Welcome!
You've added to the number of leftists here, so that's something.
I prefer it when we talk issues rather than politics - it's easier to get along that way. But we do talk politics sometimes.
[–]qaezec 17 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Thank you!
True it is easier to talk about issues specifically
[–]goodmod 11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Just don't talk about circumcision if you don't like drama. :)
[–]qaezec 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I haven't recovered from being owned yet lol
[–]Lethn 14 points15 points16 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Unfortunately whether we like it or not some people will make issues political or alternatively issues become political depending on which factions side with what. As left wingers are discovering ( Finally lol ) their own leaders and parties are all taking incredibly ridiculous stances on various issues even ones that they've been proven wrong on by every objective measure.
[–]Minimal_minimal 30 points31 points32 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Heyhey! I'm a lefty and from Feminist Scandinavia. I find more open-minded and truly equally oriented people here than on men'slib.
I personally don't care what people here vote. We're united because we have a common goal. Let's be happy about that and be ok with not agreeing about everything in life.
[–]bearclaw5 26 points27 points28 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I think the reason most people here are not leftist is because the left has traditionally been the champions of feminism, which has become toxic. Personally, I am pretty left and get where you are coming from, leftism is about equality, not gynocentrism.
[–]qaezec 9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The irony is that the far left stands to benefit from a Men's Rights movement.
[–]genkernels 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Indeed. Which makes the NDP a real shame here in Canada. I'd probably be for those guys except, they've really drunk the feminist cool aid (neutral link, JtO discussing the same, that's the party leader there are other prominent representatives who are moreso).
[–]Daemonicus 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The NDP died when Jack Layton did.
[–]CHUNKIN_ON_THE_DUDS 20 points21 points22 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
My issue with men's lib is that they assume all of men's issues are socially imposed on them only by other men. As if feminists are blameless.
[–]antilopes 10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Reluctance to criticise feminism is necessary to stay positive and to stop them from merely replicating MensRights, but it cripples their analysis of social problems.
[–]CHUNKIN_ON_THE_DUDS 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I admire their commitment to solutions (something /r/mensrights could do more of instead of constantly bitching) but their reluctance to criticize feminism is paralyzing to finding actual solutions.
[–]Abbysol 19 points20 points21 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yay, more lefties :D You shall add to our ranks and we shall rise!
Not that it matters since most issues that get touched on here are fairly central and more human rights focused :)
[–]qaezec 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hell yeah
[–]DignifiedAlpaca 17 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The MensLib group reminds me of White People who talk about "hating being White"
That's exactly how I interpret them as well. They seem to have this collectivist way of thinking where they feel that all men and only men are to be blamed for the issues that women face. And then they also seem to feel that all men and only men are to be blamed for the issues that men face as well. It's both extremely creepy and unproductive.
As far as the left / right thing goes, I (and possibly many others on here) think like a left-wing person and traditionally voted that way, but nowadays I feel like the left has abandoned its principles. It's not that I am truly right-wing all of a sudden, it's just that I don't feel like there is anywhere else to go.
[–]TheSpaceDuck 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's not that I am truly right-wing all of a sudden, it's just that I don't feel like there is anywhere else to go.
I understand that so much. I come from a European country and moved to a different one. I discuss this with my girlfriend a lot. In both countries there's just no reasonable alternative that doesn't engage in some sort of extremist/authoritarian views, whether left or right. It's hard to find a party we would give our vote without feeling bad about it in a way or another.
[–]summonblood 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As far as the left / right thing goes, I (and possibly many others on here) think like a left-wing person and traditionally voted that way, but nowadays I feel like the left has abandoned its principles.
Exactly. Always have been left leaning, but they began to vilify white males and paint them as their enemy, so I guess I’m not part of the left anymore? I thought the left was about equality and advancing the rights of individuals beyond race & gender, but it seems to no longer be that. They seem to think they are, but their actions speak otherwise.
[–]tomothy37 11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Based on the comments here, it sounds like there are far more leftists here (myself included) than it might seem. I don't think men's rights is (or should be) a "left vs right" problem, I think it needs to be an "everyone" problem.
I don't think it's fair that toxic feminists identify as leftists, and then that's what being a lefty means. I consider myself strongly liberal, but here I am agreeing with almost everything I see on this sub. In fact, frankly, I didn't even realize that people tend to think this sub is a place for conservatives until I read your post and the comments here.
