In a relationship subreddit, a guy asked for advice on what to do about his parents not approving of his wife. The guy volunteered that he was 26, so I replied that he was of the age where it was time for him to “let go” of seeking his parents approval for his adult decisions (such as who HE marries), since you are almost 30, HIS approval of his decisions should be the #1 priority. I didn’t say “stop loving your parents” or “tell your parents f-off” I only said just to make (and own) your own decisions, like a man. Your parents don’t get in bed with you every night, your wife does.

I got told to “go somewhere else with that toxic masculinity BS”

It’s a term I only hear on the internet, but based on the context it’s used, it seems like just BEING a man nowadays, or telling others to, is “toxic masculinity”
