Submarining and temperature reading are both sides of the same coin. A love interest or ex who is submarining you is someone who has either left your life after a break up or is wanting to be in a relationship with you (but hasn't shown outward commitment) but they keep showing up in your life. It's a guy who was in your life or that you're in a talking stage with that disappears for a while and shows up again like nothing happened. Women are all too familiar with the "how are you?' text or the "I was thinking about you" message on social media. A guy you had almost forgotten about rears his ugly head and destroys the emotional strength you had garnered over the break up. The messages seem sweet. Wouldn't you be mean not to respond? NOOOO! These men are trying to see where their place is still in your life. They expect you to come running back or to return their faux compliments in kind, when honestly they just want to f*ck or they would have kept the relationship going in the first place. The testing the water, or temperature reading, you is a very lvm tactic because its insidious in it not being forthright. Instead of being real, honest, and upfront, the veiled and unclear messages will leave you confused and vulnerable to being gaslight. They have no respect for you to try these low, pick up artist acts and they're honestly insulting your intelligence. Block and delete LVM like FDS says as soon as you break up! I cannot stress this point enough. Leave the past in the past and don't make the same mistake twice.
