A whole lot gets said about female hypergamy but is male hypergamy real? Usually male polygamy is phrased as the counter part to hypergamy which is described in terms of women "branch swinging" and vying for the best possible male, but do men not do the exact same? What man doesn't want the best possible mate he can get? It literally the only reasonable thing for anyone to want.

If men weren't hypergamous then "trophy wives" wouldn't be a thing. All men want the hottest youngest girl he can have. Male branch swinging is common place. A man in his mid life crisis ditching his wife for some bimbo secretary half his age is a stereotype as old as time. Female hypergamy is often cited as the cause of high divorce rates and ruined relationships and yet the statistics tell us married men are more likely to cheat on their wives than vice versa.
