Being completely incapable of empathizing

Isn't empathizing what men's rights do? Who drink "male tears" off mugs again?

[–]dagthegnome 38 points39 points40 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Men refusing to subordinate their needs to women's needs are a turn-off to women. Men refusing to embrace their own disposability are a turn-off to women.

More and more I'm thinking MGTOW has a point. Maybe men should just refuse to have anything to do with women who expect these things from men.

[–]ghebert001 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Slaves who want liberation are also likely a "turn-off" to slave-owners.

[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right on !

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, because we all know how much supplicating and groveling is a turn on.

[–]garglemesh42 12 points13 points14 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Exactly.

I wonder how women would react if men made demands like this to them?

I'm guessing not well.

[–]RedditorJemi 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We won't be in a position to make demands until enough men start saying 'no' to women. When we get to that point, we might just find that there's nothing we really need from women.

[–]chocoboat -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's a big difference between "women" and "feminists". Feminists hate anyone who doesn't support every one of their political views, but women aren't turned off by someone who isn't submissive and who won't put them on a pedestal... in fact the reverse is more commonly true.

Constant whining about being a victim is a turnoff, but that's not quite the same thing.

Maybe men should just refuse to have anything to do with women who expect these things from men.

Sure. But I think it's inaccurate to say that most women do that, with the exception of the social convention of the man paying for the first date.

However they (almost all) will, without complaint, accept all the benefits that have been garnered for their gender, with zero fucks given about how that may be unequal or unfair.

The 'inaccuracy' is a technicality.

[–]BALROGG -5 points-4 points-3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, because this type of thinking applies to all women. /s

  1. Gaming. This might be tough to hear, but, gaming is. not. cool.

I don't care.

[–]Krissam 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I never understood why gaming is less cool with women than sitting infront of a tv screaming at 22 people chasing a ball.

[–]Arby01 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

um. It's not. Many women don't like sports either.

However, I also don't understand why either of them are less cool than the gigantic mash up of unfathomably bad reality tv shit that is largely watched by women.

[–]ghebert001 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm married and both my wife and I enjoy gaming...guess the joke's on them.

[–]Vandredd 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm married as well. My wife hates gaming. She married me knowing that was a hobby of mine.

[–]chocoboat 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

God forbid someone doesn't plan their recreational activities based on what certain women find to be "cool".

I love that her last point is to never call a woman crazy.

[–]Captaincastle 20 points21 points22 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm just gonna keep being me, and happy, and if women don't like it they're welcome to fuck off.

[–]garglemesh42 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

All this article convinced me of was: never, ever, ever date the author of this article.

I feel sorry for anyone who has, actually.

Not only are like half of her points bullshit, but she also comes across as an entitled, whiny brat.

Yeah, keep flipping off men and writing entitled, whiny rants about us all you want, there's a reason you're single and writing shitty articles for shitty websites.

[–]Lethn 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Whenever I hear feminists rant about men and what they do etc. it really is the equivalent of a 5 year old talking about how gross boys are.

No... Wait... I'm being unfair to the 5 year old.

[–]azazelcrowley 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

10.

Apparently civilized = woman. Yes, we live in a civilized society. Where half the people are men, and thus get urges to readjust themselves. How about you stop seeing men as uncivilized, you sexist.

9

Sexism again, and complete ignorance of misandry.

8

Haha.

7

"I do it to, but it's different when you do it."

6

Ladies, I hate to tell you, but shoe shopping and fashion isn't cool. Just stop.

5

Apparently women are too stupid to use a toilet a man to operate it's complex mechanisms for them.

4

Men seem evil apparently.

3

Well, they aren't universal if men don't do it apparently now are they. I have good nails. Some people don't. It's up to them. This is also a pretty classist complaint. Lots of people work in environments where stuff gets under their nails, I do. It means that on days where I work, my nails are going to have stuff under them until I get back to the house.

2

sigh

1

Well... you're kind of crazy.

[–]redditorriot 19 points20 points21 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Is it my imagination or has the prevalence of hit pieces against the MRM/MR increased dramatically over the last 4 or 5 months?

This is a fantastic sign.

[–]Sasha_ 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I couldn't agree more. We should adopt the old slogan of Millwal FC football fans: "No one likes us, and we don't care".

[–]Tedesche 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Dem comments tho!

[–]mochacola 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yup. It's good people are getting words out. Enough is enough. Almost all their b.s are getting backlash. Even those who unintentionally made mistake are getting backlash.

