People are generally unempathetic but women falsely get the societal credit for being empathetic. accordingly, saying that women are unempathetic is a revolutionary statement--it's revolutionary for women too, since of course the false image of noneixstent empathy comes with the burdens of benevolent expectations. All that "emotional labor" that women bitch about nonstop, which they a. would not bitch about if they were actually empathetic and b. use as a crutch to pretend to be empathetic and gain social points for use.

I think we'll all be a lot better off if we can all acknowledge that all of us are animals trying to keep it honest, talking horny monkeys (who stick around the children a little longer) who deceive each other for their own benefit.

I double dog dare you to assert that no, women are in fact empathetic.

There is an epidemic of little boys wondering why they cant get a girl. It's that simple.

Everywhere there are "men" who cant pay their own bills, dont practice good hygiene (or any at all), are socially awkward, dont have anything interesting going on because their hobbies are games+whack it, dont keep their bodies in ok shape, and they whine about women.

Dont get me wrong, modern women certainly deserve the shit they get for their hypocrisy, but so do these modern "men."

These guys think their meeting the mandatory minimum requirements and are being treated unfairly. They aren't.

Being a man isnt hard. Get a good job..better yet have an actual career you lazy fuck. Keep your body healthy so you can protect your woman physically and fuck her the way she wants without running out of breath. Have a brain with an original fucking thought in it so you have an interesting life. You're 30, video games are fun for about 20 minutes at a time...unless you are a dullard.

Be socially adept you sperg. If talking to a girl makes you nervous at all you need to grow up.

Quite frankly if you're not a modern renaissance man, you dont deserve a girl.

Men function on facts presented in the present moment, women function based on a 'narrative' (ie, what they've seen/experienced in the past and whether it maps with what they see/experience in the present, and predict in the future).

So it's a lot more common for men to forget that the reality they are currently experiencing isn't the same reality as the next person. They see a sexy woman and their excitement over her can make them forget that just because they are feeling sexy at the sight of her, she might not be feeling "sexy" back. So it's not exactly projection or lack of empathy so much as making an assumption about consensus reality that isn't as accurate as they think it is (or want it to be).

It's useful for being able to act quickly in the moment, anyway. Less useful for figuring out why another person behaves as they do.

I lack empathy. That part of my brain doesn't work. Zilch, zero, nope, niet, nada.

I can tell you that you are right, when I don't want to bother to actually know someone I use projection. Is just a tool to work around people I don't care about. If I care about someone, if someone is important for me/to me for any reason then I need to drop the projection and start listening and thinking about it.

It isn't even that hard.

1) Research the human in question. Listen, see if actions correlate with words.

2)Start with projection (for me that means logical thinking), apply projection to the data I have.

3) Check if there is a delicate issue that is important to the human in question that is in play right now.

3)a If there is one, check face/language to gauge how emotional that person is.

3)b If emotion level is over 50% change the logic, delicate issue is now priority number 1 even if it doesn't make any fucking sense at all. Don't ever try to have a logical conversation with that person unless emotional level is under 30% again. Just reassure that their feels are valid. Lie if needed.

4) Back to 1) and repeat until you actually know that person.

People in reddit have little to no incentive to get to know anyone. That does not mean that there aren't people in this lovely comunity that care about the debate and the people in it enough to stop with the projection.

Other than that, there are some people, usually young people, that still don't get that people are different and unique enough that projecting all the time is not a flawless strategy.

That being said, projection is not that bad of a strategy. People may be different but there are enough commonalities for most people to use projection in an effective enough way.

It doesn't have to be a perfect way to connect with people, it just has to be cost-effective for the goal you are trying to achieve.

Most men, most of the time, don't need to go further than projection.

Some people are just dense enough that they are unwilling to try new strategies.

Work in the service industry for a month and compare the tips you get, men vs women.

Go be homeless and beg for change and see who gives you more, men or women.

Go stand there with your car by the side of the road and see who stops to assist you, a man or a woman.

Women don't manifest empathy behaviorally. "Getting to know" people is a prerequisite to exploiting them, for women. Don't confuse social intelligence with empathy.

Everyone projects, everyone is averagely empathetic, however women's "well known" higher empathy just seems to be overrated, thus why you get a counter current of "women aren't empathetic" as a response.

What's with men and projection?

Same as everybody, everyone makes the wrong assumption the others are not as deep or different as they are. This a characteristic of the human race, not men. It is a difficult task, but somehow it is just a misconception. Every human have the same feelings and preferences (unless sick or mad), what changes is the weight of each and the priority list in their behavior.

I see here all the time that women are the ones lacking in empathy.

Although men and women lack empathy, generally, the genders lack empathy in different things.

Men lack empathy for people who feel bad being corrected, shown to be wrong or consequences of unwise actions because they live it every day. Men are responsible for themselves, and think that naturally everyone should be the same.

Women lack empathy for people who are focused in non social things, the poor, the lacking or to people with no social power because for them such behaviors or conditions are not in their mind most of the time. Basically being part of high society is everything, and naturally everyone should be the same.

That's what you do when you don't want to bother actually getting to know someone.

Yes. It is a incorrect assumption. but can be useful sometimes.

I agree that maybe TRP project too much the idea of looks, but there is no projection in other parts such as status, power, wealth or masculinity they believe women want. As men do not care for those.

It is something you can only find in those people which already have many, many, many options and can choose.

Most men have little to no choose, even less from a big pool.

But they are not incorrect that looks are a good part of the equation for attraction, as it is important because of real life women behavior, not exactly just men's projection. There is a reason projection is a thing. It works in many things.

Finally, Women are empathetic in more situations, as their intent is focused normally in social relations. But like some people say here, Women also show empathy more because of such social relations, not exactly that they are feeling what others feel. Example: some ladies which talk in great lengths about the children dying in africa but do not want to get even close to really help.

Men do not show their empathy much for the same reason. They have little to no reason to show it. Their interests generally are in other things such as survival, material things and/or sex. Which would make shows of empathy to be regarded as a bad idea. So they do not show it. It does not mean they are not empathetic (as projection is but a failled attempt at correct empathy) they are just unable to show as much as women.
