I was having a conversation with one of my sisters friends the other night and the topic of her relationship was brought up and she talked about how she was becoming pretty impatient with the guy. I’ve never met him but she swears by him and I like her quite a bit she’s always seemed to have her head on straight, but when we were talking she told me how much she hates waiting around for him to finally ask her to marry him since they had been together for four years and had basically lived together for one of them. I didn’t really feel helpful in the situation because I’ve yet to really be in a long term relationship where marriage was even considered but I still don’t really know how to feel about her seeming to want to rush in with this marriage. If marriage ought to be for the rest of your life, four years does not seem like a whole lot of time to put into dating in terms of making sure you’ve found a complete HVM but both my sister and her friend told me that HVM wouldn’t make you wait or drag you along. I can’t argue with their logic so I feel like I should ask, how long is too long to wait for a marriage proposal? How long should I feel comfortable waiting and in the same sense how soon?
