Men who ask for commitment too early (first 2 dates usually) aren't actually interested in dating you but in "capturing" you and making sure you are not dating anyone else as he decides whenever he is serious about you or not. Those quick relationships usually end with him ghosting/slowly lowering his effort as he moves on.

Think about it, how do you know someone well enough to decide to date him within 2 dates? i wouldn't. This is also a reason why you should not go on dates that are longer than 2 hours, if you go on 10 hour dates with him he will lose his curiosity and see no reason to see you as he already got to know you well enough and it gives you a false feeling of closure so you are more likely to share info about your past relationships and traumas.

It also shortens the time frame that you will sleep with him, if he went with you on 4 more dates except for those 2 it would be a month longer (assuming you'd wait 3 months) and it makes you more likely to do sexual stuff in general regardless of sex as you are already 'dating' though you've (mostly) not known the person longer than 2 weeks and a half.

Don't fall for this trick, giving commitment too early does not actually promise he will not flirt with other girls as he is still in the mindset of looking to the sides and "maybe the other girl is better for me".

It might be different than refusing commitment and breadcrumbing you and making you think one day you will get the relationship benefits but it serves a similar purpose - both capture you in a way.
