Someone asked in AskMen what guys refrain of saying because of fear of backlash, one guy wrote that a woman smacked his behind in a bar, he yelled at her, someone heard a male shouting at a female and called the police, they came, took him aside for questioning, did nothing with her, expelled him.

Feminism kills. The following is a post appearing on TrueOffMyChest. The feminist depiction of humanity as "one abusive sex, one abused sex" is the social hiding and legitimization of female violence and abuse under a guise of equality. When half of humanity is exempt of humane imperatives.

"You are the ones minimizing what SHE did". Two excellent easy-going bloggers from Canada calling out and pin-pointing the hypocritical treatment in the media of the Depp-Heard case, and the absurd criticism in the media of the moral response of tens of millions to lies and abuse by a woman.

As an academic, I wish more people would be aware that the 60% majority of women in academia is entirely coming from adding to universities political departments and calling them "research departments" - gender studies, women's studies, sexuality studies.

I think the people who need this explained with an extremely simplified analogy would probably not be able to grasp the concept, no?

[–]Zorbles 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Most people believe what they want to believe. Logic doesn't come into it. Won't persuade a single one of the hard liners.

[–]phoenician_anarchist 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think a lot of people would be surprised just how many people believe what they believe simply due to the fact that that is all they know. Throwing graphics like this one around just seems dismissive and somewhat condescending to me, so I don't see it doing any good compared to an honest (and respectful) conversation—or at least an attempt at one.

Don't forget, Cassie Jaye was a feminist before she made her film and changed her mind.

This is a perfect simplistic representation of this. Have as many upvotes as possible.

Simplistic/ Sim’plistik … definition—treating complex issues and problems as if they were much simpler than they really are, in a manner that simplifies a concept or issue so that its nuance and complexity are lost or important details are overlooked.

[–]WhatsResponsibility 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What are you trying to say?

[–]lightsatellite -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Simplistic does not mean simple.

[–]Suspicious-Sleep5227 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This definition is more in line with “reductive” than “simplistic”. this explanation takes a complex issue and makes it understandable in layman’s terms WITHOUT omitting any important elements.

[–]lightsatellite 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just to clarify, I am not criticizing the original posting but rather the use of the word “simplistic “ to describe it; which it is not.

[–]Angryasfk 32 points33 points34 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

A great graphic!

Let’s watch feminists dismiss it!

[–]_BlueShark87 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They’d just say that’s because men prevent women from getting good jobs through misogyny

[–]Angryasfk 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Presumably either we somehow make the women choose the feathers instead of the stones, or (and this is VERY FEMINIST) it’s some sort of “patriarchal male conspiracy” that’s decided that stones are heavier than feathers, and once “the revolution” happens, feathers will weigh more than rocks, or some such BS!

[–]selitos 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They would also say that they chose professions that help people and being in business or finance or corporate law doesn't. They'd ignore that making money is the primary reason we hold jobs and you could volunteer if you wanted to help society. And then they'd say that the disparity in pay between industries is unfair. And then emotionally shut down when you tried to explain that people weren't compensated solely based on effort but instead the price at which it would be difficult to hire a replacement. And then they'd refuse to speak to you the rest of the night. Sigh...

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points32 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So the better phrase is to call it the choices gap. Love it.

The feminist rebuttal: Women choose feathers because of men. Men bad.

[–]Flying_Reinbeers 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Then you mention how most college students are women, making men a minority

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Men are in a minority and STILL making more money than women. We absolutely have to right this oppression by getting more women in to educational fields where they will get higher paying jobs.

It's kind of funny actually. The evidence suggests that women don't want to work for more money, meaning they either feel entitled to more or genuinely don't want the jobs that men do better and bring in more revenue. Hmmm

[–]Flying_Reinbeers 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And that, my friend, is honestly quite incredible.

[–]AirSailer 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its the "gender earnings gap" not the "gender wage gap".

[–]AaViOnBando 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Makes sense, although I have to say that some jobs that require physical labor usually pay less (in europe) while office jobs that require less physical labor usually end up paying more for example an office worker. Which actually means that most men will probably end up getting paid less...

[–]skcuf2 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think the 'burden' of the rock in this example would equate more to risk or responsibility. If the job requires absolutely no skill (think picking things up of no value and moving them) then it's difficult if they're heavy, but not inherently valuable. The value provided is the lack of a need to purchase and store a machine.

If the task is risky (think underwater pipeline welding) or hold large responsibility (think executive at public company) then there is an extreme burden. This is where the rock vs feather comes in.

