I don't think they are obsessed with sex, I think they're obsessed with power and control expressed through sexual access. This is why a married man will chase tail every day- when he "scores" it gives him a sense of power. That same man will kill his wife for sleeping with another man despite not having sex with her for years- its not about sexual jealousy, its about her taking his sense of power and control away from him. Its a lot like a guy who has a classic car in his garage- its about having something of value others can't access. Whether or not he ever actually drives the car is irrelevant. The point is possession and control, not enjoyment.

It’s the only kind of physical intimacy they’re allowed (by society/other men) to have, and female sexual partners are the only ones they’re allowed to have emotional intimacy with.

And wanting a lot of sex, as well as having a lot of sex partners, is how men are raised to believe you perform masculinity.

Testosterone does play a role but basically men and women have almost equal libidos.

It's the society that shames women from exploring their sexuality. There's this misogynistic attitude that prevents women from exploring too much.

Porn and masturbation do play a role in spiking testosterone levels and causing addiction.

Pure socialization. Would you believe that back in ancient times, women were thought to be the uncontrollable sexual gender? Men were cool and rational and not expected to be ruled by their libidos, unlike women who were thought to be animalistic in their desires. Sound familiar? Hell its not even that ancient a concept, Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales had bits of this in it.

We can blame it on our hormones but it’s really the culture. If it was really only testosterone then women would not have been the oversexed gender at any point. Personally I think all human beings are very sexual, if you remove all cultural influence, stigmas and stereotypes, males and females would probably be about equal, except possibly during the postpartum period for women.

It’s genetic. That’s how they’re wired. Whereas women are wired for our biological drive (motherhood). That’s why it important to understand the true nature of men while dating. They don’t have the same sort of nurturing, loving instincts we do. You need to level the playing field by not giving it all up emotionally.

To be honest, I think it's both a "good distraction" from real life and it serves as a temporary boost/ego stroke that makes real life seem less shitty for a little while. It's a shot of dopamine and pleasure to the brain.

I think social conditioning and testosterone both play a role in how strongly it's reinforced in the brain, for men. But women can also be highly sexual and have higher sex drives than some men, I've definitely dated men who had relatively low sex drives (and did not use porn or any other material during the relationship, they told me, of course men can be huge liars though).

i think it has a lot to do with socialization and culture. women are objectified and sexualized everywhere since forever so they subconsciously just sexualize women in general and it’s encouraged all the time by the way men talk about women and how hot they are because thats the only thing they’re there for (in their mind). they’re socialized way different than women (to put themselves first, men should be obsessed with sex and pick apart women like sex objects, hide and suppress all emotions with the exception of anger and lust ect.)

society encourages men to be shallow but demonizes and makes out women who do the same to be evil. i think men and women have about equal libidos but culture and socialization teaches men they should be sex obsessed and women should have self control. i think if men were sexualized the way women are right now the roles would reverse naturally.

For the survival of the human race... men are biologically inclined to want to pass on their genes/grow their tribe. More sex= more chances to do that. There is also far less risk for men than there is for women, e.g they can’t get pregnant. They can just keep doing it over and over again.
