Yep same story. Its a weakness if you ask me. She can find time for her man and try and work things out in her head by seeking therapy. But we all know what probably will happen next. Same story different family.

wow..... sounds like my soon to be ex wife. but the kids all just hit 18 and older now she want this fantasy romance she seeking out with someone else. she just villainizes me so she can make her not so clean exit. we could have worked on things i told her i was willing. and we wernt even that bad off we did a ton off fun things and had a great sex life. my 80% didnt do enough for her so now she seeks that 20% with some one else.

The “monotony” - this didn’t bother me in my marriage because the monotony of married life was exactly what I wanted for starters. BUT one thing I’ve gained from the divorce is coming to peace with the existentialist and/or nihilist outlook that there is nothing in life that will ever permanently chase away that existential dread of “Is this all there is?!” At some point you just have to choose that life is worth living for you for whatever reasons you come up with - and no matter how “exciting” a life you chase after, you will still find yourself sucked into monotony. Pulling this thread is inviting yourself into an endless, torturous cycle of unhappiness and discontentment until you die. Life is monotony, but that doesn’t mean it’s hell.

My ex went through the exact same things described by this. Went through an early midlife crisis because for the first time in her life she had to start thinking about her weight (and she was NOT overweight), and got disillusioned with the “monotony” of married life. Refused to believe I desired her and found her sexy no Matt her what I said or did, because she didn’t believe it about herself. Found an older, wealthier man who made her feel desired bc he was willing to pursue her sexually and cross the boundary of her being married, and he absolutely convinced her that putting in the work on herself and her attitude toward her life was the wrong approach and that I was the problem. She literally came up with this narrative that I was somehow emotionally abusive to her even though I was an amazing, thoughtful, caring, and present husband. Neither her personal counselor nor our couples counselor agreed with her or would support her claims, but that didn’t matter to her. Anything she could do to justify her exit, and I hope she never shakes the guilt of what she’s put our mutual families, our kids, and myself through for her to take a step sideways and still end up having to deal with everything she was unhappy with about herself and her life.

you guys are right, we all have to make sacrifices and men will do that. single women will band together and talk the married ones into leaving for that greener pasture

i lived that. my ex’s girlfriends where always encouraging married women to follow their feelings of being happy but oh, dont make your marriage better though.

This is the epidemic we are facing, gentlemen. The “me” generation. Women (and men) and being told that they are special, and that their happiness matters more than the collective. Women will torpedo a marriage, their kids lives and certainly the lives of their husbands if it means they can find “happiness”.

Families take effort. Marriages take effort. And part of that effort is some type of sacrifice. Most men that I know happily sacrifice many things for the betterment of their families. In my very jaded opinion, I think you see a lot less of that mentality from women today. That woman is lining up all her reasons to justify her leap into cheating on her husband. It’s an epidemic of selfishness. Keep your chins up!

Well, to be honest, most of the advice she got was encouraging, from a man's perspective. No one telling her to cut and run, most telling her NOT to overreact to her current situation.

That said, we know what's likely to happen. She'll opinion shop until she finds a toxic group that will blame all her woes on her husband, encourage her to cheat, and promise her that the dating world is full of hot, rich men , just waiting for a dumpy, middle aged woman to come on the scene.