I think one of the best examples is a male doctor with female nurse. The nurse takes basic tasks that the doctor can handle, but doing so takes valuable time. The doctor also holds more responsibility and can handle more difficult tasks. The nurse is paid less because they cannot do everything the doctor can, but the doctor can do what they can do. They're a purchased convenience.

I will post this on International Womens day! If that is OK.

[–]Henry_Blair[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not just okay - it's perfect. And I sincerely believe this myth is hurting women as well.

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You left out the part where a bunch of the men owe a bunch of the women child support payments but that doesn't count as either pay for the women or a reduction in pay for the men.

[–]ChaosOpen 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

That is only one of the many things they don't factor in. Another thing is even though feminist often give the difference as a flat rate(88 cents to every dollar), that is derived from the total earnings not the pay rate. Men work 40.5 hours a week while women work 36.6 hours per week, however they determine the hourly pay by taking the total yearly income and dividing it by 2,080(40 hours a week times 52 weeks). This method is close enough for men, however it results in a rate that is wildly off for women.

[–]Henry_Blair[S] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree. I also left out the part about many women on the left side being MARRIED to those men on the right side, which means that those earnings are theirs too.

Feminists, decades ago, stopped thinking in terms of the bio-social atom of humanity called the family, and started looking at the world as if men and women are completely separated. Governments never calculate economical status per individual but only per household, because men's earning are women's too, it's not really "the men's" (in 2012 the Economist published that women in the US own 60% of all wealth).

The entire discussion that feminists have created about "total per sex" is ludicrous. This parameter is meaningless. It does not yield what feminists think it does - "a histogram of a red column and a blue column - red being 'how much women have' and blue 'how much men have'", because in the real world the two columns are INTERLINKED. Regardless of divorces and the payments, PART OF THE RED COLUMN IS COMING FROM THE BLUE COLUMN, and in fact if what feminists are thinking of with their "comparison of total money per sex" is taken seriously then THE RED COLUMN IS MUCH HIGHER - it includes the sharing by husbands of their earnings with their wives which is natural and good but is added to the red column (women are responsible for most consumer purchases including cars, homes, computers), some tax benefits only women have, and you mentioned divorce settlements.

The most important thing in my mind in the feminist "totals comparison" is not what is the gap or where is it coming from but the fact that they arrived at this absurd comparison by stopping - decades ago - from looking at the world as "men and women together" and they view the world through a prism where there are no families, no unions between the sexes, no love, no shared life (with or without marriage - any shared life) - separated. This is the only way for such a parameter of "compare total earnings per sex in a country" to even come to mind, and then - this is the interesting and troubling part - by having the discussions on that senseless comparison which ignores the funds both sexes use and their sources - they infected society with that view of the world, because the only way you can comprehend the "totals comparison" is... by stopping to view men and women as couples.

In fact I believe it doesn't matter that they are wrong - this infection with a perception of the sexes as separated by default is the great feminist victory and human defeat of this feminist discussion.

Please refer to the hand manual for the liberated woman to find out which choices have been listed as free choices by the feminist freedom commission. Remember: Your choice is only ours and nobody else's! Liberated at last.

[–]PopcornShrrimp1 points 3 years ago* [recovered] (34 children) | Copy Link

When dealing with the earnings gap, one has to ask themselves why SO many women choose the feather? Are women innately lazy? Do they just not want to work hard? Are the jobs defined as rocks actually more valuable to society than feathers?

Are women forced to take more time off for child care meaning they don’t get promoted into ‘rock’ jobs? Are feather jobs offering more flexibility so kids can be picked up from school after work? Are high paying management jobs rock jobs and women aren’t being chosen for management positions? Or do women not want management positions?

Is maternity leave slowing womens progress at work? Is that fair? Taking a lot of time off does slow your progress is it unfair to not promote them for that reason?

Are men so focused on being rocks that women are forced to be feathers? Could two rocks raise a family? Would that be hard? Would it be fair to the kids? Would it end up costing too much in childcare and it’s better one person becomes a feather?

This is simplistic but it’s not like women want lower paying jobs. Minimum wage retail jobs suck. Line cook at McDonald’s works way harder than me and I make 10 times their wage. I’m admittedly a rock. I work a lot. My wife works part time so she can stay on top of our social obligations and kids. She’s a feather. If she decided today she wanted to be a rock, it would be hard on us. But I always made more money so she ended up going feather as it made sense. A very common story for women. Is that fair?

