I'm sure there are a lot of folks here who read The Red Pill and don't necessarily agree with all of the posts and comments there, but still find many of them to be spot on.

I was no different, and I decided that I would only comment on the things I do agree with, and not dwell on the things I didn't. Apparently though, this doesn't go over too well in that subreddit if you also point out that you are a female, because it comes across as attention-whoring. Fair enough: even though that wasn't my intent, I can see how it might be taken that way.

But anytime I comment there and make an indirect mention to my gender (saying "my boyfriend" or my experience with guys I've dated in the past), I still get a -1...nothing catastrophic, but enough to send my comment straight to the bottom of the pile and show that at least two people have downvoted me, even though what I say is pretty tame and, at least in my opinion, does not smack of ass-kissery or "not all women are like that." I oftentimes agree with them that yes, a lot of women are like that, and no, you shouldn't put up with it. After all, I wouldn't put up with it from a guy. Still got downvoted.

So here are some of my thoughts. Feel free to agree, disagree, enlighten me, or share your own experience.

  1. I'm starting to see TRP as a circlejerk at worst, and an old boys' club at best. I know that a lot of them pride themselves on not caring what women think of them, but for those that do, it's just not a good look.

  2. It's making me want to avoid this kind of guy like the plague. I used to be pretty into the confident, dominant male. I always wanted to please (be it with compliments, meals, sexually, etc.), made sure I always looked good both in face and in body, and was overall patient, pleasant and never belittling - if I did have complaints I did it behind closed doors and was as gentle as possible. While I'm still those things, and while TRP has shown me the value of those qualities, I've gravitated less towards the brooding, dominant, exacting types and more towards guys like my more easygoing, less alpha boyfriend. While he's confident and independent, he's very catering to my wants and needs. This not only makes me happy on an emotional level; it (dare I say it?) gives me the tingles too. I think I would have been pretty enamored no matter what, but I think reading through the Red Pill community has only helped me appreciate what I have even more.

  3. In an effort not to put women on pedestals, I almost feel like TRP has done the opposite. It's like they're going out of their ways to knock us down when some of us were never trying to toot our own horns to begin with. I realize that a lot of women respond to this behavior, but surely I can't be the only one who finds this completely off-putting?

  4. In spite of all this, I still think there is some good advice there to help guys who have been burned repair their self-esteem. I like to think that those guys are the silent majority, and that many of the members there with chips on their shoulders are just going through a rough patch.

I think I had more, but can't think of any right now. Not trying to flame anyone here, just venting my frustration and hopefully starting some discussion.

DISCLAIMER: In spite of my username, I'm not a troll, just a little self-deprecation there. I am not a feminazi, but I'm not NOT a feminist...is there a term for that? There should be!