[–]duhhhh 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
IMO, the help people left is good (1950s-1980s left in the US). IMO, the demonize white men left is bad (2010s left in the US). In the last presidential election I was disgusted by both major party candidates and voted for 1980s style left candidate Stein in a state Trump couldn't win ... I was called a misogynist for voting for the "wrong woman" and had a few seemingly smart friends refuse to talk to me since. If Dems were to put forth a moderate inclusive left candidate in 2020 they will take the presidency by a landslide. Based on how much Dem leadership did not like pretty far left "help people" style Bernie who was very popular with left voters and how Dems have acted since Trump won, I expect Trump to be re-elected in an identity politics vs identity politics pissing contest.
[–]qaezec 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
As a part of the Libertarian Socialist Left I usually dismiss the Tumblrites as false Leftists or Liberals.
I have noticed that a fundamental lack of understanding and misappropriation of Identity Politics has materialized in the Far Left (in particular amongst AnComs and Anarcho-Syndicalists).
I really hate that the Dems keep trying to appeal to Neo-Liberals instead of Progressives, because they lose to Neo-Liberal Republicans and Neo-Liberalism has created a "glass ceiling" brand of social justice that I absolutely hate.
I'm sorry you got treated that way for voting the way you did. You made a better decision than I did.
[–]Maito_Guy 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
You cannot be a Libertarian Socialist, that is an oxymoron.
[–]qaezec 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
That's such a retarded and arrogant thing to say.
[–]Maito_Guy 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
No it's a fact, they are diametrically opposed political positions.
[–]duhhhh 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's not that much of a stretch. I voted Stein in the last election but also voted Ron Paul in a primary a few years back. Before the left went nuts I used to call myself socially liberal (pro union, pro gay marriage, pro EPA, pro universal healthcare, pro national parks, etc) but fiscally conservative (balance the budget, cut pork projects that bring little value to the people, have transparent discussions about government income and expenses and tradeoffs). Unfortunately neither "give people power and freedom" liberals nor "fiscally conservative" conservatives seem to exist in the US anymore.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_socialism
Libertarian Socialism is a school of thought older than American Libertarianism. And while I'm very certain you're not going to look at this, Libertarian Socialism is a very real thing and the idea that it is an "oxymoron" is Liberal Bullshit.
[–]Maito_Guy 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Not sure what to make of that, I don't like wikipedia as a source for anything even mildly political(gamergate is a hate movement according to WP) Either way Libertarianism means something different now and is diametrically opposed to socialism.
[–]qaezec 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Libertarianism is literally Anti-Authoritarianism... that's not diametrically opposed to Socialism
[–]Maito_Guy 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Libertarianism is literally a political ideology that is for the vast reduction in government size and power, free market capitalism with as little government regulation as possible and the privitisation of the vast majority of institutions. Recognition of property rights is a core tenet of libertarianism. Abolition of property rights is a core tenet of socialism, they are diametrically opposed political ideologies.
[–]qaezec 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Libertarianism as a Philosophy and Libertarianism as an Ideology are different and you're smart enough to know that.
[–]Maito_Guy1 point 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

[–]qaezec 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (35 children) | Copy Link
I mean Feminism isn't particularly Left-Wing. Marxist and Anarchist Feminism are the only Left Wing Feminist ideologies. Most Feminists are Liberals
[–]Maito_Guy 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (32 children) | Copy Link
The roots of feminism and the ideological underpinnings are soaked in marxism. Men oppressers-women oppressed.
[–]qaezec 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (31 children) | Copy Link
No... it's based in Liberalism.
Marxism is an economic analysis... I'm kinda sick of people's general ignorance on Marxism.
[–]Hadashi_blacksky 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think what he is talking about is the fringe theory going round that early university Feminists copied a handful of Marxist talking points (not Marxism itself) and basically started portraying women as the proletariat and men as the bourgeoisie. It's possible that their talk of men as an 'opressor class' came from that, but it's hard to say. It would explain why people who follow one often follow both - but I'm somewhat on and off the fence about it.
[–]KDulius 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's not really based on Liberalism. Even at its outset, it took Marx's ideas about power dynamics between the rich and poor and applied them to men and women.
Stuff like universal suffrage, whilst Liberal, was proberly hindered by the bomb throwing and axe weilding antics of the Suffragettes and wasn't even advocated for by them (if you look they only wanted the vote for rich white women)
[–]qaezec 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Um... so Feminism's Oppressor/Oppressed dynamic doesn't come from Marxism.
Marxism and Feminism just so happen to Modernist Philosophies (along with Liberalism, Empiricism, Pragmatism, and many more). Hell Jordan Peterson is a Modernist himself which is one thing he has in common with Karl Marx.
[–]Maito_Guy 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
He says while displaying ignorance about Marxism. Is the bourgousie oppresser-proletariat oppressed narrative an economic or cultural one? does it perchance remind you of any other narrative?
[–]qaezec 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Ignoring that Feminism and Marxism are both Modernist Philosophies.