[–]Henry_Blair[S] 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago* (15 children) | Copy Link

These are exactly the questions I'm asking myself, and that should have been in my opinion the content of the discussion rather than the lie "a man and a woman doing the same are paid differently". And to your questions I would add - why are men choosing rocks, and how is that related to female sexual expectations of men. Feminism treated for decades the sexes as identical and by that ignored differences in sexuality, specifically, that men are attracted to beauty and women to success. Thus men were shamed for saying openly they want a woman with large breasts but nothing was ever said to women about being blunt about their equivalent female drive, and it was only amplified by feminism telling women to liberate any drive in them. Thus men are facing a nation of women asking them to earn 500k a year at age 22. What is feminism's part in men's choices.

[–]PopcornShrrimp1 points 3 years ago* [recovered] (14 children) | Copy Link

So you blame feminism for the earnings gap. Feminism has closed the earnings gap dramatically over the last 100 years. Odd to blame it for what’s left.

[–]Helpingwithhelp 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bet it’s like trying to get blood out of a stone to get more money for balancing the gender pay difference

[–]9pmt1ll1come 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Yes they have but at a ridiculous cost to society. More women than never are single and unhappier. When once they hit the wall on their 30s, it’s game over for them. It’s a crisis right now and it’s only going to get worse.

[–]PopcornShrrimp1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (10 children) | Copy Link

So what’s the answer then? Back to the kitchen with them like the old days? That can’t possibly be your opinion.

[–]9pmt1ll1come 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

What’s wrong the kitchen? What’s wrong with a woman playing her role at home while the man provides for her and the family? Are women truly happier now than their mothers and grandmothers? Women are better at some things and men are better at other things. They complement each other. You can’t possibly expect men to take on roles that are better suited for women and vice versa. We can sit here and argue things that men and women are inherently better at given their gender but that’s counterproductive. Feminism is killing society because it gives women a false sense of confidence based on a very limited age range experience. Women on their 20s are in for a rude awakening on their 30s. This is documented all over.

[+]Lolocraft1 -6 points-5 points-4 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Women, just like men, have no assigned roles. They can chose whatever the hell they want to be

So I can understand why the wage gap is a "myth", but what you’re saying, what’s wrong with role, look like plain mysoginy

[–]9pmt1ll1come 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Everyone has a role to play in society. Some roles are better suited to specific genders. Should we enlist only women to the military and hire men to hospitals? Can you honestly say which is the more efficient distribution of resources? Get fucking real.

[–]Lolocraft1 -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

You’re gonna hate what I’ll say, but gender are 95% of social construction. In nature, there’s barely any gender role. And most of the time both male and female can accomplish them, but one is better at it than the other

Both gender can go in the military, both can cook, both can raise a child, both can be nurse, both can be doctor, a woman can be as good in military as a man just like a man can get as good in cooking as a woman

It’s YOU who have to get fucking real if you think a man can’t cook and a woman can’t be a high paying job

Both my parents are lawyer, and my mom hate cooking, while my dad love it

[–]Flying_Reinbeers 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In nature, there’s barely any gender role. And most of the time both male and female can accomplish them, but one is better at it than the other

Yes, that's called a gender role. The average man is stronger than the average woman, so they are better suited for any applications requiring physical strength, and thus naturally gravitate towards them.

[–]9pmt1ll1come 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That explains your feminized point of view. Now just answer the question about efficient use of resources. PS your mom hates cooking because she’s a feminist that thinks cooking is demeaning to women.

[–]ReniaTycoon 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I only blame modern feminists for thinking and preaching that the wage gap is a result of earning less set salary than men. As though the company really pays differing salaries or hourly pay between men and women of the same education, exp, and position status which are lies. Once they stop propagating that fallacy we'll continue to call them imbeciles for it.

[–]phoenician_anarchist 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

When dealing with the labour gap, one has to ask themselves why so many men choose the rock. Are men innately harder working? Do the prefer working longer hours to spending time with their families?

Do you think men enjoy choosing the rock? If you ask anyone—man or woman—if they would rather go to work or spend time with their family, what do you expect them to say? Nobody (well, few people) want to choose the rock, but some people need to, and that usually ends up being men for various reasons.

