I think this is a woman projecting female self-awareness and empathy onto predatory, low EQ men.

They don't regret missed connections and opportunities, they don't regret not feeling genuine love for another person. A man who doesn't view women as human, who is incapable of loving a person, and also incapable of loving himself-- will never have this revelation. They're just mad that they don't have the looks or money to have casual no strings attached relationships. They're just mad that they can't pull off having a stable bangmaid/therapist/mommy while also getting attention and sex from other women. They're mad that women aren't chasing them and throwing their drawers at them. They are brainwashed by Hollywood, porn and social media.

Men like this don't wake up one morning and think "I fucked up" nor do they realize that gradually. They might tell you that they regret a lost opportunity with you, but it's bullshit. They might have "The grass is greener" moments during times when they are depressed or lonely, but it's not genuine remorse.

It's really dangerous to project empathy and high emotional intelligence onto piece of shit men. They are not a complete person, they are incapable of self-respect and self-love, and incapable of respecting and loving another person. These are the types of men who don't even have love or regard for their kids-- biological extensions of themselves. So to imagine that a guy like this will suddenly wake up one day and have these revelations, is a huge stretch.

I don't think this person is necessarily saying that these men spontaneously become self-aware and regretful - I think they're saying that these men don't understand why they feel depressed and shitty when they live their whole emotional lives in a shitty way. Which is pretty true. It's similar to the way many men only value women for their youth and appearance, and then lament that they end up with a "crazy bitch" who cheats, lies, is a narcissist, or whatever. Choices have consequences.

I opened up about something emotional that was very difficult for me to share, after his insistence. I am quite private with my emotions (cultural) and it is very difficult for me to share these sorts of things. He convinced me to open up and I told him after how challenging that was for me. He then went on to say how it would be 10x HARDER for HIM, to share his deeper emotions. How it is even MORE difficult for him. WTF!!! I was so upset, needless to say. I don't like how women are always expected to be the emotional gender - it is hard for us too.
