There are a number of users on who talk about the amount of males that are chasing after females, and how all of those males are "options". It is correct to say that every single male willing to have sexual intercourse or date, is technically an option, it is also correct to say that instead of eating food, one could go to the nearest dog park and find a pile of a dog's feces to eat, but that is not all to realistic for a person to do.

If an attractive female went on any online dating web site, she would receive a very large volume of messages, assuming the messages are indicating that the other person is interested in her in the romantic sense, then those are options. But realistically, the number of men she would consider to be go further with would be relatively low.

One could argue this is an abundance mentality, which in some cases that may be correct. But if ninety-nine males who message a female want sex, then there is one that she deems attractive and he does not just want her strictly for sex, that is still scarcity. It is still scarcity because those other males did not matter, they are a left-swipe on Tinder in a split second, not even taken into consideration. Having one hundred males willing to have sex at any given time does not really matter to most females, because they are not looking actively for one night stands.

Random males do not matter as much as they think they do to females, and having desperate males messaging females for sexual intercourse when she is not looking for that does not mean that those males are going to be potential decisions.
