There’s a big difference between jealousy and boundary pushing.

It’s OK to feel angry or upset that your partner is spending alone time with another woman.

It’s OK to feel angry or upset that your partner is following scantily clad women on social media.

It’s OK to feel angry or upset that your partner goes out for a night on the town “with the boys” and suddenly stops texting you.

You are not being “jealous” or “possessive”. You’re reacting the way any normal person would.

I’m sick and tired of the cool girl trope and pushing the idea of tolerating this kind of behaviour on the basis of trust for your partner.

If the tables were turned, would your partner be ok with you hanging out with a man alone? Would your partner be ok with you following scantily clad men? Would your partner be ok if you went on a “girls night out” and stopped texting him suddenly?

9 times out of 10, the answer is NO.

These are basic boundaries that are part of the foundation of a healthy relationship. There can’t be a double standard.

It’s in your right to feel some type of way that your boundaries have been violated. And in any situation in life, when your boundaries have been violated by someone, that “someone” doesn’t deserve to have a presence in your life at all.

Never forget that.
