Honestly in the grand scheme her stepsisters were WAY more "pick me" than Cinderella was. All she wanted was a night out to socialize and meet people. She idealized the fuck out of the ball but she lived day in day out as a slave. You probably would too. She didn't even know he was the prince until he came and found her later. The stepsisters were like rabid hyenas trying to shove their feet into the shoe and make the prince love them.

You can argue that they don't recognize each other because she was under the influence of "magic". Miraculous Ladybug does the same thing but in a way that's 10x as infuriating.

Idk. People give disney princesses way too much flack. Cinderella lived day in day out as a slave, of course she'd run out of her situation at the first opportunity. Ariel was enamored with the human world long before she met Eric. Pocahontas chose to go her own way and not marry the man her father chose for her. People even complain that Mulan married the general at the end and didn't be a yasss single kween her whole life. She just saved all of China. She earned the right to marry whoever the hell she wishes.
