The fact that wanting a partner that has traits that are different from their own is even considered hypocritical is weird to me.

People are naturally drawn to people who will add value to their life, and that typically implies that these people will be "better" than you in certain ways. Ideally, you will be adding value to their life as well by being "better" than them in other ways.

The only thing that matters is whether that persona acknowledges their choices are going to be more limited as a result of their hypocrisy.

No, the only thing that matters is whether you can actually attract someone that meets those preferences.

If my dating preferences were 9/10 model tier women, that would make me a dumbass. We need to normalize calling out delusional and entitled people for what they are, like Kevin Samuels was doing.

I have always found this odd. Even the most woke among us like what they like. To me it is not hypocritical. It is human nature.

Sometimes these desires can be self-defeating. People make the perfect the enemy of the good. But over the years I have coached hundreds of men personally and I never, ever tell them to aim lower, not directly. Because sometimes it does workout and because it is far too judgemental. Who am I to tell them to give up their dream?

No one should worry about this, because you simply can't. It will kill you. Pursue your dream, but live in reality. Most guys eventually find someone.

Let's replace X and Y with some sensible values and see how your statements measure up.

"You're not a woman so you can't want a woman in a partner. Hypocrite". Clearly false.

"You killed someone so you can't ask for someone who didn't kill someone. Hypocrite" Also clearly false.

If you start from obviously false premises then nothing you say is going to make any sense. Your argument is totally bogus.

I'm curious where the idea that high earning men don't want career wives comes from? I work and network with lots of career women and they never seem to have a hard time finding men to date or marry. Is this a regional issue?

I do agree in general though, be as picky as you want as long as you are ok waiting and don't whine constantly about it.

It can be fine, but in some cases it also can significantly decrease your dating chances, if it's something a lot of people/people you're specifically interested in find important. Also in my view, hypocrisy about moral standards is a bad sign for an LTR. If a person can easily excuse themselves from following their own morals and values, you can never know what else they can excuse themselves and it is a sign of a lack of moral character.
