It is so sad to see a young woman in college say “dating apps are all I have”, “what’s wrong with me” and “I’ll never meet a guy like my ex”.

What scares you about deleting dating apps?

You are in college! Focus on school and have fun with friends.

Society has planted the seed in your brain that you have to be in a relationship, dating or looking for love to be normal.

It’s complete bullshit.

A man is not going to enhance your life in some magical way. Statistically, he will make you less happy and hold you back.

Open your eyes to how much you have going for you!

Have the guts to be different and delete those trash apps that did not exist in all of human history until recently, and do much more harm than good.

Men don’t bother to work out or take care of themselves because it’s “feminine” to put effort into your appearance. They laze around watching porn, at work and playing video games. They don’t need to fight off lions or toil in the fields anymore. So the majority of them don’t bother to be fit and just “embrace the dad bod,” and wait for girls to flock to their chubby out of shape selves.

Women, on the other hand, actually put in an effort despite the fact that biologically it’s harder for us to build muscles & lose weight than men. That’s why the girls I’ve seen on tinder are more in shape looking than the men. We also tend to take better care of ourselves regarding drinking and smoking. Even if you’re not concerned about cancer, smoking/drinking destroys your skin.... But to the men that is vanity.

Plus, during the pandemic loads of men have just given up entirely. They put shirtless pics of their abs on tinder and then in real life they’re -20 lbs of muscle and +20 lbs of fat lol. Don’t even get me started on the quarantine beards.

One reason I deleted OLD is because I felt like everyone was unattractive too.. Dating is supposed to pleasant and OLD makes the process very unpleasant for me. (aside from the bad pictures)

I'm the same as you! I had to quit the dating apps because I was always swiping left and thinking to myself "omg why are like all guys so unattractive?" Almost made me feel like I should just swipe right on a few but I decided against that.

I quit all the dating apps. It is possible to meet a HVM on there but I feel like most of the great guys do not use the apps. Try to enjoy school and do well! I also went to a commuter school and still joined a ton of activities and then eventually got a job on campus. I spent a lot of time there and actually never met a boyfriend but I still had the time of my life! Besides I feel like most women and men are way too busy to really support a relationship in uni.

I completely agree. I got on tinder in like 2013? And have been off and on it for the past few years depending on dating life and whatnot. And the quality of men seems to have PLUMMETED. There used to be cute guys that you would regularly swipe right on. Now I will swipe for like 100 swipes and not see one attractive guy. It's pathetic.

I do think a major cause of this is that the LVM were so angry at tinder for years because they didn't get any swipes, and they whined and complained until Tinder changed their algorithm. They used to have an algorithm wherein the most attractive or swiped on people were shown at the top of the pile, which benefited women cause women are way pickier. That was when Tinder was a legitimate option to meet someone you liked. Now that the LVM had their way it's just sorting through video game loser after video game loser, with no HVM in sight for miles.

LVM really thought that if they could just force their way to the front of the line that women would settle for them. Not happening. Women are just deleting the apps. I deleted it, a long time ago, and don't miss it. I'd much rather go out and have random eye contact with a guy in a coffee shop than talk to some lazy guy on OLD- and truthfully OLD made even HVM lazy. So it's not a loss, even if it seems like one at first. The thrill of IRL dating is way better, and you will get that, once this pandemic is over and you;re out in the workforce and everything, it will happen!

I thought it was just my area but yes almost all the men on OLD are just flat out unattractive with gross lifestyles. I don’t understand what’s going on here there has to be attractive men somewhere. I’m 24 and most girls I know my age are attractive. They workout, do their hair, makeup, always in cute outfits so I’m really confused how there’s such a disproportionately small amount of attractive men available for all these beautiful women. Evolution has truly gone wrong somewhere.

I met a HVM on OLD (specifically hinge)

You have to sift through a lot of trash on there to find the treasure. However, you are young and have a long time in front of you to find someone. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself and it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Dating should be fun and not do or die.

Start doing hobbies that interest you and try meeting people from there. Join a church (when they're open again).

Whatever you do avoid putting a time limit on yourself for marriage. I did that. It ended in disaster (quite literally).

It's ok to be single and have standards. You will never feel more alone than being in a relationship where you settle or feel unfulfilled.

If you can, honestly, pay for premium. I do and I'm able to set preferences and dealbreakers. The marijuana especially is nice to filter out. I'm in a legal state, so I know the frustration of seeing guys who for some reason think getting high is a personality trait. The filters only let you see guys who fit your standards (on paper, at least) and keeps you out of the pool for them. You may end up with less options, but at least you're not swiping through guys you're just not interested in.