The "pay gap" has been explained like a billion times, and yet people still bring up debunked bullshit as if its some kind of argument.
Example: Taking an extended period of leave will impact your ability to progress up the ladder, especially in fields which move rapidly (e.g. tech) for both men and women. Women are not forced to get pregnant, if they choose to start a family (or are careless and/or unlucky) and require time away from work, of course that will negatively impact their prospects for promotion...
How exactly do you propose to solve this issue? Aside from treating them like children who don't understand cause and effect and therefore cannot be held responsible for the consequences of their actions...

[–]PopcornShrrimp1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (8 children) | Copy Link

So your position is women who start a family just have to make peace with the fact that they won’t be promoted. Doesn’t seem very equal does it?

[–]phoenician_anarchist 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

More or less.

Not everyone is privileged enough to get everything they want, most people must choose one or the other (this is the rock and the feather, if i may extend the analogy).

Men also face a similar choice, many jobs will favour employees who put in overtime for promotion. Some men choose their careers (i.e. the rock), some would rather spend time with their families (i.e. the feather).

[–]PopcornShrrimp1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

are men able to have a family and a career? I think so. Why can’t women?

[–]Reddit-person-321 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Usually it's one or the other (to a certain extent) for both men AND women. Either you sacrifice time with your family by working more or you sacrifice the amount of money you make by spending more time with family. Only a tiny percentage of rich people (male and female) don't have to worry about sacrificing either.

You can balance both to a certain extent but having a job will inevitably take away from the time you could be spending with your kids/ family members even if you have a stay at home job. Especially if you decide to do overtime or get extra hours to get more money.

[–]designerutah 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Same thing happens with the men unwilling to work the extra hours for promotion. Yeah, it’s actually often fair because companies in general promote of performance. Ask this question, if the pay gap were real, meaning women are legally paid less for the same job, why aren’t they hiring more women and why aren’t more lawsuits being leveled at corporations.

[–]phoenician_anarchist -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You just have to put on your Feminist Goggles™ and take a look at the situation.

Women are not being hired over men despite being paid less for the same work because...
spins wheel
... men are afraid of strong independent women!

[–]designerutah 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think you misunderstood what I wrote. I'm arguing that the pay gap isn’t systemic and sexist but rather due to production. To answer my own question, it’s because the pay gap isn’t real. If it were companies would actively seek to hire more women.

[–]phoenician_anarchist 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My apologies, I believe I dropped this earlier: /s

[–]designerutah 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]TheSnesLord 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

one has to ask themselves why SO many women choose the feather?

Her biology, freedom of choice and free will to choose.

[–]9pmt1ll1come 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it has more to do with women’s expectations that men will provide (or are meant to be providers). Women know that when all else fails, they can come running to Mr. Nice Guy to rescue them from themselves. So this makes them often take the easy way out as opposed to actually choosing a career path. Ofc, there are women out there, specially feminists, who will pick a rock like men often do. Then we start to run into relationship issues because now women want to wear the pants in the relationship along with men. Well, obviously this doesn’t work out which is why there is a crisis right now of single men and women. It used to be that men would happily provide for women if she played her role as a nurturing, caring woman at home. Now women expect men to provide (the old fashioned way) but women themselves don’t want to play the house wife. They want to go work easy BS jobs so they don’t have to be the house wife. But still expect men to be old fashioned.

No they're not lazy they just choose what they can do, obviously we are different biologically you can't put an average woman in construction can you??

[–]9pmt1ll1come 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Obviously men are better at it but that’s not the central issue. The central issue is women wanting to get paid construction work wages (rock) while working a barista job (feather). Basically expecting comparable wages.

In europe physical labor jobs are usually low to mid pay, otherwise everyone would be out the ghettos.

Both my parents are lawyer, so I guest they’re both rock

And I didn’t have family issues for my entire first 18 years

So yes, two rock can make a family, just like two feather could also

[–]_BlueShark87 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same. both my parents were high earning professionals, but the downside is I rarely got to see my father and only saw my mother once a day. I agree two rocks can make a family, but I do believe a rock and a feather would make a better one, if only slightly.

[–]Flying_Reinbeers 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My wife works part time so she can stay on top of our social obligations and kids. She’s a feather. If she decided today she wanted to be a rock, it would be hard on us. But I always made more money so she ended up going feather as it made sense. A very common story for women. Is that fair?

It is simply more effective to raise a family like that. You can have the mother be the rock and the father be the feather, but at the end of the day having someone who can spend more time with the little ones is best than neither doing it.

I’ve heard this people on this sub mention that more women are completing college now than men. I’m just wondering if the reason for that might be the same as the reason for this?

