The following is a text exchange with my wife. I understand texting is rarely ideal for anything besides logistical communication, but I was in a deposition and couldn't call her.

I tell my wife to go grocery shopping and she says she needs a "meal plan." I respond that I'm working and she needs to prepare the meal plan.

Next text I get is that she's going to Whole Foods and that a sitter will get the kid from school. In order to get to Whole Foods she has to drive 60 miles round trip and pass 4-5 grocery stores on the way. Not to mention the additional sitter cost.

I tell her not to do that in the future. Response "Um why? WF has the best organic and gluten free options." I respond that (1) I'm taking control of the family's finances, (2) it's an unnecessary use of resources and (3) there's other closer organic options.

Her response: "yeah let's talk that one through before we make that decision." And I responded, "no discussion needed." She says "we'll see."

She's proven incapable of managing her money / spending throughout our relationship and me taking control is a long time coming. I plan to hold frame when the inevitable shit test comes, but I wanted some feedback on how I handled the above exchange.
