Meh. The extra concentration of conservatives makes the MRA brand unpalatable to many, and the notable concentration of extreme rightists makes it simply untouchable to the majority and to practically all people with political power other than those already in the extreme right.

For example in the UK the sole supporter of MRAs in parliament is so far out on the right-wing branch that he is an active global warming denialist. He is a pariah, a powerless troll shunned by his professional colleagues.

I have never met anybody in the real world who even knows that there are lefty MRAs. They just figure we are a collection of obsessive refugees from failed relationships, butthurt romantic rejects, self-centred whiners, neckbeards, neanderthals and extreme tradcons trying to drag gender relations back to the 1950s.

"Even a small reduction in privilege tends to be experienced as oppression" is the phrase that comes to the minds of most people I meet if I mention the MRM.

That line about privilege is true and yes, MRAs do a lot of butthurt whining and manbaby tantrums. But there is much more to the movement than that.

You clearly have gaping wide holes in your understanding of leftists if you think all leftists are Marxists. I'm on the left and I despise most everything that the Soviets did, especially under Stalin. My liberal philosophy is what attracts me to men's rights. I believe everyone should be equal under the law with special privileges for none. The feminists are doing a piss poor job of living up to that ideal, using bigoted language like "mansplain," poor empathy like "male tears," and they almost never respect the unique struggles experienced by men. You're right that much of the left gives them a free pass. That's why leftist MRAs are important. Someone needs to confront feminists and show how they're being piss poor egalitarians and how they themselves are the sexists that they claim to be against.

Far left ideology destroys anything it touches.

Far right ideologies are also very dangerous although they tend to be a little more sustainable in the long run. Theological monarchies have lasted centuries and communism was done in less than a century.

We should disavow both extremist voices however the vast majority of loud shouting morons these days comes from the far left camp.

The left is not a monolithic group. Many of us will claim ties to the Enlightenment, the expansion of democracy, and the flourishing of human rights in the Western world. Yes, you are identifying some very extremist turns like the Russian Revolution. But, leftists also deserve credit for the creation and expansion of egalitarianism.

If you are a MRA, I would expect that you like the concept of egalitarianism. However misguided at times, the left pursues that goal, even if the methods are tragic and horrific.

Tradition and egalitarianism are not comfortable bed fellows.

I agree that the left has a lot of blood on its hands, but some of the most sincere and self-aware leftists have found a home in the MRM. I welcome them as red pillers.

You can hate my personal politics all you like - fill your boots. You're not the first and you won't be the last. The thing is, I simply don't care what you like or don't like. Nonetheless, two points:

1) In your little rant above, you make the basic and perfectly stupid mistake of tarring all "leftist" (whatever that means) MRAs with the same brush. It's as dull and as fatuous as me saying all right-wing MRAs are fascists. Subtlety. Distinctions. Shades. Get the picture?

2) The real acid test of someone who supports MR is what they do - not what their politics are, or their shoe size, or their gender, or what they wear to work. That includes you, and if you decided to refuse to support some principle or cause or action that would advance the MRM cause simply because the MRA who proposed it was a "leftist", well...

And yes, the same goes for me.

I have lived in a lot of countries and where there is universal healthcare, decent holidays and minimum wage and some transfer of wealth from corporations to the people are just better places to live - you are happier, stress free and there is a better sense of community. A lower Gini coefficient means a more liveable country.

The left is always striving for a better world and I find that attractive. Feminism used to be part of that ideal, but as we know, It turned rotten along the way when they decided men were the problem.

The right can shout all it likes but if you want to purge feminism and give more support to men, it's going to have to be the left that does it.

I'd like to thank the OP, I've been trying to encourage leftwing MRA to stand up more and be heard, to stop letting rightwing MRAs to dominate the discussion and hogging the microphone, and you pissed many of them off enough to speak up more. Hopefully that will continue.