[–]uncle_klopek 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Men are finally saying "enough is enough." And lots of women are doing the same thing, saying "stop hating on men and boys." It's taken 150 years but it's finally happening. I guess people can only take so much abuse, and right now feminism is acting like an abusive spouse. They're like the quintessential nagging wife dialled up to a 1000. Even in feminist strongholds like the Guardian, the comment sections are filled with men telling the feminists to go fuck themselves.

[–]ThisIsGoingToBeGood 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, lot's of women calling her out too. It's great. :=)

10: Calling us crazy

No matter what, do not ever call us crazy. Never.

Haha, is that a sore point?

10 Touching yourself in public

and

7 Spitting and snot rocketing in public

Just where does Emma live? She really needs to move to a better neighborhood. No wonder she sounds so ... stressed ... getting covered with spit and snot every time she goes out. Wankers everywhere, MRAs too. Move, Emma, you owe it to yourself.

5 Leaving the toilet seat up.

At least they have toilets there, then. I was starting to wonder.

[–]Funcuz 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So what ?

Look, I hate feminism. I even claim to hate feminists but the truth is that the self-proclaimed feminists I've met have been pretty reasonable women. I just think of those hairy brutes with the shaved heads we call the radfems when I think of feminists.

Well, the author of this article clearly thinks of MRAs the same way. To the author's mind only a woman hater could possibly be in support of men's rights. The author almost certainly assumes all MRAs are just waiting for some sort of societal collapse so that we can go out and start blowing away women.

Meh. What can we do ? What should we do ? I say "Sweet fuck all." It's just not my problem. The author isn't going to actually investigate what the MHRM is about or learn anything about the average MRA or what brought them to the movement.

Sooner or later we'll get what we want and it's not like we're a shrinking movement with no definable goals like feminism in the West today.

[–]ezetemp 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

10 Touching yourself in public

Some expectations on people not fondling their genitals when handling other peoples food or in situations where they can be expected to shake hands are entirely reasonable. If you find your partners placement of his or her hands disturbing in private, either give him or her a better place to put them, or ensure the place where you don't want them placed is occupied. It's your partner, not your aunt visiting for tea.

9 Being completely incapable of empathizing

Yes, that would be a (somtimes funny ) stereotype. Categorically stating stereotypes actually make you come off as an ass.

8 Thinking “men’s rights” are a thing

Ah, yes, that whole incapable of empathizing thing. Which gender were you did you say?

7 Spitting and snot rocketing in public

Good grief, are you picking up men at the nearest Orc bar?

6 Gaming.

Or, you know, try being more interesting than pimply faced teenagers in a computer game? No? You're not really selling me on you here...

5 Leaving the toilet seat up.

Fine, we can leave it down. And no I won't pee on it. The bathroom sink is a much better height anyway.

(seriously though; if that's such a big deal, get a urinal and explain to any guests how you're an adult in 2015 who has relationship issues around toilet seats).

4 Playing hot and cold with your feelings.

It sounds like you're giving off some very odd signals to cause that. Are your 'reciprocal feelings' things like opening up about how vulnerable 4 out of 5 college women getting raped every week makes you feel? That could certainly result in a somewhat frosty situation...

3 Having disgusting nails (and hands).

If it's such a big deal to you, I don't mind a manicure. And see, we have another good way to ensure those wandering hands don't end up where you don't want them.

2 Acting like a baby when sick.

Right, if you're down, don't whine about it just suck on the fucking shotgun like a real man. Hang on, there's that stereotype thing again, what gender were you and who did you say had the empathy problem?

1 Calling us crazy.

Calling you would indeed be crazy. And there's this wise saying that applies in this case: don't stick your dick in you.

edit: formatting

(seriously though; if that's such a big deal, get a urinal and explain to any guests how you're an adult in 2015 who has relationship issues around toilet seats)

Genius! Why don't home bathrooms offer a urinal alcove along with a toilet?

[–]ezetemp 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Heh, I actually had that same question when the idea popped into my head. Apparently there are urinals you can get for ordinary homes, from some weird add-ons to the toilet to something more like just another piece of bathroom equipment.

[–]Mitschu 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

10: Funnily enough, nobody ever gets on women's cases for adjusting their bras in public, or straightening pantyhose that has started to wrinkle, or even discreetly picking their thongs out of their asscracks when it starts to dig in. But god forbid your balls itch or slip into an uncomfortable position, and you try to alleviate the problem. Hell, we can't even catch a break for sitting comfortably in empty subways anymore.

