I was walking to Walgreens a couple of days ago (I don't take the bus now but it was a nice walk). It was a beautiful sunny warm day. I was feeling really good. Wearing my mask, my sunglasses & a hat too.. This LvM just tried to chat with me (some derogatory stuff) I just keep it moving. I don't reply. It gives them my attention. It gives them my time. They don't need it. The guy looked like he was maybe 40, was balding & just all around vile 🤢 be careful Queens!

Also frustrating: women who tell you to take it as a compliment. I've been cat-called while traipsing from the car to the pharmacy in sweats after having the flu and not washing my hair for a week. It absolutely is not a compliment; it's the exact opposite, stop telling women to like it.

Yep! Happened to me at the bus stop a couple days ago. Mask, sunglasses, AND headphones on. A guy TWICE my age starts trying to talk to me, and when I ignored him, he decided to just turn to the fence and masturbate in public.

Told a male “friend” about it afterwards, and his first question was “what were you wearing”. That guy WANTED to retaliate for me not acknowledging him. Didn’t matter what I was wearing.

i used to think if i wore the 'right' clothing then catcalling would stop. its an absolute myth and im angry i ever believed it. catcalling is just men's way of telling women they are sex toys and that they dont belong in public without being sexualised. the only way to stop catcalling is to not be a woman lol. i have NEVER seen a man derogatorily catcall another man

Bruh, I was literally catcalled the other day at Wendy’s by a lvm who just got off his shift. I was wearing my hat and mask while I ordered my frosty and dude was like “Hey girl, what’s your name, do you speak English (I’m Asian), what’s your number etc etc” and that day was the first time I hung out with my friends since quarantine started :( I came to our meeting spot way too early and I was greeted by this.

I told him firmly that I wasn’t interested, but he started coming closer to me and eyed me up and down, which was absolutely disgusting. I backed up slowly and walked towards his manager who was patrolling around. Only then did he stop his advances and finally fucking left.

Why can’t I just eat my frosty in peace 😭Thankfully, my frosty didn’t melt and my friends arrived shortly afterwards

I'm struggling to find the right words about what happened to me.

Six years ago I was in high school (winter time) I was wearing a long-ass dress with warm tights. I was on my way to pick up my sister, I'm used to using a shortcut. Anyway In glad that day I wasn't wearing my big earphones. I was walking down the street there was two elderly women talking and a guy wearing a hoodie. I turned back a second time -don't know why- the street was empty.

That bastard was hiding behind a house, but I didn't know that. A few seconds later I feel someone dragging me by my throat, he was really strong, he was saying disgusting things to me, groping me, even talking by himself. I got so scared I started to shout NO FUCKING SOUND WERE COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH.

There was a ”lake” behind us I don't want to imagine what he could have done to me If I didn't manage to run like crazy. When I was far from him I thought that I just imagined what happened, that it was just in my head, it's ”funny” how our brains functions.

Anyway then I called my parents, told them what happened, I couldn't believe what was coming out of my mouth, I thought it didn't happen. Hours later we went to the police station they took my tights for DNA till this day I don't who that pig is. But apparently, I wasn't the first in my school being assaulted.

So because of that, I ain't trust people easily, especially men. If in walking outside in daylight our during nighttime I'm always watching behind me or slowing down to let men walk in front of me.

Last time I was in a lift at the airport an old man came in I was scared, I tried my best not to show it, because what if he would've got violent or something. Plus he looked like he was drunk and angry.

My parents hired a plumber months ago I was alone in the apartment with him I was visualizing hundreds of scenarios in case he would try to touch me, I was so anxious, but nothing happened...

So I don't know if I can say if I've been assaulted or sexually assaulted by that man.

I was 14 when I got cat called for the first time in my life. It was a hot ass summer and I was wearing shorts - some roadside workers I was passing thought it was appropriate to shout obscenities at a 14 year old. Ugh.

I've got to admit I do now wear the mask even if I don't have to so I can pass creepy men without having a vulnerable look on my face. I also want to believe they are scared to catcall someone not knowing how they look like.

I still got catcalled one time but that's it.

It has absolutely nothing to do with how we actually look and it's exactly about power and entitlement to our bodies and time. Women in Arabic countries get raped all the time and they're literally covered from head to toe. Men just have this innate darkness in them that needs to hurt and terrorize us for existing. The first time I was catcalled I was 13-I was skinny with a very childlike face, basically like a tall 11 year old. I was a kid in a winter coat and sweatpants.It stuck with me all these years because it is the first time I remember this happening.

The most recent time I was catcalled I was coming from a work meeting and was wearing slacks and a knee length trench coat. I am forty and married-my rings are very evident on my hands.

It is not a compliment. None of these factors matter because actually it is not about who we are-it is about an overwhelming sense of entitlement on the part of the one doing the catcalling.

I remember the first time I was catcalled. I was walking to a friend’s house from my high school through a REALLY dodgy area. Had multiple men honk, dude lean out of his house and yell at me, and I was wearing a baggy school shirt and carrying a BACKPACK. Very obviously a high school student.

I was actually being followed, I realized, and thank goodness about half way to her house was a gas station that I knew most of the workers at (stopped in for breakfast a lot). I ducked in and saw someone I knew, said “Someone’s following me” and then went in the bathroom and locked the door.

About 10 minutes I waited in there, scared. This man was following a high schooler, commenting on an ass that was covered with a backpack, asking if I needed a ride when he didn’t have a car.