Marxist Analysis is more complex than that. It's a very economic philosophy. Also I'm curious... what is it that irks you so much about the Analysis of the power imbalance between the Bourgeoisie and the Working-Class?
When Neo-Liberalism is driving Men to suicide, creating mass incarceration, and disproportionately harming Men economically... I kinda find it surprising y'alls aversion to Socialism. Y'all are the perfect group for it.
[–]Maito_Guy 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I didn't say they where exactly the same, I said feminist ideology is drenched in marxism because it is. Mainstream feminist dogma also has an economic aspect: The pay gap and equality of outcome for instance.
To answer your other two questions because it is eutopian nonsense that has resultes in poverty, starvation and politicide wherever it has been tried(how are males in venezuela doing?) And no, neo-liberalism has been responsible for creating the best societies to live in ever created and the reduction of global poverty, starvation and violence at a rate unseen in human history. Of course I have a problem with demonising people based on wealth, the wealthiest people in society tend to be the most productive, one of the many reasons socialism doesn't work. Not to mention one super rich guy(Bill Gates) has done more for global poverty than all of the worlds governments combined.
The higher male suicide rate is related to family court rulings, the demonisation of men and masculinity, the education system failing men and government redirecting resources for mental health and social services almost exclusively to women. The problem is gynocentrism and feminism, particulairly the marxist streak underpinning the ideology, not "neo-liberalism"
[–]qaezec 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Oh Lord have mercy...
Aight so no... Feminism isn't drenched in Marxism. There are Marxist-Feminists, but Feminism isn't influenced by Marxism.
how are males in venezuela doing?
A country where 80% of the workforce is in the private sector... isn't Socialist. There'd be no private sector.
Advocating for a better world is not Utopian.
poverty, starvation and politicide wherever it has been tried
Hey we gave y'all the option to choose Libertarian Socialism, but nah y'all (the Capitalists) let Marxism-Leninism happen. The US has a track record of overthrowing democratically elected Socialist Leaders and replacing them with Right-Wing Dictators. It's hard to try something when the US won't tolerate it lol.
Neo-Liberalism is an evil ideology. Even Capitalists fucking hate it.
reduction of global poverty, starvation and violence at a rate unseen in human history
That's the result of Social Democracy, and advancements in Labor Rights (you can thank Socialists and Syndicalists for that). Neo-Liberalism has caused greater wealth inequality. Is on track to weaken the American Economy AGAIN. Neo-Liberalism is also going to be bad for our environment, because it values Corporations over what's right.
We don't demonize people for having money. Just, cuz you're rich doesn't mean you're exploiting the working class, BUT we do hate corporations, because they exploit the working-class.
Not to mention one super rich guy(Bill Gates) has done more for global poverty than all of the worlds governments combined.
I'm a need some receipts on that lmao.
The higher male suicide rate is related to family court rulings, the demonisation of men and masculinity, the education system failing men and government redirecting resources for mental health and social services almost exclusively to women.
This is mostly true. Men are more vulnerable to stress induced depression and biggest sources of stress for Men are job and economic issues.
Neo-Liberalism is so bad for us that people ranging from Right-Libertarians to Communists agree that it's shitty and harms working people, the environment, and society as a whole.
[–]Maito_Guy 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Yes feminist ideology is drenched in marxism and I have clearly layed out how. You have no answer and are just asserting it isn't because you are a marxist and admitting it would cause cognitive dissonance.
I guess that depends on how you define "neo-liberalism" I am not aware of how it is defined in the more modern sense.
Venezuala is not fully socialist yet but look how just starting the process off and instituting some socialist policies have fucked the entire country.
Wealth inequality is not an inherently bad thing. The assumption that it is is part of the problem and gets to the root of the problem with marxism, it is not about helping the poor it is about hating the rich. Instead of looking at how the standard of living has risen astronomically for the lower echelons of society it looks over the fence at the people at the tip and says waaaaaaaah they have more than I do it's not fair. It is fair, they produced value to society and earned it through entirely voluntary transactions. The very wealthy are almost exclusively massive philanthropists(Bill Gates being the prime example, Google it if you don't believe me) there is only so much money you can gave before you will tend towards philanthropy.
There is nothing inherently wrong with corporations, the problem is that they are allowed to buy political influence. And not having a job is one factor in the male suicide rate but not the primary one and the education system has a lot to answer for among the causal factors for this issue. Lack of empathy for men is the biggest problem as it is the over arching problem that feeds the majority of the ones I raised.
And no the reduction in poverty and raising of the standard of living has way more to do with free trade between individuals and nations. Democracy is a big factor in the reduction of violence but free trade had an even larger effect. The invention of the printing press and then subsequent other forms of technology enabling more comprehensive and widespread information sharing is the overiding cause and are the results of free trade.