9: "Ugh, you men and your feelings, or lack thereof. I’m no idiot; I know that most guys will never be as sensitive, or as emotional, or as romantic as women." That's called not being sensitive and emotionally in tune with men. Kinda rich to call people out for not being sensitive in an article where you completely dismiss their pontential capacity for sensitivity. I could just as easily hypocritically claim that Jews aren't humans, and then argue that it follows that they (being non-humans) don't respect non-Jewish people's humanity. Man, only someone as non-human as a Jew could dismiss an entire group's humanity based on superficial demographic characteristics! Fucking stereotyping bigots, every last one of them without exception!

8: Dismisses an entire group's innate humanity by mockingly quoting back at them their stance on their innate humanity, and telling them to shut up. I was a little too quick on the draw with the "only non-humans see others as non-humans" hyperbole above. Also, "Yes, we know, which is why your gender has had every advantage over women since the dawn of time." bullshit. Even most advantages would be easily dismissed as typical feminist propaganda without any basis in reality, but they had to take it a step further into bullshit territory with every advantage. An extraordinary claim like that requires only one counter-example to disprove it. Is the author really arguing that she can't think of one example, throughout all of history, where women have had any advantage (no matter how slight) over men? At all? Never? None?

7: Self-admits to not understanding nor caring about even rudimentary biology nor why she needs to perform their functions, proceeds to tell men that they shouldn't perform basic biological functions. I don't really need to address this further.

6: Oh, more male gamer shaming. But remember folks, only women in gaming are harassed, denigrated, and shamed for being gamers. I mean, under the new anti-online-bullying laws, shouldn't all male gamers be free to open a mass suit against the author for this article harassing them?

5: "Imagine practically falling into the toilet every time you go to pee. That’s what we go through because of your laziness." So lemme get this straight... because you're so lazy you can't even be bothered to check the toilet seat before sitting down on it, men are lazy? The author then goes on to shame men for pissing on the toilet seat... well guess what, by your own reasoning, we wouldn't piss on the seat if women weren't so lazy about not putting it back up when done. If women constantly face the risk of falling in because looking to see if it is down is too difficult, then men constantly face the risk of pissing on the seat because looking to see if it is up is too difficult. Quid pro quo.

4: Projection? I honestly can't recall a single time I've ever heard the complaint that men are emotionally instable roller coasters... but the opposite is a very common complaint. Also, didn't you just get done saying that men are not as emotional as women? Now we're MORE emotional? Which is it?

3: Hygeine is good to have. Of course, the reasonable request for clipping nails and washing hands is then followed with using hand lotion. Ya know, I don't use hand lotion at all. When I worked in an office, it made my hands disgustingly slimy and slippery, not good when part of your job description is warmly and firmly greeting clients. When I worked as a manual laborer... god's wounds, you know how many people I could have killed if my hands had slipped even once while operating heavy machinery or team lifting heavy furniture down stairs? Honestly, you can keep lotioning your hands because you don't need to do serious work, but for those men and women who do, our only concern is how long until these blisters turn into new callouses, because callouses at least are somewhat useful to have. Also, the only soap I need is a bucket of orange degreaser.

2: Once again, the man-flu is brought up. You know, someone with more sensitivity and emotional empathy (see point #9) might show sympathy to people who frequently experience illnesses worse than others do, instead of mocking them constantly for it. Just a thought, when my close female friends get sick, I don't immediately start mocking them out for girl-flu and telling them to woman up because I've had worse, I get them some fucking chicken noodle soup and a hot towel and nurse them back into health. THAT'S emotionality, sensitivity, and arguably even a bit romantic.

1: Shut up, you dumb, crazy bitch.

[–]Arby01 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Shut up, you dumb, crazy bitch.

that was my response to the complete article upon reading the last sentence - good on you.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

8: "which is why your gender has had every advantage over women since the dawn of time."

She's right. Early deaths by disease, injury, and warfare. Dying early is a clear advantage in life.

Yes, men started the wars but why did we start them? Resources. And how come we need so many resources?

To take care of women and children of course. Being a community resource for the survival of the species is such a significant advantage. Who doesn't want to be a martyr!? Obviously death by black-lung disease, maiming in factory accidents, and warfare to secure resources for women and children is so obviously a patriarchal construct to keep women down.

[–]Daredevilpwn 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Holy crap, the entitlement. Especially the gaming one. If you don't like my hobby, then fuck off. Let me play some dank souls in peace god dammit.

Worth reading if not just for the comments.

[–]Scimitar66 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have had two successful, long-term (>1 year) relationships with feminist women with whom my opinions about gender issues and men's rights were not an issue. I'm not interested in women who care more about my politics than my personality and character anyway.