[–]Henry_Blair[S] 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

How about a study published last year with 39000 children showing that boys receive lower grades for same performances as girls, the fact that some institutions have 300 scholarships only for women and zero equivalent funding for men, and the fact that in those colleges there are tribunals that are enacted to remove young men from colleges for normative behaviors that women can engage in freely (sending a text message to your ex) by treating this as "harassment" only if done by males, as the cause for the fact that today 60% of higher education students at all levels up to PhD are women. What's happening in education is discrimination, not "a choices gap".

For a gap to be a choices gap you need to first examine whether you can find concrete trends (not idiosyncratic examples - trends) of barriers. No such barriers can be found in the work world for women - did you know that between single men and single women not only that men don't earn more in total but there's an advantage for women in the totals? And that in some western countries, women in the age range of 20-30 make more in total than men that age? Where are the barriers then? The small overall gap in earnings is simply because of the women who want to prioritize motherhood and work part time or in less intensive occupations, by choice, and are married, and their husband makes a little more - and this extra income is theirs too, it's not that "the totals mean that men have more money!!" Did you know that in 2012 the Economist reported that 60% of wealth in the US belongs to women? (if anything, what you find in the work world is barriers for men, not for women, for example in job ads forbidding men explicitly to apply, quotas, and explicit announcements by management that women should be preferred), while in education as I demonstrated, these barriers for men are all over the place.

It's complicated, but I think you are close to the truth. When you look at which sex pursues which degrees, it's easy to see that there is a difference. I think the root of that difference is the initial expectation. Does the person think they can make a living with an English degree vs an engineering degree?

If you strongly suspect that your partner will subsidize your lifestyle, you're more willing to pursue a lower earning career. Colleges love degrees that are cheap to teach, it's pure profit for them.

I’d agree if evidence didn’t point toward boys being disadvantaged in school by the education system, starting with women teachers in elementary school, who are highly likely to be leftist/feminist, who give preference to girls.

Understanding evolutionary psychology and how it affects us leads to realizing that there's a lot of innate stuff that we don't recognize or identify and they make us behave and make choices that we do. It's our version of instincts and they're preferences and behaviors that are so fundamentally true that we don't think about them the way we do learned things.

Because these things are so fundamentally true we all agree about them and they're a part of our society and culture. But because they're a part of our society it's easy to think that we learned them, which perpetuates the false idea that everything is learned.

A fundamental role or goal that evolution programmed us with is what we're supposed to "do". For men that fundamental role is to be a provider. Being good at our job, whatever we do, is part of our identity. Before we became civilized it was being a good hunter and protector. It's gender specific; it's on the Y chromosome. Women with their two X chromosomes don't have it.

Screenshotted for ease of posting elsewhere. Thanks!

My go to is "we can discuss how its super fucked up that arguably THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF MAINTAINING A SOCIETY, namely healthcare and teaching, gets so undervalued compared to other fields... but regarding the sexes, if the simple wagegap is reality, then i'd hire only women to save on the salary costs."

Usually doesnt make anyone open to argue :(

Excellent. I think you can also click it in the post, right-click on it and "save image as" to get it in full resolution (I was able to do that in chrome on a lap top).

This is so funny, because there is no data attached to it, and no explanation of what jobs are feathers or rocks. Drawing a diagram doesn’t make something true at all. And what about women with the same jobs and responsibilities as men in the same company who still get underpaid???

This is just someone’s opinion with a graphic 😂

[–]ReniaTycoon 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women do not get paid less in the same company, same education, same experience, and position. The wage gap data is vague and only releases total earned money a year. Which the 13% difference is surely a result of more women taking time off for maternity leave, or choosing less overtime more often or any other number of factors. In a world where women still have more family court rights, more reproductive rights even after roe vs Wade overturn, get punished less for equal crimes, have more funds for breast cancer research over men's prostate cancer and so much more wester female privileges I highly doubt our privilege ends in regards to earnings.

This is so funny

Whenever feminists are presented with data showing that when the wages are stratified by occupation, hours, rank, years of experience and education the "gap" drops to zero or nearly that, they suddenly act as if they don't understand the word stratification. Feminists are provided with data disproving their "gap" myth all the time, data where wages are stratified (separated) by occupation, hours etc., for a head-to-head comparison that shows time and again that two people doing the same earn the same and simply ignore it because they prefer to turn to the public with the rhetoric of "people... people! How else will two totals be different if not by a difference between two individuals doing the same in thousands of workplaces! Use your common sense people!" So this diagram shows how.