[–]qaezec 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I looked at your post history to see what type of person I am dealing with and your post on Western Colonialism in r/unpopularopinion tells me a lot about how you see politics.
I bring this up, because I'm unsure if I should continue to engage with someone like yourself who has an utter slave mentality.
Also Feminism isn't drenched in Marxism. Feminism pre dates it by decades. Feminism has historically neglected to take class issues seriously until the 1970s. The "Oppressor/Oppressed" overarching narrative doesn't originate from Marxism... it's really stupid to think that it does. The "Oppressor/Oppressed" overarching narrative in Feminism originates in the 1960s with the creation of Patriarchy Theory by Liberal RadFems. Your association of Feminism with Marxism is little more than you vomiting up talking points from low IQ Conservative Pundits.
How Neo-Liberalism is defined is not interpretive... It's very much shameless corporatism masquerading as Free Market Capitalism.
Venezuela nationalized it's oil and natural gas. When gas prices dropped, the economy collapsed. Nationalizing industry and/or publicly owned companies aren't always indicative of Socialism.
>Wealth inequality is not an inherently bad thing.
The increasing wealth gap is going to fuck up the economy. Wealth Inequality is a bad thing that we can't get rid of, but we CAN close the gap significantly.
>it is not about helping the poor it is about hating the rich
Once again you're just vomiting up dumb talking points from Charlie Kirk level Conservatives.
>Instead of looking at how the standard of living has risen astronomically for the lower echelons of society it looks over the fence at the people at the tip and says waaaaaaaah they have more than I do it's not fair
That's a strawman. Acknowledging that we don't live in a meritocracy (we don't) isn't screaming "waaaaaaaah". Acknowledging that society can fix major economic issues to help the working-class isn't screaming "waaaaaaaah".
Call me cynical, but Bill Gates only became a philanthropist to fix his image and is a bad example. The problem with the Capitalist Class isn't that they're rich. The issue is that they're exploiting the working class... of course people like yourself would never believe that.
>There is nothing inherently wrong with corporations
LMAO... I'm not even gonna dignify that
>not having a job is one factor in the male suicide rate
I never said that unemployment was the principle cause. I said "biggest sources of stress for Men are job and economic issues". Reducing that line to simple unemployment is fallacious.
Anywho I'm done talking to you
[–]Maito_Guy2 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
You had to stalk my profile and the best you can come up with is me making historically accurate statements about history? not surprised, you have to have a warped view on history to be a socialist.
Marxism does not predate ideological feminism, feminist IDEOLOGY is drenched in marxism, you are still obfuscating my point. You seen to aknowledge patriarchy is marxist in nature IT IS A CORE TENET OF FEMINISM. Of course feminists where concerned with class, the classes through a feminist lens are women and men not rich and poor, men collectively as a class oppress women collectively as a class. READ THE DECLARATION OF SENTIMENTS!!
Neo liberalism is not new. I am not aware of how it is defined now but I was referring to 19th century ideas of free trade. Criticising corporatism is something we can both agree on.
Nationalising industry is the definition of socialism. When socialism fails even socialism isn't socialism. THE COUNTRY IS PREVENTING CORONERS FROM RECORDING STARVATION AS A CAUSE OF DEATH. You are espousing the most murderous ideology in history.
There are studies showing socialists/communists hate the rich and you are ignoring the vast reduction in global poverty, steady rise in the standard of living for the working class in the west and complaining about wealth inequality(euphimism for the rich). You are advocating for a system that creates mass poverty and starvation to eradicate wealth inequality when we have fat poor people in the west but sure you don't hate the rich and not care about the poor.
It was not a strawman it is literally what you are doing, asserting that wealth inequality will collapse the economy(unsupported nonsense) and trying to claim your noble intentions does not change that. We will never have a perfect meritocracy, people are born with different abilities, some parents earn a better standard of living than others for their children and some children have better family situations. The financial status of the parents is the least significant factor. Western societies allow for the most social mobility of any time in history and are the most meritocratic. This is eutopian nonsense.
Shocking that you have to put a negative spin on Bill Gates doing more to reduce global poverty than all states combined(but you don't hate the rich and care about the poor right?) Yes of course I do not believe entering into a voluntary, reciprocally beneficial arrangement is not exploitation. The problem is corporatism which is caused by CORRUPT GOVERNMENT PERVERTING INCENTIVES not capitalism or corporations. Getting money out of politics is the answer not giving the corrupt entity MORE POWER.
Yes fair enough I misspoke there but the point stands factoring that in.
