Sounds to me like these kids are being brainwashed by the grandparents. This is The Duluth Model in action. She is a victim, he was the abuser. He drove her to it. Her children may say they're afraid of her and have PTSD because they saw their father murdered and bleed to death right in front of them, but they just need to understand how she was driven to do it by their abusive father. She isn't a risk to the children, because she finally killed the abuser. The only tragedy is we had to lock her away for so long just because she killed someone. I mean in a way, he got away with it.

Incidentally I also find it interesting when debating DV with feminists they will often say men will kill women more than women kill men. Even avoiding the missing variable of women who are just more calculated in their murders missing from the statistics, maybe a more pertinent observation is exemplified in this story: Women who do kill their partners and are convicted for it are still treated as victims, but if men are found "not guilty" of rape or DV in a court of law they're treated as monsters that got away with it.

There's something that doesn't make a lick of sense with the mother's side of the story.

So during their argument she says he pushed her stomach and choked her.

Pushing her stomach in what way? A light tap, a hard shove? Either way, I hardly think it would do sufficient damage to the baby inside.

Choking her. It's also stated, on record, that he was holding a baby at the time. How can he choke her with only one hand?

Not to mention, if he had choked her, there would be injuries like marks or bruises on her neck. The article doesn't mention that at all, just the mother's word on it and testimony.

So many plot holes.
