Its not surprising seeing as a lot of entertainment media portray mental instability and violence as just a funny quirk when it comes to female characters while also poking fun at the male victim for being too much of a "pussy" to defend himself.

Honestly, society is broken as fuck when people find the abuse of ANYONE to be funny.

The fact that it has to be pointed out that, no, it's not funny and that they wouldn't be laughing if we were talking about a woman.

Just, what the fuck, society?

How did we get to this point? Is this ANYONES idea of equality? One side is treated like a joke and the second they say something it's " Oh, male privilege. Women are totally still oppressed." etc. Such mixed up bullshit.

" I know no one takes you seriously as a victim of abuse because you have a penis...But you totally have no right to complain. Men aren't oppressed at all." Ha, now THERE is a laugh.

I am nearly 28 years old. When the fuck does this "male privilege" kick in? And why is being laughed at for being a victim of abuse a "privilege"?

I've probably seen more than my fair share of Jeremy Kyle's show over time (it's not something I'm proud of!) but one thing I do respect him for is his willingness to actually stand up for male guests when the situation calls for it. He's always made a point of saying "it's funny that if the roles were the other way around and it was the man behaving this way you'd all be disgusted."

Just want to point out that one of the reason people laugh is because they're uncomfortable...

Doesn't make laughing acceptable in this situation, but... it doesn't mean they thought it was actually funny, not all of them anyway.
