To play devil's advocate...the vast majority of economists work under a very limited spectrum of assumptions. Short term gain is "the bottom line" to most of their work and thinking. Ecological time scales laugh at such strategy though, so, in a way, the experts have gotten really really good at fooling themselves about the nature of value. Solutions like Slats are great, and should be implemented. I dont think there is anything inherent in MGTOW that says that capitalist solutions are inherently better then, say, being willing to curb our over-the-top consumerism.

This post is not fair at all. Boyan Slat got a lot of media coverage years ago. He is 25 now, but when he was about 20 he was all over the news, especially in the Netherlands, since he’s Dutch, talking about his project “The Ocean Clean-up”.

Greta came into the news very recently. It’s very simple, the media covers things that are popular and at this moment Greta is very popular, Boyan is not.
