So I’ve been reading a lot recently about this subject and came to the conclusion that a lot of people will view monogamous relationships and wanting your partner to be exclusive both sexually and emotionally in a relationship as being controlling/possessive/insecure. There’s no doubt that abusive and controlling relationships happen, but I’ve also found a lot of times that if you don’t want to be in a relationship with someone who openly flirts/cheats, don’t want to be in a relationship with someone who partakes in something like onlyfans or posting “thirst traps” on instagram, someone who doesn’t want a relationship that entertains other people in more than a friendly manner and so on you’re going to be found as the bad person and being controlling or insecure. I do believe that trying to tell people what they can and cannot do with their own bodies crosses that line to being controlling, but I don’t believe that setting boundaries of what you don’t want to happen to you in a relationship and leaving said relationship while not trying to change what your partner does should be seen as controlling or insecure. However boundaries could also interpret the “my way or the highway” attitude to some people. What are your takes on this?
