Omg way too many times. Once my brother and I were exercising at his gym when there weren't a lot of other people. They had a long line of treadmills that were all empty. I pick one to get on and this scrote chooses to STRETCH on a treadmill right next to me. He puts his leg up on the machine and he's pointing his crotch in my direction... while wearing these loose itty-bitty shorts. He was totally trying to give me an eyefull of his little peepee. I was so happy that my brother saw what was going on and came over. He talked to me while staring at the guy to make him uncomfortable until he left so I could finish my run. He said he'd never seen anything so blatantly creepy. I told him that's just a day in the life of a woman.

I'm in the process of buying a house that's big enough to have a personal gym and I couldn't be happier!

One thing I've done that works is squarely loudly calmly say, "IS THERE A PROBLEM HERE?" And then everyone looks. Stay loud and calm. If they say, "no, there's no problem here!" you say "YOU WERE FILMING ME, THAT FEELS LIKE A PROBLEM. ARE YOU FILMING?" And by that point management is on it if it's a gym or pool or such. I've done this with teenagers picking on me, fraternity children, old men and young men in the street. It usually works well. I hope this helps someone.

Exactly why I won't use a public gym. I have a TotalGym, treadmill, weights, yoga mat, etc at home where I can work out in privacy. Even if I didn't have space for equipment, I'd rather do floor workout or dance to YouTube vids or TV than goto a public gym. I wouldn't mind a public women's-only gym...does such a thing exist?

Men are one of the main things that perpetuates my social anxiety. The only time I ever felt comfortable at a gym was when I went with a boyfriend and they left me alone/didn’t stare. Sad that men only respect other men.

This has happened to me several times... sorry you had to go through that. It is humiliating and disgusting and also threatening. I can understand why you would want to go to a woman's gym...

One of my techniques is to 'out bro' them so when a guy tries it, instead of giving them the satisfaction of showing my emotions, fear or 'femininity', I will just step to them in a very unattractive and manly way - "hey! what you doin bro? fuck outta here with your bitch ass". Just imagine how they would react if a gay man tried it on them... then react the same way. It really throws things off balance.

I remember this one time I was in line for a pull-up machine and this guy who had also been waiting for about 10-15 minutes and staring at me decided to come to me just as it was my turn, out of all the guys we had been waiting for, he only decides to come up to me and ask me "how many rounds you got planned?". It's a pull-up machine, you can't do more than 10-20 pull-ups without your arms giving in so he was clearly just being a sleazy piece of shit. I immediately out bro-ed him with a "I dunno man, wait for your turn bro. Everyone has been waiting". I made it seem like he was being impatient and rude rather than chatting me up cause in their sick, disgusting little worlds, chatting a woman up when she is clearly vulnerable and not available isn't the bad part, they think it makes them alpha to the other men standing around. Instead, I made him look like the bitch ass punk he really is.

My brother put together a whole home gym for me that cost him close to thousands, just so I can exercise in my cute clothes in the safety of my home.

Not only that, but he often buys me cutesy gymwear instead of blaming me for attracting the attention of creeps. This man used to be an honest to god idiot. Blaming women, not understanding the genuine fear we live in, a literal plug, and now he’s a junior doctor, advocating for victims of slut shaming and assault, all kinds of sincere feminist stuff and all by himself.

There are creeps at my gym too. This one dude in particular has to be like over 50, he’ll do something on a smith machine then hang on the bar as he stares at everyone for a good few minutes. The squat racks are directly across and more than once I’ve been sumo deadlifting directly across from him and feeling awkward af that my ass is in the air and this dude can stare freely. I only ever used to wear long shirts which covered my ass. I wear crop tops now and essentially tune out everyone around me. I definitely get a feeling of discomfort. I’ve never caught anyone recording me though, I’d probably flip if I did.

They are creepy, I had a scrote in his 50s ask for my number, men stare or come near me with their stale days old sweat. Just horrible, I have a small chest and imagine it would be much worse for ladies with bigger chests. We've got two women's only gyms down my way but they are out of my price range. I'm not well enough to go to the gym right now anyway, not unless I want heart failure.

I had an old man stand next to me (Pre Covid times) while I was running on the treadmill...In a BAGGY T-shirt and BAGGY gym pants. I was also 50 lbs overweight at the time. He looked at my running speed and just said things like, "4? 4 speed?" (He was Indian). This happened a few times...sometimes with his WIFE A FEW FEET AWAY! Whenever our conversation was "over", he'd pick the treadmill next to mine to walk on. Grant it, there were only 3, but the third one was empty, and most people would pick the spot, machine furthest from people anyways...hell even men have the golden rule not to use the urinal next to someone else!

I asked my husband to join me at the gym...when the guy came over, my husband stood next to me while I finished my workout and...that old guy kept staring at him.

We switched gyms soon after that.

But yeah..even in baggy clothing, and fat...I still got harassed.

I would have reported him. I just had some man follow me when so went on a walk. He kept crossing the street when I would turn around to see if he was still there.
