For the past several months, those of us men and women who are not raving bigots have been given the opportunity to witness the unapologetic hatred of the Feminist movement, and it's continued demonizing of men.

"Men Can Stop Rape."

There is no rational reason why this is a helpful statement, and there are many reasons this is a hateful and counterproductive statement.

NOT A HELPFUL STATEMENT

It is true that more rapists are men than women. (Though with envelopment not even being considered rape in official statistics, I wonder how big the disparity actually is.) However, the vast majority of men are not rapists. Rapists are violent criminals, and a person with a propensity to rape isn't going to go "Holy shit! You're right! I CAN stop rape! No raping for me today, I think I'm going to feed breadcrusts to ducks at the park instead."

"Men can stop rape" also implies that it is the responsibility of all men to keep other men from raping. Now if I saw or heard someone getting raped, I would contact the authorities as fast as I could. But it is not my job, or any man's job, to be on damsel patrol. If that is what you (as a woman or a feminist man) want, then you are calling for the return of Patriarchy. Not very Feministy of you!

A HATEFUL STATEMENT

First of all, it dismisses the experience of males and females who have been sexually victimized by women. Secondly, in no other social malady do we consider it acceptable to label an entire race, religion, or gender "the problem" who can "stop it."

Can you imagine the collective freakout if a political movement in the US made a declaration like the following hideous, bigoted statements: "Mexicans can stop entering the US illegally. Black people can stop smoking crack. Women can stop false rape accusations. Muslims can stop recruiting suicide bombers. Gay men can stop spreading AIDS."

Of course, we can point to people/groups who have said stuff like this and were vilified for it. Reactionary groups do say stuff like that about Muslims and Mexicans, and they are vilified for it. I'm old enough to remember when Axl Rose of Guns 'N Roses wore a horrendous t-shirt "Aids kills fags dead" and he was roundly vilified, and this was during a time when bigotry against gay people was considered more acceptable than it is today.

But because Feminism has normalized the fear and hatred of men, "Men Can Stop Rape" is supposedly perfectly justified, and an inspiring rallying cry for an "equality" movement.

EDIT: From an excellent comment below by EvilPundit: "If we accept the proposition that "men can stop rape" - then why is rape still happening? The logical answer is "Men can stop rape, but they don't. It must be because men don't want to stop rape." That is really, really insulting. And it is hate speech."

COUNTERPRODUCTIVE

The statement will not reduce rape in the least, and sends completely the wrong message. First of all, as said before, it denies the reality of female rapists and sex predators. This puts men, women, and children who tragically are in the company of a violent woman at risk.

Secondly, it is not the sole responsibility of men to prevent rape. We all, each one of us, have a responsibility in a civil society to promote non-violence, respect for each other, respect for sexual boundaries, and in encouraging people with a propensity to violence get therapy. By doing this, men and women can help each other facilitate a less violent society.

Suffice to say, Feminism does not want a less violent society. All they care about is vilifying men, turning women into perpetual infant-victims, and furthering their message of hate. And I think it's fucking shameful.
