parent and doesn't want to accept responsibility for their own actions... or may have actually been impaired and even willfully engaged in sex but once they are sober they 'regret' it or claim that they were 'violated' which apparently is something that can ONLY happen to the female since a drunk male cannot make the same claim against a female and get taken seriously by... uhm... "anyone"...

Rape Porn is quite popular with FEMALES - the supposed 'victim' for the same reason that rape fantasies are so common among females. I have them constantly and about the only "porn" that i ever look for is "abusive"/"rape" themed porn because that is about all that really tickles my nethers.

If you look at the pornhub stats from last year that broke down the viewing stats by gender it clearly shows that females are the ones mostly watching "rough sex", "gangbang", "bbc" and "Bondage" themed porn. all of those categories are more popular with females than males - You can see this for yourself here - http://www.pornhub.com/insights/pornhub-2015-year-in-review (the breakdown by gender is about half way through the article).

The incidence of rape (real rape) has plummeted in every country where easy access to pornography has been introduced. In fact, the absolutely best single thing any society can do to reduce the incidence of rape is to make pornography more accessible.

If you want to know what real rape culture is, then look at the hyperbolic fear mongering and incessant whining being propagated from academia regarding a crime for which the rate has plummeted, and the continual redefinition of which has rendered it virtually meaningless.

It's true, there's no lack of rape porn on the internet, but I think it's a mistake to use that as evidence of a rape culture; while scenes of simulated rape appeal to a niche audience, rape culture would predict their ubiquity in mainstream pornography, yet this is far from the case. While it may be online, you're certainly not going to see rape porn in the TV guides of big hotel chains, but this is exactly what we would expect in a rape culture. Another clue is in the marketing of the sites that do show rape porn - they position themselves as purveyors of the taboo and deviant, playing directly on the idea that such porn is depicting something explicitly socially unacceptable.

If there was such a thing as rape culture, which there obviously isn't in America and only the most sheltered and privileged people think there is, why is the mere accusation of rape life ruining? Unless of course you're one of those deplorable people that doesn't believe in the truth and feel that the claim of rape also serves as evidence of the rape which would be awesome. I love people that blind to the world.
