I have never been broken up with, but I have broke up with guys and then gotten back together because they basically begged me and promised to change. Plot twist, they never fucking change. Once I am done with someone and decide it’s over, I emotionally leave the relationship. I think it’s solid advice to not try again because if it didn’t work during what is supposed to be the honeymoon phase of a relationship, it’s not going to work later.

I will further this thought and say that its OKAY if you still love them. But never ever take them back. BUT as Tina once said, what's love got to do with it? We can love someone that is objectively bad for us, however, it doesn't mean we have to ACT on that feeling. It's just a feeling after all.

I still love my severely alcoholic exh. I always probably will. But he is my ex, and i will never take him back.

The moral of the story....going back to an ex is inviting Evil into your life. Best to keep the door shut on that.

I appreciate this post and comments today. I got divorced last year and this nagging voice in my mind keeps trying to get me to re-engage with my ex. I refuse. Yes I still care for him. Yes I believe he regrets the reasons why our marriage dissolved. Yes my life would be easier (In some respects) to give into his offers of support and co-habitation BUT it’s just never going to happen.

When I divorced him I drew a HARD line in the sand. I told myself that it doesn’t matter how I feel emotionally towards him, my decisions for divorcing him continue to stand and emotionalism aside, it was the best thing I could have done for myself.

All of the literature for FDS and you tubers that talk about these topics stress the importance of being in control of your emotions. It’s the only way that we don’t sleep with men just because they romance us, and get rid of LVM even though they might make us feel good in the moment. The key is emotional control and strength of Mind (knowing who you are and what you want and not waivering from that). So I argue with old me (that little nagging voice) and kill it. I never pick up the phone or write the note like it tells me. I’m in charge and we are moving forward, not backward.

I took only once an ex back. he was my first serious BF, I was 18 and he was 24. at that time he finished grad school and was in between jobs, then started working and he managed to get fired... that is when I left him

he contacted me again when I was 23 saying he was different. bunch of lies. he was still a neet but pretending to be an aspiring entrepreneur. be careful of entrepreneur bullshit

Needed to hear this today... just learned yesterday that my abusive narcissistic ex is getting an early release from prison and instead of getting out in June he'll be out in less than a month.

He has been locked up for the last 5 years for drug and robbery charges and has written me numerous letters that have gone unreplied. He even snuck a phone and messaged me on facebook and tried to call me on FB messenger. Also ignored. But for some reason he has been popping up in my dreams lately and in these dreams he is the perfect ideal version of himself that treats me right and does and says all the rights things that he never did irl. Sometimes we have sex in the dreams and it's amazing, which it never was irl. It's very disturbing when I wake up and remember the dream, it's like my subconscious is trying to sabotage me!

I wish I did this 4 years ago. 9 months in guy breaks up with me. 2 months later we got back together because I believed in second chances. 5 years down the drain because the reason he broke up with me in the first place was the reason we broke up the second time. Never again.
