When I was a teen and visited my friend's house, I know of a man (a father) who clearly told all of his girls that "women should be a gold digger".

He said "I don't raise my girls with all my love to be a maid of another man. I raised her as my princess. She has to be a queen. I clothed her, I educated her, and I will not want my daughter to be living in poor."

I have worked hard to earn a decent income (not anything crazy high by any means but enough to live comfortably with savings) and I’ve dated men with no money at all (and debt!) and married a guy who earns well. Lemme tell you, a relationship with someone who’s broke is shit. You can’t do anything. You can’t go on holiday. You’ll never have the security of your own property. You can’t afford kids, or if you have them anyway you subject them to a crap upbringing they don’t deserve. You either bust your arse earning to carry you both in resentment or suffer living in poverty.

It’s not worth it. I’m happily married and we earn well and I’d advise any woman to work hard to secure their own income and only date and marry men in a similar position.

I don’t need a millionaire, just a career minded guy earning £40k+ who is financially sensible and saves. It’s not too much to ask for when that’s what I also bring to the table.

This economy was made and created for Men to thrive. I have no sympathy for a man who doesn't have. If he doesn't have a savings, trusts, stocks, IRA's or assets of any kind. Drop his ass.

A woman cannot be fully secure and comfortably in love when the relationship is not only broken but BROKE. Let's see how the love is still aflame when you are having a literal candle lit dinner because your lights are off for lack of payment. How romantic? We not only need emotional security but financial as well.

I've heard countless amounts of stories of women building a man up. He then leaves her for some one "younger and skinnier". The woman he actually wanted but couldn't afford. She is then distraught and almost loses her mind, self esteem shot to pieces.

My intelligent, beautiful and capable Ladies. I know you can do it. I know you can be that bad ass independent woman. But you don't have to do it all. Date up! Marry up! You deserve that gorgeous rock on your left hand, you deserve that dream wedding, you deserve that 5 bedroom house in a gated community, you deserve to have a man that has the upmost adoration for you! A man that puts YOU first. You have put everyone before yourself for too long. It's time for you to sit back and enjoy.

If that makes you a "Gold digger" who tf cares? They can call you whatever you want while you're just getting back from your 3 week vacation in Cabo.

I use to think that being “understanding” and “non judgmental” made me a good person. Years later I’m happy I dropped the silly trope. Some of us are taught to not judge a man by his pockets or life goals or how many kids he has. It’s a trap to date broke, lazy, irresponsible and un-ambitious men. That’s why men hated the song Scrubs so much. There is no FAVOR we have to give to make these kinds of men feel good about themselves. Save yourselves I’ll be called “stuck up” or “high maintenance ” any day then settling at least I’m happy and without stress. It’s not my job to make myself more affordable for a LVM.

Ladies, don't assume a man with means will be generous towards you.

My ex bf had a $80,000 salary 1 year out of university and he still acted broke towards me. I was making a minimum wage salary and he wanted me to pay for $8 ice cream so it shows that I was "making contributions to the relationship." For comparison, I made about $8 per hour (after taxes) while he made over $30 (after taxes). He believed this was right because of feminism. Meanwhile, his mother and sister (self proclaimed feminists) were immensely spoiled by his father. I think seeing this unfairness made him subconsciously be the complete opposite of his father.

I broke up with him a month after this because the red flag turned into a red balloon parade. We dated for about 2 years but he showed no relationship progression. I wasn't going to wait around any longer while he neglected the relationship for his career advancement. Towards the end of the relationship, he started to treat me like a mere employee, not a girlfriend.

The 50s wasn't perfect by any means but I do have to give the baby boomers credit on this one. The man would always pay for the date and if the woman even brought up the idea of splitting the bill he'd be embarrassed

Yeah my last boyfriend was kinda poor. He still got me things and paid for stuff but he was far more conscious of what he spent in general.

I cared about him and couldn't ignore it. So I was less demanding. And then, I was just really bored because the relationship devolved to doing everything cheaper.

I'm lucky that my first boyfriend was incredibly HV; even though he was a broke 17 year old high school dropout from the other side of the world, within 3 months of meeting me he got a part-time job and went back to school to complete his diploma just so he could save up to fly and see me. He saved 2.5kUSD over the course of a year and a half so he could spend it on a week treating me to Disneyland and expensive dates, all without the expectation of sex.

Unfortunately I broke up with him because people at school would bully me for my "fake online boyfriend", but I'm really grateful that he set the standard for what a true HV man looks like.

Men have no excuse for being cheap towards a girl they really like!
