how do you handle being catfished/fatfished?

It's all about prescreening. You can exchange pics through the apps before meeting up (as a general rule, don't give out your social media accounts to strangers and don't move off old platforms to other messaging services until you've thoroughly vetted a guy). If the pic looks old, low quality, or suspicious ask for a video chat. If they refuse or make stupid excuses as to why they can't, block and move on. If you know their first and last name you can Google search for social media accounts and such.

Basically, if anything seems sketchy, it probably is. Don't waste your time on sketchy people. Block them early and often. Don't look back.

I had an OKC date with a guy that looked attractive enough in his pictures. It wasn’t until he smiled at me that I realized why he wasn’t smiling in any of his photos. He was missing several teeth. There was no 2nd date.

There's nothing wrong with saying "I don't date liars" and then walking out.

You can also "go to the bathroom" and never return.

This is a good reason I would not internet date.

Before going on the date you could also ask for a current photo with him making a certain hand signal or something so that you "know he's a real person".

You can also cut the date short by saying something like you still wanted to come but unfortunately something came up and you can only stay for "a drink".

Last time this happened, I turned around and walked out, then blocked his number and blocked him on the app because at this point in my life I will not be disrespected like that. Don’t lie to me. I take care of myself physically and I expect the same from men. I’m not attracted to bald or fat men period no exceptions. Any man that has the audacity to waste my time like that is getting walked out on immediately.

To avoid this in the first place, absolutely no dates with anyone who doesn’t have a hatless pic and full body (recent). Any pictures that look years old or grainy are automatic no’s.

I'm 5'3, and when I was 17 (I'm 21) I went out with a guy who claimed to be 5'6. Since there was a considerable difference I figured it wouldn't be awkward if I wore platforms on the date. I wore a pair of platforms that weren't even that high to begin with, and when I saw him I was baffled by how shorter he was than me. I decided to keep it cool, but after 20 minutes I couldn't pretend anymore and left. I ghosted him and he kept bothering me with texts asking why I didn't like the date, and I actually felt a little bad, thinking I may have underestimated the size of my platforms. But then I met my current best friend, who is 5'6, and she is way taller than me, even when I'm wearing heels and she's wearing flats. That guy was just a catfishing manlet.

I'll be super rude and find a way to leave. If they ask what they did wrong I tell them. One guy somehow didn't even realize how fat he was. Got him back in the gym 😂😂😂

I got hatfished a lot more than fatfished. balding men in their 20s lol. I no more accept dates with men who do not fully show a hatless picture and a no full figure picture. when I was young I was naive and did not figure men lied as the common narrative is that women lie...

Bumble has a "verify" feature where they ask you to make a particular hand gesture and take a selfie, to make sure you're a real person and look like your profile pics. Then you get a blue check mark next to your name. I only swipe right on verified profiles. Of course that doesn't prevent them from hiding their fat gut or lying about their height or many other things, but at least it ensures they still resemble their profile pics.
