More men marrying up: Reverse Hypergamy

I have a PhD in stem, and my husband never went to university. Looking at our CVs I should be the obvious breadwinner, but he far outstrips me in ambition and business savvy so we end up pulling in about the same at the end of the day. I don't feel like I've dated down at all, in fact him being entirely self taught is far more impressive and attractive to me.

I think a lot of highly educated women are shooting themselves in the foot when they consider formal education to equate to status in a guy. Lots of high value men are just not going to sit through 4 years of someone else telling them how to do things.

Example: one of my best friends is a big shot international lawyer currently writing her PhD. She went on a few dates with a guy, and was feeling unsure about things because he didn't finish his degree. I asked why he didn't finish and she said "oh he dropped out when he got poached by some physics company. CERN or something."

The dude was a freaking genius and had been personally chased down to work at the large hadron collider, but she was too worried about what people would think of her dating a man without a degree.

IIRC statistically they don't last as long, but I wonder how much of it is a direct result of the woman outearning the man.

Young women outearn young men, and I think this may have been true for a little while now. When women have children most continue to work but the stop putting in those extra 20-30 hours a week to advance, they leave early when the kid has an ear infection, they favor flexibility to more pay.

In the strata where married women ~~don't~~ CANT do this, a "good" men (who isn't addicted to pain killers, has any sort of steady work, doesn't hit you) are a rarer thing. I wonder how much the divorce rate is attributable to that man being flush both options and time, and the way it effects his behavior and fidelity.

Prole women get degrees.

Prole men stay home and increasingly turn to heroin.

At some point, they might marry. But this case wouod not be marrying up.

Marrying up as in cross-class marriage often has class-based tension, and will tend to be males marrying down, just because the top has more men. There are literally more male babies born each step you take up the class ladder.

So limited age range and that a higher age range than the average age of marriage. More so its at an age range where women are going to be much more desperate to get married.

Or men aren't complaining about marrying up as they be shamed over it like anything else they speak out on. The author of the study here clearly didn't do anything to quantify this and is projecting like every other feminist does with such studies. What I like about this study is they imply women are marrying down cause they want to not because of them being desperate to marry. More so I like how no where do they show the numbers or rate of this happening. For all we know 1% of marriages are like this.

It has to be more common to sustain a rate of marriages when men are starting to make less and less. Does not mean these marriages are likely to last

They found that the number of highly educated unmarried women exceeds the number of single men in the same boat. Consequently, women are more likely to be married to a less-educated man — and earning a higher income than him.

Unless I am missing more of the study, it appears they are only concluding that this will be the case from looking at people who are already highly educated.

You need to compare the general population of married people to get a true idea of who is marrying up or down.

Having witnessed a few of my gal pals marrying down with losers who could barely stay out of jail, I never believed hypergamy was a biological reality. In fact it was their parents who cried havoc against these bum husbands and told the gal to divorce him. It was always the parents who wanted hypergamy for their daughters, but not the woman herself.

Was always going to happen eventually. Women made the education and increasingly the employment realms to suit them - now the majority of men will never be good providers. The high value ones are going to be in extra demand and thus hold off marrying because they have all the options.
