I’m not a mom but I see these kinds of posts pop up on Reddit every year so I just want to say to the mothers:

If you birthed his children, feed them, nurture them, drive them to appointments, keep them alive in general, etc and you want him to acknowledge you on Mother’s Day but he DOESN’T: he’s not the one sis. Don’t let him gaslight you with either of with the following:

  1. “You’re not MY mother though. Mother’s Day is to celebrate my own mom.” BS. I buy flowers and gifts for my aunts and grandmothers and cousins every Mother’s Day and they aren’t my mom. If he wanted to, he would.
  2. “It’s just a Hallmark holiday. I don’t need the capitalists to tell me what day I have to celebrate you.” Unless he is already gifting/ showing his appreciation of you regularly, this is also BS. Does he keep that same energy on Christmas or his birthday? Most likely not.

You are not irrational, greedy, or superficial for wanting to feel special on a day that celebrates motherhood.

And to any males lurking who are just dying to jump in my dm’s, I’ll save you the trouble: YES; a high value woman would and should recognize a high value man on Father’s Day. Next caller🙄
