The dating apps worked well for me…once I figured it out. Some simple rules: 1. The fake profiles are obvious in most cases 2. About 50-60% of people are just looking for a chat buddy. If they don’t want to meet after 2-3 days, they are either a fake profile or looking for a chat buddy 3. It’s a numbers game-you neeed to look at a lot of profiles… 4. It will be expensive. You need to send paid likes to succeed, unfortunately 5. Make an effort to improve your photos and profile-get advice from others

Meeting in real life sounds nice in theory but the reality is that dating has now shifted to the point that the apps are a necessary evil and the most common way to meet.

As others have said, this was also not my (56M) experience. You learn to recognize the fake profiles pretty quickly. Stay in your age range and know your type.

I’ve met a wonderful woman and we’re seeing what we can build together.

Someone pretends to be a hot girl on Hinge, gets a ton of likes from thirsty men, and you come to the Divorce Men subreddit to say that the apps are trash?

I think the conclusion would be men trying to pull 'hot girls' that are out of your league is likely a waste of time.

I was at a restaurant the other day watching a guy at the bar swipe on Tinder/Hinge, while he was talking to a buddy. He spent maybe a half second on each woman before swiping right or left (usually right.) He didn't read a single profile.

I'm not sure women are the problem here.

I did well on the apps and met a lot of interesting women, but I stayed in my age range and didnt bother with the obvious attention seekers (those a little too glammed up and those prompting you to follow them on IG.) Plus, in my age group, there aren't so many like that.

This is not my experience. I met several interesting women on the apps, including my girlfriend of over a year now. Most of my friends met their partners on apps. Yes they can be toxic but they don't have to be. I found the whole experience fun.

Worked fine for me a couple of years ago... I know plenty of friends who dating apps also worked for.

If you’re doing 50 push-ups in one go per day you immediately get a seat on the city council of Chadville.

Many of the women are vapid bloodsuckers but not all. Lot of fatfishing to wade through.

Also you need to line up 3 firm dates to get one.

The app is for getting a date full stop. While some of you are talking about your Lego collection I am just lining up dates.

I had to get in shape, get my teeth fixed, get a new hairstyle, and get some good pictures to go from famine to feast.

Yeah, I remember just walking up to a lady, gently placing my hand on her arm and telling her she was beautiful. She lit up like a Christmas tree.

I've had some decent success in the past with the apps. No idea how they are now. Maybe try something like eHarmony?

Most of those apps just end in ONSs, from her or me.

The worst is when the send pics of them 20 years younger or using filters so when you meet them it's a shi_show.

I was on Match 10 years ago. I asked a woman with two kids who was going through a divorce what she brought to the table. She got mad, reported me and had my account suspended. Match kept the $80. I had only been using it a week too.

That was my last experience with dating apps.

They’re tools. Some can use them and some can’t.