We have the best standard of living globally and in developed countries in the world EVER, even with rampant corporatism and your solution is to tear it down and institute a system that is responsible for mass starvation, terrible living standards and to use a phrase coined by Rummel "dekamegamurders". Every country that abolished communism/socialism vastly improved, try telling anyone that has experienced either they are good. How about not being a historically ignorant ideologue and advocating to get money out of politics instead of destroying a system that has done as much if not more good for human wellbeing(massively reducing violence, poverty and wellbeing) than anything else. Capitalism is not a ZERO SUM GAME, it is a POSITIVE SUM GAME.

Is that how 3 professors were able to get published to major feminist journals by rewriting Mein kampf using current intersectional feminist language?
Intersectional feminism is textbook Marxism. It isn't called cultural Marxism for nothing.
[–]qaezec 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link
1) What are you talking about?
2) Intersectionality is a useful form of analysis, but not liking it doesn't make it Marxism
3) Cultural Marxism is literally a Conspiracy Theory created by the Nazis and now dumb Right-Wingers keep repeating that term not realizing what it is.
[–]tmone 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, its a pretty damning thing what they did. Essentially showing everyone what they already knew:
That 'Academics' cannot distinguish radical feminism from Nazism.
Called the Grievance Scandal, some professors wrote a section from "Mein Kampf" using feminist terminology, & academic journals published it.
https://quillette.com/2018/10/01/the-grievance-studies-scandal-five-academics-respond/
Their stated mission has been to expose how easy it is to get “absurdities and morally fashionable political ideas published as legitimate academic research.”
You can't deny how the two ideologies so perfectly fit now. Really. Anyway, i know i wouldnt want to be associated with hitler. Projection is pretty prevalent inside inter sectionalism anyway.
Intersectionality is a useful form of analysis,
The only time partake in any analysis of it is when i sit back and enjoy all of the victim groups eating each other alive.
First, an obligatory, "Everything i dont like is a nazi!"
Ok. now that thats out of the way, you seem to think i am referring to the Frankfurt School and some actual concrete operation with nefarious agendas.
uh no. and most people who use the term understand this.
Its simple really. In simplest terms, the most noticeable characteristic would be that it treats people as classes. Instead of classes being socioeconomic, like with the USSR, they're racial. Kind of like the Nazis.
Regular Marxism said that economic class was the only thing dividing people. If everyone had equal wealth, everyone would be happy, and eventually class and money would fade into utopia. Cultural marxism says that Marxism failed because western religion preserved human greed and unnatural social divisions that prevented the extreme societal cooperation needed for it to work, so in order to get to marxism, religion and social distinctions such as men/Women have to be undermined and eliminated first. This is where 200 genders, hardcore atheism, feminism, race based egalitarianism, etc, come into play.

says the man child insulting another because he holds a different world view. You literally came into this conversation swinging. "how absolutely dare you sir!"
face it, you really have nothing to rebut because you are unable to formulate your opinions without the consultation from others. you instead resort to attacks and cry-bully tactics. you, along with your NPC brethren are well versed in shaming tactics in order to silence your opposition.
This is why you lot are so lovingly referred to as NPC's. You havnt an original thought inside your heads, only intuition and feelings.
Nothing I said is outside the mainstream. Can you at least TRY to point something out?
Is that there's certain topics that I can't talk about, because of the pronounced Right-Wing presence in this Sub
be honest young one, you are just terrible at defending your own sense of moral superiority. You can't play well with others it seems. sounds like a bigot to me. shocker
Oh Lord here's another Right-Winger lecturing me about "civility uwu"
attacks and cry-bully tactics
Imagine being this triggered over having your views called "backwards"
You havnt an original thought inside your heads, only intuition and feelings.
And that folks is what we call a projection. I'd like to see you try and debate an AnCom or a Marxist-Leninist or a Maoist or DeLeonist or a Syndicalist. Do you even know what those ideologies are? Probably not, but you're free to lie to me and claim you do.
You've been in your echo chamber too long. I can, but why waste my time? You don't want your mind changed and that's why you commented on this post the way you did.
Bigoted? I'll own it if YOU own it. I doubt you will.
If you put as much effort into articulating well thought out counters as you do childishly insulting people for their views, you might not be half bad.
But alls you got is snark. I'm glad this sub is finally seeing how you lefties are really just a nuisance and bad for men's rights in general. Bigotted indeed. You are obviously intolerant of the right. Lol. This place doesn't need the extra vitriol and negativet
Edit.
To clarify how petty you are. Please tell me why you felt the need to insult me right off the bat despite my respectful and civil comment.
[–]qaezec2 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
To be fair it's easy to be intolerant of a side with a higher death count than Marxism-Leninism, but I digress.
