I think BP leads to clinginess and over attachment

I think it leads to detachment and shutting down. They shut down under the pain of cognitive dissonance and detach from reason when it's too far removed from convention.

and RP tends to lead to detachment and shutting down.

The only detachment I learned from TRP is intentional and leads to stronger attachment. ie not overreacting to shit tests.

The one who walks away the easiest is the one who invested the least. It has nothing to do with gender.

What a strange way to gauge things.

I look at my sister's marriage of 20 years and my parents nearly 50 year marriage as proof of deep emotional strength of the involved parties. They're all very committed to marriage and the work that entails. My parents have been open about going to counseling. My sister and BIL are pretty religious and get guidance from their church leaders and older couples in God centered marriages. I wouldn't call their attachment unhealthy by there is a certain amount of intensity/dying of oneself required for lifelong commitment.

Well if we're talking about emotional attachment intercourse is essential. Relationships before sex are very rarely that serious.

I don't think people have many problems being in love, people struggle with stuff like keeping their partner, having that spark and desire...

BPs and RP emotional investment won't differ that much. This whole debate would revolve around wrong hypothetical scenarios we believe others engage in. It's not like people suddenly start having another love language or so.

Clinginess and over attachment is a problem ... for a lot of men, IME. I can't say it's not also a problem with a lot of women because I don't date women. If men learn one thing from RP it's that clinginess and over attachment is terrible to maintain attraction. Literally some of the most unattractive behaviors to "women." (Women in quotes because I'm generalizing, although I do feel pretty strongly that these are turn offs for most women).

Whether that is "BP" I don't really know. RP would obviously say not to engage in this type of behavior, but I don't see BPers--or anyone for that matter--promoting this.

"BP," by itself, doesn't lead to much. That's what comes up often here, some irritated posters saying So what's your advice, TBP? If the person is inclined towards clinginess and being overly attached, they will be, but I don't see those behaviors being praised or encouraged by BP.

TRP does encourage that, mostly because most posters there are looking for sex, not relationships. And because they've been burnt before. I don't think it's healthy either, but it's the natural conclusion when you believe no woman can be trusted. I prefer to read the female side, RPWi-style, though it does get a bit too homemaking for me. I like to see sexual strategy discussed without too much bashing of the other gender... ETA: I'd welcome more discussion here about emotional attachment and relationship skills instead of sex, but I go along with what's posted.

The person who's less emotionally invested and/or has a better support system. I would say the first is pretty equally split, but women tend to have the better support system.

I'd argue it's individual rather than gender based. The one who walks away easiest is the one who expected the least. Men and women can both have expectations of a relationship and be devastated when those expectations don't pan out.
