Thatβs me! Iβm not welcome at reunions because of my deviant life.

Single, rich, and travelling sounds SO much better to me than settling for some loser!

I go nuts for the mini series! I put that even on the background, loooooove Lizzie's queen energy LOL

Lol no wonder men always scoff at jane austen books and act like women are silly for liking them. What she wrote terrifies them.

Guys, I urge you to read quotes from Austen's letters. She's brilliant.
I struggled to find a good collection of them online - but here are a few.

I burst out laughing reading these. JA is just so effortlessly dry and witty.
How horrible it is to have so many people killed! And what a blessing that one cares for none of them!
This is so... applicable. I've never been a fan of the mentality that people are absolved of their sins just because they're dead. If you were a horrible person in life, passing away doesn't make you suddenly beloved.
I will not say that your mulberry trees are dead; but I am afraid they're not alive.
Why she calling me out like that? Not everyone has a green thumb. π΅

One of my favorite lyrics is from Death Cab for Cuties' "Styrofoam Cups"; "Just 'cause he's gone, it don't change the fact that he was a bastard in life thus a bastard in death." Same vibe, I think.

So my last (and final) ex bf had wooβd me because he told me one of his favorite films was Pride & Prejudice, we it was mine and I loved the book. He was completely and unequivocally a Wickham.

I realize some of y'all weren't even born in 1995 but please miss me with any version that doesn't have Colin Firth

I actually dont like Colin Firth.
I like the Darcy from the Keira Knightley version. He seems more authentic in his portrayal.

Enough Darcy to go around β€οΈ
[β]mercybenelliFDS Newbie17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Look, I love Colin Firth as much as the next gal, but no other Darcy can compare to the 2005 one.
[β]MrsValentineFDS Newbie10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Really? He came across like a simpering wet lettuce to me. Colin Firth had him down pat!
[β]mercybenelliFDS Newbie15 points16 points17 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I read Pride and Prejudice before I saw the movie, and McFaydenβs Darcy was closer to the book for me... which, honestly, was a bit of a simpering piece of wet lettuce. I think it was intentional on Austenβs part. Her books centered entirely on women, and the men were honestly just plot devices.
[β]MrsValentineFDS Newbie5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I never got that from the book! The whole thing I thought was that he was super proud/superior but he had more layers that Elizabeth's prejudice from his initial insult of her wouldn't allow her to see. It's weird what different people can take from things.
[β]mercybenelliFDS Newbie6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I got that out of it, too, at least at the start. But as the book went on, the layers were peeled back to reveal the aforementioned simpering piece of wet lettuce

βsimpering piece of wet lettuceβ I AM ROLLING YβALL

Exactly my view! I find it's unusual, though. I also prefer Keira Knightley as Elizabeth.

I know me too! I just love the 2005 version. It's one of my favourite movies. π
[β]CassieGreen85FDS Apprentice2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I loooooooooove Colin Firth's version! I watched the 2005 movie version first and loved it of course, but then I watched the mini series and was like "yep this is my jam"
It doesn't help I really like the mini series' Lizzie too she's got the queen vibe down pat, love herrrr
(I still rewatch the 2005 version tho)

And LVM be out there having the looks of Mr Collins and personality of Mr Wickham...
[β]curiousandconfused-5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Very much agree ! Being single is always better then being in a mediocre relationship or a relationship where you arenβt loved. Why sell yourself so short and drain the happiness from your life only to appease societal norms?

I love this quote and Iβve actually been thinking about it from time to time recently as I delve into FDS principles! Though I did want to note that Pride and Prejudice was actually published during the Regency era (a sub-era of the Georgian era), although Jane Austen began writing it prior to the Regency era.