You and a few others who commented made a fatal mistake that determined whether or not I want to be respectful. That mistake being your association of Feminism and Marxism as a means to delegitimize me. If you genuinely gave a FUCK about actual debate and argument, you wouldn't have done that, but you did. You chose the SJW tactic instead and I'm thoroughly amused by it
The greatest irony about this sub is that because of the strong Right-Wing presence... a lot of Men whose issues are Race specific or Sexuality/Trans related won't feel welcome here. And that's a shame, because you guys obviously care more about Men and Boys than MensLib.
Oh cool. So i attacked your argument instead of you. You come back and attack my character and throw ad homs.
Thanks for sharing with everyone how absolutely terrible you are with engaging arguments instead of the individual.
Though to be fair, you probably get told to shut the fuck up all day long. It would drive me to fallaciously attack randos on the internet too.
I guess strawmanning and lying about my ideology and philosophy is technically "attacking my argument" LMAO.
Of course I'm going to attack your character. Your politics, rhetorical style, word choice, arguments, etc says a lot about your character. To be fair though, you've probably never dug deep into Leftist philosophies and ideologies and that's why you're so aggressively ignorant and I wasn't going to dignify a bad faith actor... which you are.
Is that how 3 professors were able to get published to major feminist journals by rewriting Mein kampf using current intersectional feminist language? Intersectional feminism is textbook Marxism. It isn't called cultural Marxism for nothing.
That was the first thing I said to you.
hardly "lying about my ideology" or even strawmanning. Its called an opinion. you should learn to be more tolerant of someone elses.
Of course I'm going to attack your character. Your politics, rhetorical style, word choice, arguments, etc says a lot about your character
I guess avoiding insults and snark is something in need of attacking. I stated a counter opinion so you returned with bullshit attacks.
you are one volatile and toxic little dude. all you little basement, anti capitalism bronies have some serious pent up rage and emotional baggage. yup, now im attacking your character.
later, Carl.
You're not stating an opinion in that quote. You're stating what you think is fact or want me and others to believe that it's fact. You asked a loaded a loaded question.
That is not stating your opinion.
Why am I obligated to tolerate a false opinion. You can't say "the Earth is Flat" and then be like "well that's just my opinion". You're laughably wrong, but you're so committed to your false narrative that you don't even want your mind changed otherwise you would've sent a very different comment.
What the fuck are you talking about. I just brought up the Mein kampf thing and said intersetionality is basically modern day Marxism.
You don't get it do you?
Goodnight......
That's what I thought. Have a blessed evening and may the workers of the world unite.
"that's what I thought" lmao

When mainstream media feminists recommended and quoted often feminist readings in Andrea Dworkin,Robin Morgan,Gloria Steinem,Susan Brownmiller,Gerda Lerner,Joyce Trebilcot,Catherine MacKinnon,Simone de Beauvoir, are giving public support for man hating.
This are the only voices heard on public spaces. Moreover these extremists are giving consultancy in advisory panels for legislative body on policies regarding education, women problems, family and even men's and boy's problems. They make the legislation from behind the curtain.
Also I did not see any public denouncement of radfem from "liberal" feminists. I have never heard any public statement said these people are nor representing feminist movement.
[–]qaezec 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
RadFems are also Liberals. They're usually very Anti-Left (and will call us shit like Brocialists).
[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
They have a post up now about good male role models and, surprise surprise, every single one of them grew up without any good men in their lives and developed a fear and mistrust for men as a result.
[–]qaezec 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
That's real sad. Idk how they cope with that.
[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
By hating men and flocking to toxic ideologies that justify their hatred of women/exultation of women.
[–]qaezec 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Shit I'd just kill myself. Like I already deal with image issues and a community like that would absolutely kill me.
[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
A lot of them are suicidal or at least very depressed. I would like to get them away from it but the very nature of their community means they can't listen to people like us or find positive male influences in their lives. So they will continue thinking they're defective women who ought to be ashamed of how they were born.
Sad. But at some point you have to say they've chosen this life.
[–]qaezec 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Feel you man. I also didn't understand at first why the people here disliked them and even thought that it might be a better sub for me, because I find this sub from time to time too negative and too right-winged. But then I noticed how heavily moderated Mens Lib is, for views which I found totally legit.
And also their views on acceptable gender roles for men seem extremely narrow to me: the whole sub seems to only consist of liberal educated middle-class men and women living in monogamy or serial monogamy or at least striving for it, maybe married and with kids. Other lifestyles like lifelong bachelor, or hedonist with many One-Night-Stands seem to be very disdained there. Men's liberation not at all. Meanwhile you obviously shouldn't criticise women for views like "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle" or their promiscuity.
