Alright, so my last post was talking about male loneliness, but let me provide a bit of context to my positions, specifically regarding gender issues between men and women.
So first and foremost, I believe men and women have different and specific shades of issues they face in society, some of which I haven't experienced since I haven't been in the lived experience of a woman.
I would by no means think 'x' issue is bigger than 'y' issue, however, I guess in the context of my previous post being about dating I suppose from my own perspective it's quite bleak for a lot of men compared to women on and off dating apps.
So, I do believe sex and emotional intimacy can have a huge impact on people, can be an important component of building self-confidence, and in general, good for development as a person. But I will clarify I do not see it as men should be entitled to woman's autonomy, but what I will say is I think a lot of what makes male specific loneliness so depressing and difficult is the fact women will always have more options, and only a small threshold of men are going to have success with these platforms (or just in general).
Given the way society is, it's actually quite difficult making new friends as an adult, even more so if you are unattractive like my friend I spoke about in my post. He is a really genuine guy and doesn't let these things get to him and become toxic about it, but I can definitely tell it bothers him because even on nights out with him there have been women that have literally rinsed him for his height or appearance, and he's had similar experiences with dating. He can be socially awkward, but that's really been a consequence of his loneliness.
I've been in a similar postion to him because I had an abusive family growing up and was only diagnosed with autism in later life - from there I started picking up the pieces, attending therapy, and cultivating a better life and mindset for myself.
Anyway, I guess my biggest concern I had with my post is that women don't seem to take men's issues seriously and I feel often they prioritise their own emotions and needs first in pretty much every scenario, especially when it comes to loaded topics. Now of course that's just my experience, but a lot of men I know share the same sentiment, and I imagine they would on this subreddit.
I don't want this to come across as accusatory, but rather look for some reassurance, some words of wisdom, and constructive criticism of my perspective and maybe offer your own perspectives of male issues as a woman because I genuinely believe MOST women simply do not care about male issues or even understand them.
