This is something that has continually annoyed me with this subreddit. The thing that's truly damaging to these victims is having everyone shove a victim label down their throat. There are cases where a harsh sentence like what was handed down in this case is warranted, but there is zero nuance when it comes to white knights of any kind. It's just like the Brock Turner case where the MRA white knights came out to say "Sure, he was drunk too. Sure, they left the party together. Sure, she was conscious and participating until the witnesses showed up. Sure, they didn't actually have sex. But he's still a piece of shit rapist. Don't try to convince me with facts and reason, I've already made up my mind."

I'm not sure what part of that article supported your side of the argument.

This is the last paragraph and summary of the article, and it's absolutely correct. Ever since age of consent laws were introduced they have been wildly inconsistent. What's of note about the trend of age of consent is the push for anything above 13-14 was strictly a British/US led thing. Most of Europe kept the lower age of consent. Are people from those countries all fucked up from their childhood? How about just the ones that had older boyfriends/girlfriends when they were young, are they all fucked up?

This is only in some parts of Eastern Europe, but as an answer to your question, Yes, that is fucked up. 12-year-olds aren't even sexually mature (neither are 13-year-olds for that matter). There is no logical rationale whereby this behavior isn't horribly fucked up.

You have a very odd view of how puberty works. Some kids are early bloomers, these are the kids that would make use of the lower age of consent, like say a schoolboy having an older girlfriend. If instead of having an older girlfriend he had a girlfriend his own age and her 44-year old obese mother forced or coerced him into sex, that is clearly not a consensual relationship and the 44-year old mother should face consequences.

The pregnancy issue was not the crux of my argument. It was a supporting detail as to why 13-year-olds shouldn't be guided into a sexual context by adults looking to exploit their new feelings for their own gratification.

There is a world of difference between a high-school junior and a 7th grader. A lot of 16-year-olds have cars and jobs, adult responsibilities. It is only 2 years away from the age of majority. These different responsibilities and social expectations create separate sociological environments, the differences between them being substantial enough to create a more mature mental state in the older group.

Here's the problem. If the kid says "no I don't feel harmed by it", the courts and court psychiatrists, who are in the pocket of women/feminists/SJWS mind you, and thus want to make everything out to be rape, say that the kid can't possibly be telling the truth, has been brainwashed and "groomed".

Back to the story. So if someone his age says he doesn't feel like a victim and enjoyed it, they just claim he's a victim of manipulation. If he says he felt hurt and damaged and betrayed, then they say "aha! See!".

Basically the problem is that sex predatory language and beliefs are based on unfalsifiable claims. If people are saying they enjoyed it when young, they're a lying victim. If they say they didn't enjoy it, they're a truthful victim.

Thus you can't really trust the judgement of the older people involved in persecuting them, either in court or out of court and on forums, since they'll override the situation with their own bias.

If someone underage drugs and rapes someone of any age, underage or 40, they're going to prison for rape.

if this is rape, they should still be going to prison for rape when they have sex with someone under the age of consent, as it is someone's lack of consent which has been violated, which is considered to be rape.

That's... what? So lets say you graduate early, and you're 18, but you're still a high schooler even though you graduated early. Lets say you're held back a year and 19 and still in high school.

And if you get charged as an adult for a crime at 17, that means you're charged as if you committed a crime at 18+ because that is when adulthood is legally recognized.

You know the Bat-mitzvah, a 13 year old ceremony, establishes "manhood" in the Jewish tradition. Maybe times are different now, but that's a social construct, and social constructs are subject to change. If they are not permanent, then they are not absolute.

I'm not sure how being still in high school or not at 18 qualifies someone as being a child or underage or whatever you intend to mean, while being 21 qualifies as an adult. If you really believe this, you need to ask the law to stop charging 18-20 year olds as adults for crimes, like vehicular manslaughter under the influence of alcohol, etc.

you probably also need to ask the state to stop charging 13-14 year olds as adults for premeditated murder, since they're so far away from 21.

None of these reasons you gave are arguments based on facts, but based on social constructs.

I'm sure you made tremendously mature life decisions at 13, and had enough context and knowledge of the world to do extremely worldly things. I bet that you had a credit card so you could manage your debt. A mortgage so you could start the process of owning a home. You probably drove to your job, and took care of your kids at 13.

I bet you even had a bit of a smoking habit you were trying to kick just a few months prior when you were 12 but would occasionally stress out at all the responsibility you had thrust upon you at 13, break down, and smoke half a pack every month or so.

You probably hung out at all the cool bars around then, and had started to develop a taste for various microbreweries and their beers, but would call an uber if you drank too much to come pick you up and take you back home so you could wake up before your middle school bell rang.

13 has always been too young. Even in antiquity. Do you think you were going to find 13 year old heads-of-household at any time in history? Do you think a 13-year-old boy is capable of defending his family from attackers, let alone securing an income/providing for the family? Most 13 year olds can't even ejaculate yet. This is a moot point. 13-year-olds are still essentially children.

Boys at that age are a lot smarter than we give them credit for.

This isn't a question of intelligence. Kids as young as 8 are smart enough to understand the mechanics of sex. That's not the point. This is a question of emotional maturity and sexual abuse.

There is a reason it is called statutory rape, its because children are impressionable and most of those children grow up with psychological issues. Even if it is accepted by the family. You can read it in one of the articles...

Children don't have the emotional maturity to have extensive live in relationships like this and it can really fuck with them from a mental standpoint.

I'm not even from the US and I don't particularly like going there (sorry guys) but if you come from a country where its okay for a teacher to move in with a student and suck their dick and let them fuck you but also remain impartial enough to grade their tests and educate them then you wherever you are from is a fucking piece of shit place and I would never want to visit.