Also don't you dare to criticise feminism.
Now I also prefer MensRights a lot even if I disagree with many things and get downvoted into oblivion from time to time. XD
[–]ThePigmanAgain 9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Y'all aren't perfect (It'd be nice to see more Leftists and Far-Leftists)
Another Leftist and i were recently discussing that problem. Fact is, we have too many right wing idiots in this place and we need more left wing idiots in order to balance things out. Heh.
[–]omegaphallic 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Fellow lefty hear!
I nicked named menslib the Christian Rock of the MRM.
Still at this point I just pity them, but I don't take them too seriously. They are violent and as sock puppets feminists they have almost zero real clout in feminism.
[–]tmone 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I mean, Christian rock, that is Christian metalcore is a pretty big adn even mainstream movement right now. Biggest bands in buzz are openly and proudly Christian.
[–]omegaphallic 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My nick name for men's lib is tongue in cheek.
[–]Terraneaux 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Lefty here. Of the "I think gay doctors should be able to get married and defend their abortion clinics from saboteurs with AR-15's" type.
In my undergrad, I had an instructor for comparative mythology who spent a lot of time chatting up the women about how oppressed they were, and talking shit about men in general. Most hardcore social justice-oriented instructor I had (before that was even too big a thing). Proud feminist etc. It turns out, however, that he was an instructor at a private girls' Catholic high school prior to this, and he had groomed one of his students, had sex with her, and then had her move in with him after she graduated. When this came out recently he got MeTooed, dunno too much about things after that.
Anyway, the people who shit on men as a class are usually like that; they're terrible people who are looking for justifications as to why they're not any worse than anything else, for houdining themselves out of culpability for rape or abuse or whatever by saying that it was the patriarchy programming them to do it, and all other men are the same way. Honestly a lot of the true believers over in menslib are a lot like that; there's also some sociopaths who see Feminism as a hatchet to use against other men they're in competition with.
[–]Maito_Guy 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
There is a pretty even left/right split in the mens movement. I would imagine a slight to moderate majority of American MRA's voted for Trump though.
[–]tmone 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hell Yeah
Pretty much the dems running platform atm.
Personally, I have always countered hate with hate as well. I mean, how are you going to show everyone that orange man bad?
[–]TheSpaceDuck 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My views are also more left than right yet I have the same feeling as you. I remember once in a post mentioning in the comments the CDC statistics showing the amount of men raped each year and the percentage that reported a female attacker. It got removed. Any place of discussion that censors any evidence or statistics of issues men face cannot consider itself a men's rights group. And there's no way I'd ever agree with that just because my views are more left than right.
[–]IThrewAwayMyPassword 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Welcome fellow lefty. Like others have said most of the issues people bring up are centrist/humanist, but I have seen this be a place to have civil political discussion.
but I have seen this be a place to have civil political discussion.

[–]medi3val64 points 7 years ago* [recovered] (9 children) | Copy Link
I'm curious how you mesh liberalism with men's rights when one is actively undermining the other?
Well, I'm not a Liberal. I'm a Libertarian Socialist.
Thing is Egalitarianism is a key tenet of Social Liberalism and Left-Libertarianism.
Neo-Liberals and Proggressive Feminists don't follow Egalitarian principles like they claim.
Also, Authoritarian-Leftist Ideologies like Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, and Juche are often either Anti-IdPOL or apathetic to it.
Left-Anarchist ideologies.... are a mess, cuz they constantly have a stick up their asses... I was one of them.
Libertarian Socialist ideologies like DemSocs, DeLeonists, and Syndicalists often will use IdPol to unite the working class against the ruling class.
[–]KDulius 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well as a Liberal, because both the left and right have a shocking lack of understanding what Liberalism is.
It's not the Regressive collectivism the left claims it is (and they only claim to be Liberal because its the only left wing ideology with any credibility left) and its not socialism like the Right thinks it is
[–]maxcorrice 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Sorry but since when is progressing to men having equal rights actively undermined/undermining being a politically progressive person?
[–]medi3val61 points 7 years ago* [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link
Its the other way around. Here in the US, feminism, #metoo, excessive child support, 100% mother decided abortion, etc. Are pretty much all driven by the left/liberal/democratic party. That is not to say some of the MRA issues are not due to the historical conservative tradition of single male earner families, but all the ridiculous radical stuff recently like #metoo is driven and weaponized by the left. So.. I was curious about how the idealogy I know as "liberalism" could mesh with MRA.
