I just got an email from my work explaining the new office dress code. We are no longer allowed to wear shorts, but skirt wearing is fine (it never actually specified female only).

Also, a point that made me laugh is that we're not allowed to wear visible underwear....Damn, that's gonna mess with ma swag /s

You could buy a cheap kilt, such as the Utilikilt, and if your work raises any objections you could say that it meets the same standards as your coworkers dresses. Maybe get some nice sandals to wear as well to really show the hypocrisy. Even fi it doesn't work you still own a sweet kilt.

If you don't have to wear black shoes/trousers, wear cotton/linen blend beige trousers and some boat-style brown leather shoes without socks.

Get a voice recorder of some-sorts, your cellphone might be able to do it. TEST it out first to make sure it'll pick-up clearly people's voices when they speak to you. You may have to hold (hide) it in your hand when speaking to someone. Secretly record the conversations between you and HR (go as high as you can go on the ladder about this). Start off by innocently talking about the dress code, get them to talk as much as possible about it. Don't be confrontational, don't ask hard questions, get them to talk as much as possible. Then inquire about why you can't wear shorts and sandals/flip-flops like the women there. Literally use the term ".... like women there" when asking your questions. Ask the same questions a few times mixing up the words or way you ask them, do this to ensure the excuse "oh... I didn't understand your question, I was confused, that's why I answered that way." does not work if they try to use it in the future. You'll see police/lawyers do this all of the time in interrogations.

TLDR; Secretly record them admitting to you they have sexist policies. Play the character of a weak and wounded fawn when talking to HR. Don't push hard on any one topic, let HR push you over with lots of bullshit, let them talk a lot, they love to hear their own voices.

You can thank Feminism for that - men are required to toil away while burning to death while females are allowed to lounge around in comfy clothes becuase it's 'oppression' otherwise.

Men and women have different bodies and hence different norms about dress. This is not going to change, just get with the program.

The fact is, if I came into an office and the men were all wearing shorts and sandals, I'd feel this was less professional than an office where the men wore trousers and closed shoes. This is just my experience of the norms, and I don't feel it's a legitimate inequality (any more than women being expected to wear bras or dresses/tops with bust support.)

Until the biology changes, or at least until the norms change (which they do, slowly – there was a time when men were expected to wear three piece suits to work even in summer), there's little point lobbying to HR.

Why don't you just ask if they can turn up the air conditioning (or install/improve it)?

Goddammit, all you whiny assholes are going to accomplish is getting skirts banned from the workplace. For Christ's sake some if you mr faggots are more feminist than feminists. Women look good in skirts. We need more of that.
