Here on Brexit Island there are currently three national ad campaigns running;

Nurofen (a painkiller) 'See My Pain' campaign which states that women's pain is often downplayed or ignored and that men should do better to empathise with women in pain. How often have you as a man been told to just ignore your pain, or man up, or get over it? Probably a lot more than any of the women you know.

Maltesers (confectionary) 'Let's Give Single Mums a Lift' campaign which apparently thinks that not enough is being done to help single mums, despite the fact that here on Brexit Island they have access to a whole raft of state benefits that aren't available to anyone else. Also, no single dads? No other tired out or run down parents/guardians?

Cancer Research UK running its seemingly eternal women's cancer awareness campaign despite the fact that at least here in the UK not only are women far less likely to get cancer, they're also offered more screenings, have much higher rates of earlier detection, and have higher recovery and remission rates.

Maybe there’s a financial incentive, from either the government or from organisations like the UN, to focus on one demographic over another

It’s part of their new campaign. They might have numerous ones over the span of a year

They received more donations when their campaign’s solely focused on women or children. There’s a potential hierarchy that focuses on the most needy or most vulnerable. And for whatever reasons, when men are either included or solely focused on, there’s either pushback or there’s an apathetical response.

(The logo for #herheartmatters resembling a pair of breasts is "biological essentialism" and "objectification", along with the "gendered" language and "possessive language" in the my x. Where is the "birthing unit from whence I came"?

Of course, this would necessitate certain people living by their own standards, so that's never going to happen...)

Empower. There's a hell of a lot of ideology packed into that word... Make no mistake, this poster (and ad campaign) is ideologically driven and does not come from a desire to help women.

Part of it was long term men were known to have heart issues but women weren't. Especially because women's heart attacks can look very different and subtle.

I worked for bc heart and stroke foundation, so I kinds understand the background for this push. Women for years were not actually studied in regards to a wide range of health issues, including heart disease and heart attacks. Men were the primary study group, mostly because it was believed time of the month needed to be accounted for and every woman has a different cycle, cycle length, irregular or normal etc. So they stuck with men who don't have that. Now the downside to only studying men for these previously, was women and men have different symptoms in mostly everything. Some things are universal but men and women do experience heart attack symptoms different. Due to the differences when a woman would go in got problems she was mostly turned away until it was too late because the symptoms didn't match their chart check list. I remember when they really Dove into heart issues for women(it was after my dad had the widow maker and well thats a long story in itself) and I learned heart disease ran in my family and nobody told us. So I went ape shit demanding all tests for my heart(even with my needlephovia) and yeah. At that point they really started looking into studying women for women's heart issues and my data was including in that. They realized we do have different symptoms from heart attacks than men and it can be different on the monitors too. (Greys did a episode about this as well) so because we learned new things a huge push went out to educate women and men about the risks and identifying characteristics for women, so they get early treatment. Side note: my nonna never knew women's symptoms differed from men, so it wasn't until then the doctors looked at her chest complaints more seriously and she has 3 stents now due to bad artery structure.

Of course men matter just as much with heart disease. Were on equal footing of importance when it's diseases and such. It's not about screw men, it's about getting awareness out to women when we didn't have the knowledge before.

I suspect it’s because they don’t get enough fundraising as people see it as a male issue rather than a female one.

By highlighting it impacts women they are hoping to get women to donate to them.

This one I don't see as much of an issue with since everyone is well aware of what a heart attack is likely to look like for us men. The symptoms for a woman's heart attack, as someone else pointed out, are usually very different and quite often very subtle and knowledge of what they are isn't exactly widespread.

Yeah, the name of the awareness campaign could definitely use a change but having one given the background info is fine.

Probably the best would be to flood the internet with a remade version of this but only with male figures. Would be better than nothing. Also if such a campaign is publicly financed, there's probably some law which prohibits discrimination because of sex so executing it might be worth considering.