[–]maxcorrice -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
So what you’re pretty much doing is turning a vague label into a target, those are conservative beliefs, people aren’t just one or the other

I thought I was left. Every day that goes by, another reason emerges to why Trump won and will win again. If things continue, I may even consider voting for him. I really hate most mainstream politicians but would actually vote for him to spite the way our culture treats people like me.
[–]qaezec 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I mean you do you, but I strongly recommend against it. Even if you don't believe the Russia stuff, or him being racist, or him being misogynistic, or whatever... He is exceptionally dishonest. He's a Neo-Liberal just like Clinton. He has Authoritarian tendencies. I could go on. I understand why he won the first time, but I'd think it'd be unacceptable for him to win again.
The Democrats need to stop being afraid of the Left especially the Populist Left, because if they choose a Neo-Liberal like Clinton again, then they'll lose and I don't think I can handle four more years of President Trump
[–]jason1009 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Don't get me wrong. I don't like him at all. I would only vote him in to watch people's heads explode. I agree with you. He is dishonest. He's a Neo-Liberal. None of what you said do I disagree with. It's just on a personal level at this point. I've stood by gays, women, minorities for years only to be told all the fucking time that i have no say anymore simply because my skin pigment or what is between my legs. Im sick of labels slapped on me the moment I not 100000% agree with someone. The madness has to stop or more and more President Trumps will emerge worldwide.
I don't wanna sound rude, cuz I understand what you've gone through, but... voting for Trump "to watch people's heads explode" is kinda petty and while I'm well versed in the ancient art of passive aggression, I can't justify that.
On the other hand... the anger of marginalized groups is getting stronger, which results in unnecessary antagonism towards those perceived to be privileged. Neo-Liberals love this, because they can use this to split the working class. "Progressive" Neo-Liberals utilize the plight of Racial Minorities, Queer People, and Women to distract from class issues (this is not to say that the issues of those respective groups are illegitimate, but it's certainly not intersectional). Reactionary Neo-Liberals do the same to Men, Racial Majorities, and Religious groups to retaliate against the progressives. Reactionaries often times pay lip service to Men's issues in order to manipulate vulnerable Men into supporting politics that screw them.

i think ill say no to ANY socialists because i like my freedom. besides, socialism never lasts anyway because it conflicts with the laws of nature. capitalism on the other hand as well as freedom work within the laws of nature. i will simply outlast all the socialists and communists because they are perfectly able to destroy themselves due to their pipe dreams and lack of education on basic math and economics.
Judging by the increasing wealth gap, it's safe to assume you won't truly be free unless you're rich in a Capitalist country and if you're okay with that, there are millions of working-class people you will have to contend to in the future.
Socialism is not at conflict with the laws of nature. Humans are inherently cooperative.
Socialists would only destroy themselves due to the high level of diversity in thought and lack of a united front.
Dude, Marxism is advanced economics. Liberalism is basic economics. You can't understand Marxism without understanding Capitalism. I challenge you to read Das Kapital, I doubt you will, but you should.
[–]saikon_1485 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
i challenge you to take your socialism and gtfo. socialism infringes on peoples right to personal property. socialism also depends upon a slave class of workers who dont get to earn what their work is actually worth. in socialism the street sweeper is paid as much as the doctor. this is wrong. plus humans have NEVER been inherently cooperative. you need only study history and human biology to understand why this is. this isnt even starting to consider that socialism has been tried in multiple country and has always resulted in disaster. (zimbabwe, russia, venezuela) so just go there and enjoy all the communism.
infringes on personal property
No it doesn't. There's a difference between the private ownership of the means of production and personal property.
Socialism depends on a slave class of workers
The workers would own the means of production you dumbass.
humans have never been inherently cooperative
That's just plainly false.
Zimbabwe... Venezuela
Neither of those countries are Socialist and for a person who allegedly owns a copy of Das Kapital, you should know better than this.
and i already have a copy of Das Kapital. you should go read 1984 by george orwell, and the gulag archipillego.

You hit the nail on the head in your description of MensLib.
I used to consider myself on the "left" as well. But it has gotten increasingly difficult to have an actual, rational conversation with these people.
Everything is "racist", "misogynist", or "bigoted".
Brett Kavanaugh. Don't even get me started.
The left has lost its way. And I think a great number of people are realizing this. Hence the "rise of the right".
I personally feel that until you realize the disingenuous and dangerous authoritarian nature of this current manifestation of the "left", you will be fighting for the wrong side.

Can I just say that there is tons of political diversity on this sub as you may not expect. The main stream like to depict us all as Conservatives, and while there are Conservatives among us, we accept our differences however we unite under the fact we agree on one issue.
There are Cons, Libs, and the whole range on this sub. I'm personally a Centrist so I don't affiliate really with either/or. So welcome, and have fun browsing the sub!
