Been thru this, wife cheated multiple times, divorced with three teenagers.

Fight to your last dollar for 50/50. It was the difference between 1500.00+/month and about 200.00 a month( I live in MN). I also pay for and hold the health insurance for the kids which factors into the calculations for child support (this is spelled out in my divorce decree). Your state may have a different formula so best to check with dept of human services or the equivalent in your state.

A good lawyer is also very helpful. My ex made it as drawn out and complicated as possible so In the long run, paying the absurd lawyer fees paid for itself time and again post-divorce. I don't use this word often but I have not and will not give that cunt anything more than I am legally obligated to.

Yep, been there. Cheating, lazy wife and I paid big time. I would have felt better if there was some control over how it was spent but the courts don't care or just don't have the resources to monitor it. Make sure they impute income to her.

Get all the custody you can! It makes a huge difference, also whoever gets over 50% gets the IRS write off so they usually give women just over .50%

I'm in NY. I have 50/50 custody but she stopped working so I got destroyed on alimony and child support. No helping that. The one thing I would recommend, based on your state, are the rules regarding residential custody. Even though I am 50/50 custody. The ex was awarded residential custody and I lost a lot of my rights because of that. I would speak to your attorney to see how that can be handled in your case.

There is usually a form/calculator that figures it out.

Input number of kids, the kids expenses, 50/50 custody, your income, and your ex wife’s income. And it spits out a number.

It just comes down to how much more you earn.

The fact that she cheated super sucks, but it doesn’t matter at all. Get over it. It’s a wonderful thing that you’re divorcing this awful person. Stay focused on the positives.

It depends on the state. If your in Texas someone is gonna be on the hook for 30% regardless if it is 50/50. Other states look at the income of both parents.

My ex is furious he has to keep the kids <4 days a month -- violating the custodial orders -- and he has to pay child support. Egads!

I am now a single mom with 2 teens with a high level professional career and zero help to maintain the home. Plus 5 therapy appts each week! Lol

In TX - 20% for 1 kid. 5% for each additional kid.

Marriage is hard. Divorce is never ideal. Good luck!

Go online and calculate what you will owe in child support. I did it before going to the office and it was accurate

I suggest you bring your kids to counseling and ask the court to appoint a guardian ad litem for them. Make sure you bring them. The court will rely on the therapist's notes. Let the therapist know she's a serial cheater and you are worried about who she could be bringing around them. Very important. Dating should not be on your radar right now. It could be used against you. Stay clean. Ask for custody of the kids. Try to show you are the stable parent. At least try for 50/50 OR custody of at least 2 of the kids as long as they want to be with you. Fight her for alimony. Find a really good attorney.

My assumption is that if someone cheats, its called adultery and they are not entitled to alimony. If you have 50/50 custody, you dont necessarily have to pay child support, you just make sure all their needs and wants are taken care of. I live in NJ and I know the law differs in every state. But the courts here take both parents into account and will make her find a job anf also be responsible for finances as well. Im familiar with child support, I have 2 kids lol

I feel for all you men. Single mom here. My ex and I split our time with our daughter 50/50. When she was little, we both paid for our own diapers at our houses, split daycare. Now we still split costs for after school activities, school supplies, supply our own medicines clothes and food for her at our own houses. so I never put him on child support. Never saw it necessary being he’s doing his half. I do claim her every year on my taxes though. He’s makes more than me, and there’s a few small differences through the year like for example if she’s sick I’m the one that’s gonna take off work and take her to the dr etc. so I claim her. And that’s it. People urge me all the time to put him on child support, but as long as he does his half, I won’t do that to him. My gain would result in his struggle.
