my case is pretty cut and dry re: asset splits, the issue is really going to be how much alimony do i pay(NJ). married 12 years, 2young kids, filed for divorce because she was cheating. STBX is a flight attendant with 22 years seniority and makes $70/hour, but she is lazy AF. she has never really put in any time actually working other than an occasional international trip that goes from friday through sunday and is barely worth any hours and just allows her to go out drinking and fucking randoms. her side claims she can only make $55k per year, which would put me around 1800/month for ~7 years? $55k/yr equates to working 15 hours a week. we are doing 50/50 custody and im keeping the house and paying her equity, which will be a lot. she is also going to get a huge sum from my 401k and a shitton of stock and fully paid off honda pilot and no debt. we are trying mediation and im not hopeful this is going to work, at all. i do pretty well for myself $$ wise(salaried) and if you look at it from a strictly hourly rate she actually makes almost $10/hour MORE than i do. WTF would i agree to an imputed income # of $55k, and why should i be paying alimony at all? we are using a retired judge for mediation, has anyone gotten fucked with alimony in mediation, cancelled the whole thing, fired their lawyer, then went to trial and had a completely different result?
