They don't want to go to trial. They want you to work it out and settle. Attorneys could be afraid of trial, but none of them like it and avoid it like the plague. The judges expect you guys to settle, they don't want to listen to you gripes for a whole day either.

motions for continuance usually mean one of three things: her lawyer isn't ready, she's stalling to gain leverage or bleed you financially, or she's trying to use time to her advantage somehow (maybe hoping you'll cave on terms to just get it done). The first continuance for the appraisal makes sense if the third appraisal wasn't ready, that's procedural. The second one to March with no clear reason? That's either her lawyer being disorganized or her side playing a delay game. Ask your attorney straight up what the reason given was for the second continuance and whether this is a pattern you should be concerned about. If she's stalling to drain your resources or hoping you'll settle for less just to end it, don't take the bait. Stay patient, keep your finances organized, and let your attorney handle the pushback if it's strategic nonsense. Delays are frustrating but don't let them pressure you into a bad deal.

Going through my divorce, my attorney was having health issues and asked for 2 continuances because of her health flare ups. It wan’t for anything but that, and due to how shady my ex had been, she wouldn’t allow any associates take her place. It was worth the wait for me

The more the attorneys drag it out, the more money they make.

In terms of a more innocent and possible explanation, attorneys frequently push dates because of their own scheduling conflicts.
