They do not have a childhood.

I use to work at a middle school and I would hear students talk about porn every day. It was gross.

I remember one day a student came up to me and he was like, "Teacher, what is P-O-R-N? What does it mean?" and his classmates just started laughing at him.

At this point, I had enough...I was one of the youngest staff members and a lot of the boys there were inappropriate with me (staff didn't care).

I seriously thought he was fucking with me so I said, "I don't know X why don't we walk to the office together and ask the principal?" and once again his friends just started screaming and laughing at him.

You know what this kid said!? He was like "Okay, let's go I wanna ask him because I don't know what that word means.. and everyone keeps talking about it." The relief I felt...he genuinely didn't know! I was so proud of his parents!

I think if there is one thing we should teach young girls is that they don't have to do everything/things they don't want. It is the one thing that I see as a thread through all these stories, from the girls who were abused by Armie Hammer to random stories I read here on reddit and from friends.

When we are teens especially, we are so vulnerable to being taken advantage of because the rule seems to be "going with the flow" or simply "thinking this is what we have to do or what is supposed to feel good for us". Or if you don't do X, you're a prude, you're frigid, etc... And even when we know it's wrong, we still do it. Whether by pressure, or because we are conditioned by things like porn, but even regular pop culture and media. And it's worse now, than it was 10 or 20 yrs ago.

Most women have to individually reach a point where they realize, oh I don't have to do these things I don't like so I won't anymore. And unfortunately for many of us there is a lot of hurt in that realization.
